EcoBoost Mustang Throttle body upgrade for the Focus 😍

I found this install and instantly wanted to try it. Such a cheap and easy thing to do! If you are in the market for a throttle body on these cars this seems like the best option. Since I've installed this the car has driven perfectly with slight but noticeable help down low, although I do also have the RS intake box and k&n filter that helps get the air in.

Your original factory clamp with the tabs still in the hose would’ve worked just fine. That’s what I used.

Sounds good. I need help with my wagon. It's an se and is amazing none the less. Its having fuel rail codes and only when the battery light kicks on and (usually if I get on the gas) I cannot find this part anywhere.

What size screws did you use for this 2.3L TB please cause they are longer than the 2.0L TB as I'm in the process of purchasing a TB for my Focus? Thanks for the knowledge man

How to check diameters and types of throttle body? Any websites or informations? I want to upgrade my Mondeo mk4 2.3L with 60mm throttle, can I replace to mustang 2.3T?

yes.. you can be a youtube expert, and stuff what ever on the car. and say it makes it more powerful....why dont you paint the TB red and get an extra 35 hp?

Have you been looking at your gas mileage since the TB was installed? Did it drop or are you maintaining?

I try to keep up with the gas mileage and haven't seen a drop.

What Year the TB MT fits on? I have a 2014 SE Flex would it Fit? did the upgrades with K&N Cold air upgrade. But definitely would like to upgrade the throttle Response. Let me know thank you 🙏

If you have the 2.0 liter engine it will work

Did you have to do any programming or calibration on this after the install? Also, I am picking on up but need to make sure it's the right one. Part number GB8Z*9E926*A, correct? And I'm looking at one about $112. I have to buy it on Amazon since every other site I have checked requires a vin to verify part fitment.

I saw the part list. More or less just being safe. The whole "measure twice, cut once" thing is always a good rule to follow. 😏 Appreciate your help. Just installed my MSD ignition coils and Denso plugs today. All I need is this throttle body and an exhaust kit and I should be fine with the performance. Then I'll focus on style.

Tasca doesn't need a Vin, not sure but they may be cheaper.

@@OutOfLineGarage I just checked the Tascaparts site. Unless I'm on the wrong site, they want $106.29 for that throttle body. No big deal though. It's not too much more then what you said to expect. Haven't calculated shipping prices for florida though, or tax. Also need the gasket and clamp. Not sure of I'll need a new hose from the TB to the MAF since I have a silicone one and I doubt it'll stretch as much as the stock one.

Any adverse affects of this modification to date? I'm going down the path and ordered my TB today. Install by next week. Also "what is having a wideband laying around?" Thanks.

Nope, been working great. I have a wideband from another project that I'm currently not using for that so I can install it in my Focus. A wideband measures air/fuel mix in the exhaust. If that is what you meant.

Not a tuner, so thank you for elaborating. Yeah TB upgrade is first followed by JMS PedalBoost. Hoping the JMS PB will eliminate acceleration lag

Can you still use the throttle body spacer even tho this is bigger. Its just bigger going to the air box not the end going against the engine right!

I would say maybe look into a spacer for the same engine mustang. But honestly tb spacers are a useless mod.

Does that mean that the Rs one will work aswell being it uses the Ecoboost mustang platform just Higher output? Basically would a RS thottle body bolt on also?

Rs uses the same throttle body as the st, the mustang throttle body is bigger, it's a 63mm while the rs and below are 57mm

It’s just an oem RS air box, you can get one on CJ pony parts or tasca oem ford parts.

Yup, it used to be just a standard model. I picked up the full air box from Ebay. Wasn't that much.

Out of Line Garage for sure. What are all the mods you’ve done? I’ve got a 2015 SE hatchback that I added a cool air intake to, did a snorkel delete, and I’m planning to do a muffler delete and get that same throttle body.

Hey man. Have you ever done any business with Rock Auto? I noticed they have a throttle body matching the part number #GB8Z*9E926*A, but it's made by a company called Standard Motor Products (S20240). According to Rock Auto, they deal with all OEM and OEM grade equipment, so I was wondering if this would be an option for the TB upgrade. The price difference is about $60 after taxes and shipping since the Tasca price has since climbed to $146 last time I had checked for just the throttle body by its self. Rock offers their model for $124.96 after tax and shipping. What are your thoughts on this direction?

Rockauto is a great place to grab parts, do all the time. Yea, they seem to have that as an option now. I'd say go for it.

Ok. Just an update... I have decided to purchase the throttle body from rock auto for the sake of testing. I had it in now for about three weeks and so far, it's been operating normally. Saved about $50 for the throttle body from the current Tasca price and it came with a gasket so there is that savings too, plus shipping to Florida was not too bad. You can not get the bolts from rock, but I was able to obtain them through another Ford parts vendor named Thoroughbred Ford out of Kansas City, Missouri, which resulted in a savings of about $8 in shipping costs to around Tampa Florida. I do love Tasca, but the shipping they charge was killing me so I searched for some parts vendors that were closer to see if the shipping would be any lower and I found Thoroughbred. Just wanted to share that here for any others seeking to do the same. Hope this helps. BTW, fell behind on my upgrades. After posting here about it a few months back, I went on vacation, then ended up with covid delta and was down for almost a solid month. It was a disaster. Now all is well and getting back to the build.

Can u put flex in with gas that’s already in the tank I’ve been wanting to transfer o we to flex but scared to cause no one can give me a straight answe

Yes, as long as you have the flex fuel version you can wait till your next fill up. Even if it's a quarter tank of regular you will be fine, corn is around 112 octane. The computer just compensates for the mix.

The ones I have found I’m afraid if I buy it it’s something that doesn’t even work or fit on my 2014 Ford Focus SE sedan

Engine in these cars is a heat soak. Put the closed air box back on if temps outside are regularly over 80°F

The answer to both would be a yes as long as it is the 2.0L engine.

Depends. If it's a hard pipe you will need a new silicone adapter between the throttle body and intake tube. If it's a soft rubber intake then no. You will have to swap the entire thing.

You might be able to boil some water and get it malleable enough to stretch on. 🤷‍♂️
