I got my dsm back on the road by buying another motor which happened to be an automatic GSX, I have a manual Gst. I didn’t even have to modify the plate. It looked the exact same and ran with it. Never had an issue. So why that plate looks like that amazes me

@802Garage

Pulling it out of there would be a major pain. I pulled the trans there, as crummy as it was to do. The plan is to get it running under its own power and drive out of there. did you ever think the reason your mitsubishi would not start, was because of the range sensor witch is also known as the neutral switch..... this particular part goes out on the mitsubishi eclipse which stops the car from shifting properly or sometimes not even hesitate to start...... can you do a video on where that sensor is located i would really appreciate it.....
@802Garage
@802Garage 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the suggestion! I actually plan to disable the neutral switch before attempting to start the car again, so I will do a video on that. However, I do know it was not the issue for my car. I could try to start it and the starter would spin, but it would not engage the flywheel. The issue turned out to be a badly modified starter plate combine with badly worn transmissions starter bolt holes. Thanks for the comment!

Unfortunately they aren't in great shape. I actually wanted to buy a replacement set and they've all dried up. I like them though despite being cheapies.

@@wickedautoworxx1830 Thanks! IDK if you've seen the eBay tails it has too, but I think they look really good on the red car. Sadly also in bad shape now. Will mostly be going OEM. I actually have another GSX shell now which I'll be making nice. Still gonna keep this chassis, but do something wild with it. More content soon.

oh my god what a rust bucket. You could see the shock tower is rusted out with a big hole thru it, if that was me i wouldn't put the time into that car. Yeah the previous owner is an idiot using a starter plate made for the automatic transmission. He could of avoided the uneccearry mods
@1998gst4611

unnecessary mods and bought a new oem manual 5 speed starter plate and i don't think they should cost much from the mitsubishi dealership

@802Garage 5 жыл бұрын
@@1998gst4611 Yep you're spot on. If you watch some of my newest videos on the car I fixed all those issues. So if nothing else the car has a solid drive train now! Most people would scrap the shell for sure and that's part of why I want to save it. Go against the grain and save something that normally wouldn't be. If it gets to be too much someday, I can always get another shell. Thanks for watching and commenting!

That's similar to how some paddle shift gear boxes work. I think your idea would result in very jarring shifts!

Why dont you pull the engine out and fix all the rust before?
@802Garage
@802Garage 6 жыл бұрын
Mostly location. Trying to do that while.the car is still on the lawn. Once it can move and I know it runs well and the power plant is worth the work, I can do more detail rust work. Pulling the engine and trans as a unit is not that much more work anyways. Have def had that suggestion a few times though. The worst rust can be fixed with engine and trans in.

Why doesn't it spin when you give it power?
@802Garage
@802Garage 6 жыл бұрын
So the issue was a badly modified starter plate and badly rounded out transmission starter bolt holes. I've fixed both of those. Should start soon!
@MannyFresh1x

I see, but I mean why doesn't the starter motor spin when you were giving it power. It just popped out but wouldn't spin
@802Garage
@802Garage 6 жыл бұрын
Oooh. That's because there are two actual parts of the starter that need to be energized. One is the solenoid which pops out the gear, the other is the actual motor itself. If you give power to both connections, it will pop out and spin.

It's called Vermont! Hahaha. Anywhere in the north and New England, really. 2Gs are known for having very poor seam sealing and for the front strut towers running out. It has been sitting for a few years at my place, but almost all of the rust was there before I got it, I just didn't know how bad it was. I've actually been treating it so it spreads less! It's a bummer, but it is fixable. Most people wouldn't, but I want to!
