I made a review of mine a while back after using it daily in a solo operation. First off, they're a beast. My 9010T has been great except for the swivel pipe part, it catches and wore out fairly quickly. I don't have the fancy newer straps, mine didn't come with a chest strap, but not an issue unless wearing a wind breaker. I use Echo Gold mix and mine.

Big problem with the starter bolts loosening off and wallowing out the mounting hole, have had very many with that issue , also the ignition kill wire harness behind the fuel tank rubs through next to the throttle cable routing , poor routing , solved the problem with added shrink tubing for insulation...!
@wallysworkin823
@wallysworkin823 Жыл бұрын
Yes I forgot about the wiring for the tube mount throttle behind the tank also, great point! I don’t see starter issues since they changed the bolts and started using lock-tight. We would drill them out and add Time-Sert’s to fix them in the past.

Hi and thanks for the info. I really like Echo power tools. I have aCS501P saw and a 8010 (early one)along with other tools and have to say the 8010 is its a great machine. I am an above average use home owner but for sure not a pro. I was wondering if the dirt being sucked in around the post filter intake tube could be the cause of the cylinder scoring you showed.? All that dirt has to be doing something bad to the engine.!

It certainly doesn’t help things. Echo did have a clearance issue with pistons which they have fixed.

Good info; I used to be a Redmax blower guy, but this new Echo 2 cycle equipment is pretty nice. How do you adjust the idle on the old 8010 carb; you said it's on the top? Do you have to pop the black cover off?
@wallysworkin823
@wallysworkin823 Жыл бұрын
Yes, take the cover off and in the center of the throttle barrel is the screw. You will need a tool called a micro “D” or baby “D” adjustment tool. The Proline micro D 91059 is good but you’ll need to shorten the tool or take off the air filter assembly to get access to the screw.

Great video Wally! I have a PB-8010T that was built during the very beginning of the 3rd production run and I wanted to get your opinion if Echo may have made all the updates to the blower for the final production run? My blower was inspected by a dealer for the recall and was verified that it was built with the new straps but I'm not sure if the recall included checking the torque of the cylinder screws. Also, since Echo has not published a technical data sheet for the 8010, do you have the recommended torque for the following screws: Cylinder to block Carburetor to cylinder Spark plug Exhaust to cylinder Thanks for your excellent video content and a great channel!
@wallysworkin823
@wallysworkin823 Жыл бұрын
Most of the issues have been resolved on the late 8010 and 9010 models. Don't worry too much about torque specs, these engines don't need to be that precise. Get a good "T Handle" T27 and tighten everything up, just don't go crazy. But basically, cylinders are between 70-80 inch pounds, carb to cyl and muffler 30-40 and tighten the spark plug until you feel the "crush washer" bottom out, it's probably in that 40-50 inch pound range. I'll see if I can find some info from Echo.

Having a weird issue with mine once it warms up when I first hit the throttle there's a clacking sound but just when you first hit the throttle full rpm it runs fine. I am seeing alot of fuel build up around the engine that's not coming from the tank. Is that the crank case seal that i see people speaking about?

Hey man, If I want to run a 40:1 mix in the 9010, how would I tune the carb? I run 40:1 in all my stuff because I believe it lubricates and cools better without being too dirty or smoky. I dont want to run 40:1 in a machine tuned for 50:1.
@wallysworkin823

If it’s running normally on 40:1 don’t worry about the adjustment. The difference between 50 and 40 is very minimal. The type of fuel you use is more important.

Hi Wally .I'm replacing the short block on my pb8010t and I was wondering how do you remove the starter recoil part off of the crankshaft? Do you just pound it off or is it threaded on ? I don't think it's threaded but I'm afraid to try and pound it. Thanks. I believe its called the starter Pawl that I'm referring to 13:21
@wallysworkin823
@wallysworkin823 9 ай бұрын
That is the flywheel, take the nut off, you will see two holes that are threaded, take 2 of the bolts that hold the engine to the housing and screw them into those holes. Slowly tighten the bolts until they bottom out on the engine case, keep tightening them until the flywheel pops off. The crankshaft is tapered.

A Redmax 7500 would be my second choice.

I am a consumer, and my new 9010T blower worked great in the first season, but in the second season, the blower started to have compression issues and was hard to start. I always use 50:1 fuel in my 2-cycle equipment to ensure good performance. I took my 9010T to an Echo dealer, and they are telling me I have abused the blower because there is scaring inside the cylinder and the compression is low. I stand by the fact that I have to use 50:1 fuel as that is all I stock in my garage for 2-cycle equipment. So, after 2 years of use with my equipment as a consumer, the Echo dealer is stating the ECHO factory may not honor replacement blower parts to fix the issue. The dealer has had my blower for over 5 months and still doesn't have an answer from the Echo factory. Would you happen to know what I can do next?
