Yes I am aware you can drill the back out to get to the adjuster. This will be addressed in a future video. The point of this video was solely to check this screen before you do anything else.

One of the first things I learned from Dad on two cycle engines,he bought a second hand Lawn Boy back in '67 and he showed me about unplugging the ports on it when it didn't run right, nowadays some of them make it extremely hard to get into without tearing them completely apart.

Just use a propane or MAP torch and get the screen cherry red. Then take a wire brush and what’s left comes right off very easily. Way faster and better than carb spray.

After cleaning the spark arrester, find the hidden adjustment screws on the carb and try to adjust it first before getting a carb kit or carb. The high speed screw is under the primer bulb and the low speed screw is on top of the carb under the brass looking piece where the linkage pivot is. There are many vids for this. Look up “hidden adjustment screws on an SRM 225”” if you have this same trimmer. They almost always need to be adjusted when they are a few months old and have broken in.

Sometimes you gotta clean the screen! I have 6 grey echos and 3 orange ones basically on display. We went to the stihl power heads instead.

@@hanksgarage_ I really like them, my oldest one is probably 5 years old now and still going strong, I loved it when echo came out with the speed wind head,but have since found it just as simple to wind a stihl the old fashoined way and have what I would consider a great deal more,power at a price point within 50 to 80 bucks difference for a power head and a weed eater attachment. I also have a feq extentoins and a 12 inch chainsaw for it that I absolutely love for cutting trees.

Still have to rebuild the carb. Parts have been on back order

I changed my carb, spark plug, fuel filter, fuel lines, and air filter it was still doing the bogging I thought it was the engine. Come to find out it was this damn screen
