This guy is a genius of slide guitar. It's amazing that he spent most of his life on the streets as a hobo, as some may call it. But he turned it around and became the amazing bluesman we've seen in many a year.

@nathandc Жыл бұрын
If I heard correctly, Bo Diddley took his name from the instrument he had learned to make and had then played since his childhood, so he didn't invent it.

Gibson Custom Shop is developing a Seasick Steve signature Diddly Bow. Research and development is in process. Engineers have disassembled Steve's actual diddly bow, and have reproduced every part, down to the finest detail, including scratches and aging of the parts. Each one will be diligently assembled by hand by their finest luthiers. Only 100 will be produced, each will be signed by Steve, and will come with a complete set of official photos and documentation. Estimated Price - $75,000. Case sold separately.

All 100 sold out within 8 minutes of the release last month. I tracked down one owner in Siberia who owned serial no 087. After several offers back and forth, he was willing to sell me his for $250,000, admitting that he'd purchased it for investment only, and was not a diddly bo player. I took a second mortgage on my house, and sold off my entire guitar collection to make up the difference. He refused to ship it, so I had to fly to Siberia to get it. What s beautiful instrument! I'm almost broke now, but I know that within a few years, I can sell the diddly bo for enough money to buy a few vintage Strats and Les Pauls and have enough money left over to retire.

Fucking brilliant. I mean the "jungle beat" from the drums makes the song work, but still . . . hundreds of hours and I have a couple riffs. No songs. The jealousy is real.
