Your truly unbiased and blatantly honest saw reviews are awesome. Too many guys are brand loyal (some paid to be some just stubborn) and it's hard to get a straight up review. I see you tested an old echo 300t, and this both stock and opened up. And you tested a 540t husky. I'll agree that the 300t is a choked up turd. Dead reliable, and will run for decades, but that's where their endearing qualities end. My buddy has an echo 330t that I've ran both stock and muffler modded and I must say it impressed me, knowing what it is. I'd love to see you review the echo 355t. It's supposedly quite a bit hotter than the 330t, and they are a damn good price point saw. Forums seem to say they run right with a 200t/201t once the muffler is opened up on them, but they actually seem to run admirably stock supposedly. I'd love your input.

I’m not gonna even pretend to know what a modification does for the saw. Maybe some nice human will explain it to me. It is such a cute little saw with good cutting power! Note: my hubby took down three trees today, I had on my list to take down. Well long story short, it didn’t go well and he landed two of them on my young pine trees in the memorial grove garden. So I gave some banged up baby pines... kinda bummed. But he was only trying to help me. 👍🏼❤️
@Human13376 жыл бұрын
Sorry for your pines =( Opening up the muffler reduces back pressure and allows more air to pulled into the cylinder, along with more fuel, means more power =)
@seth3646 жыл бұрын
Jesus IsGod By modifying the muffler, he’s allowing more air to pass through the engine (at the cost of increased sound) and thereby increasing the amount of power the saw can output. From the factory most saws these days are weaker than they should be as air can’t escape the restrictive mufflers fast enough, but companies want their saws under certain decibel ratings if possible. It’s a trade off. Just remember what you need for any fire; fuel and air. The more air you can push through the more fuel you can push through, which is why on vehicles you have things like turbo’s and super chargers. (Boost via increased air pressure) There are other modifications that can be done on these saws, like a timing advance (getting your spark at the opportune time) and aftermarket bore kits etc, but that’s all a topic for another video. Hope this helps

Sucks about the air filter. I tell you whats BS to. In 2017 I bought a brand new Husqvarna 390XP. Ran a couple tanks through it, had the saw on the bench cleaning it up. Pulled filter and noticed a trace amount of dust in the throat of the carb. I was like WTF???!!!! Well Husky decided to have a plastic filter mount against a plastic filter base, no rubber or anything to create an air tight seal. So my fix is I keep a film of grease between the two. No other issues with dirt getting in but to think Husky did that on a $1,200 saw chaps my ass and what if I wouldnt have noticed it until 10 tanks in?? Could have scratches on my piston and cylinder. I have since then did a muffler mod and piston and cylinder looked perfect so I caught it in time but still. I love Husky but they dropped the ball there.

I think so. Mine ran poorly out of the box. Very cold blooded. It needed full choke for like 5 minutes and it would still die as soon as you touched the gas. Yes, the low speed was full rich against the limiter. Also, the powerband was very narrow. Throttle response also sucked. Quick throttle changes produced a bog. Way, way too lean. I ran it for 3 min. Then pulled the limiters, muffler screen and opened up the muffler maybe 20% more. Idk if this saw has a cat. If so, it's still in there. After opening the mixture screws almost a full turn each, it's a new saw. Immediate power off idle. I'm blown away. It cuts like a 40cc. Also, run a air cooled 2 cycle oil at 30:1. Not 50:1.

What Greg said, have to increase fuel as well or it'll lean seize.

He pulled the EPA locks..or covers, then adjusted the fuel mixture.

Hey corey, what chain did you decide on for the echo.

Running the stihl 3/8" picco now, bought a 1/4" bar and chain for it, need a drive sprocket now though.

Thanks, that seems to be the popular choice

Human If it shares the same crankshaft size as a cs-355t try an Oregon 544679X for a 9 tooth rim or an Oregon 544675X for an 8 tooth spur. If its different crankshaft size then these are a no go.
