Eco-printing on cotton: wrapping bundles

Here's a quick video of how I wrap eco-print bundles. Unlike many eco-printers, I don't wrap around a stick or other firm object. I prefer to just fold the bundle in on itself and then tie tightly. This creates a semi-flexible bundle that fits easily into the dyepot. This piece was mordanted with iron and eco-printed with eucalyptus leaves, using the method described in my ebook Gum Leaf Alchemy. Learn more at www.gumnutmagic.com/ebook/

Yes, this one is mordanted with a homemade iron mordant (rusty metal dissolved in vinegar). I have step by step instructions in an ebook on my website 💓

Hey there. I absolutely love all your work! I was just wondering after you mordant the cotton and dried it and cured it for a week, do you re-moisten the fabric overnight before laying out leaves and bundling or do you do it on dry fabric? Thank you so much for all your wonderful content!

Hello, I usually just place the leaves onto dry fabric. It will get wet when I put it in the dye pot

@@louisastaemmler319 no worries. Occasionally I will mordant them and then eco-print straight away, while they are still wet, but yes, dry is my main method. It's good to experiment and find out what works for you.
