Thanks for viewing my video. The Ebay/Amazon oil catch is it worth it?? What can you do to make it better and another ramble lol ...

First, it is actually a great idea to say it is an oil catch can. What if you sell the car and someone else has to service it. You modified it, they have no clue what that is and it has to be serviced regularly. Second, yes cheap hose, just get a fuel/oil rated and move on. What do you expect for $35 bucks...lol. Then, to take the cake, do not use cork! If you block the flow or restrict the flow, then pressure builds up in the crankcase, causing all kinds of other issues and depending on what year and type vehicle can cause it to through codes. Cork is way too dense and restrictive, especially when it swells up a bit with oil. Try to blow through it and see what happens. Most are using stainless Steel scrubbies or oil rated course filter material. The idea of these catch cans is to reduce the volume of oil. None will prevent 100% as there is still some vapor. Unless you ran through several catch cans and cooled sufficiently, you will not get zero oil vapor into the intake.

Put a stainless steel scrubby in the can to increase the surface area inside. More of the mist will be trapped in the container that way.

I've just brought the same catch can and added some metal wool inside for added filtration. I brought the mishimoto 13mm ID hose as well and works brilliantly. Best hose on the market. The catch can for the money is brilliant and even better if you customise it will better filtration. Great video 👍

Don't use metal wool! It has metal dust in it which goes straight to your engine.

How did you like this setup? It is all about slowing the velocity down to allow the oil/contaminants to drop out. The bigger the connections the less velocity. Also, input/output location is important, so they are not too close together.

I got the same 1 but blue and I think it’s awesome they put what it is on it so that way if someone else is working on your car for whatever reason or you end up selling it they know what it is. No different than dodge putting “Fuel” on the fuel cap of challengers 🤷🏻‍♂️

Just added this same 9.97 kit from Amazon to my ecotec, I used the steel wool. Seems to be doing it's job really well. Literally zero blowby now.

You will always have blow-by. Reduced oil in the blow-by is the goal.

I've had 2 different eBay catch cans and the first one I had was a lot better but had smaller ports. The first one had the 3 stage filter/splash guard. The one you have is the one I use now and its terrible...

my concern about putting cork in there is its going to clog up over time and then your pcv system will fail.

I GOT THE SAME ONE THEY UPGRADED THE HOSE TO A HEAVY DUTY FUEL LINE BUT ON MY 2018 F150 5.0 YOU NEED ANOTHER LENGTH THAT DID NOT COME WITH THE KIT BUT OVER ALL ITS THE BEST QUALITY I LOVE THAT IT HAS ITS OWN DIPSTICK I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ONE

you can buy the actual porous bronze filter elements to insert into the canister instead of cork.

Is the baffled part goes into intake since it would block off the oil going in ?

I got a very similar one I'd say it's exactly the same it just doesn't say oil catch can on the top haha, but I ended up using some fuel line off our race car since it's flame and heat resistant and it's been flawless

You are gonna create crankcase pressure with this, you want biggest lines possible to your catch can, 10an or 5/8" is good, corking that can and using 3/8" line is not a good idea.

I don't own the car anymore, but believe it or not, that thing is still kicking .. guy I sold it to daily drove it for years .. I think he just sold it himself.. luckily, the car was bone stock .. The only reason why I use a can was to prevent oil from going into my plenum/intake .. If I were to run boost absolutely, I would've run a way better can .. this car I paid $1 they thought it was toast .. $15 dollars later, one trip to the junk yard I had car running .. the vent at the top is to allow the gasses and fumes to go out of the can and to the PCV, corking it will cause it to backup into your crankcase and completely stop the very process of venting the crankcase. DO NOT CORK the vent holes. If you think it is passing too much oil, then add another catch can, or get a better one like the RX Performance can.

Mishimoto motor is corked and Brass washer in baffle..but thank you for the heads up i appreciate it..

The reason for corking is to prevent oil going back out of can..it still breaths.If you look at the more expensive catch cans they are all corked baffles .. but again thank you again i do appreciate it and get what ur saying. Not sure why Mishimoto corks their cans..

@@oki_535imine baffle can be unscrewed into two halves. Exact same design some can be unscrewed some cannot. I was lucky i got the one that can open the baffle.

Well, every other container under the hood of the car is labeled, might as well continue the trend! At least you will know what it is next time you open the hood! Or your friends won’t ask what it is when they see it!

Only use for kahkah poo pooh Dookie hose is a radiator reservoir overflow drain. The hose is something to giggle about tho

-- You'd be surprised how many people don't know what a catch can is. If you sell the vehicle, an the new owner doesn't know what it is you're as the seller are just looking for grief. So for the nubs out there, I don't mind it says Oil Catch Can.

Believe it not my smog guy told me a oil catch can is legal as long as it says oil catch can on it with pcv/fuel hose. (Califonia)

It says oil catch can on it so when you take your car to the quickie lube the tech there will see it and empty it out.

Lol i guess but somebody who uses a catch can usually doesn't go to a quickie lubes place for oil change.. most of us do it ourselves because of special oil blends they might not have and special filters .. like on my on my honda i order filters from Japan to make sure it authentic hks.. I wouldn't let a quick lube place touch my modified car.. bone stock sure.. and i doubt very much those guy would even know how to disconnect to dump it.. but i get what ur saying and appreciate the view, comment and your time thank you ..i still think its silly it says oil catch can lol ... my new one doesn't .. my new 1 i need to make a upload on super awesome but cost alot more.. thank u again ..

@@pistolgripjoe Quickie lubes use the cheapest oil and filters and some shops just change your oil and dont bother with the filters at all I would not trust them They pay high school kids to do the work and pay minimum wage Quickie lubes dont have Amsoil anyway

The baffle is the inlet side. Just put some steel wool In there.

baffle filter however baffle on this model doesn't unscrew so makes no sense lol

I couldn't get it apart but I'm going to try again with this little tool i made. I will definitely let you know in the next day or two if it does.

just put steel wool in baffle , then drill pin hole in bottom of container then peen the hole almost shut then your done vale cover go's though the steel wool first then drips into container , then it just weep out the bottom. your welcome

Should I add another whole steel wool in the can? Or just in the baffle? I was thinking doing both I don’t know if it benefits having both one in the baffle and one in the can

I couldn't get it apart with by hand but i made a little tool that with fit. I'm going to try again either today or tomorrow. I'll definitely let you know if it does thank you a bunch for watching my upload I appreciate it

Yes, it unscrews from the base. But it looks like a "little can" with holes on each side. That "little can" will also unscrew so you can put media (like a stainless steel scrub) inside of it for better filtration.

Garbage can. Bought a moroso after buying this same can. A lot more money but its actually catching oil and I’m not worried about it falling off its cheap bracket. That aluminum bracket that it uses is garbage just fyi

Never had a issue with bracket but of course u get what u pay for.. my new integra 800hp+ built with css block coming in will have expensive parts.. the z was a poor dudes built my man.. i was broke.. and trying to show others just cuz ur broke doesn't mean u still can't mod.. thanks for commenting i appreciate your time.. im built up a b18c1 with a pr3-4 head TypeR head, all forged internals .. manley, cp and so on .. micro polished and balanced crank, harden gears .. aem standalone..
