Zappa's universe, it all started with his high school music teacher letting him come up to the chalkboard and place notes on the stave. Give that teacher an award for teacher of the Century. Without that moment, we would not have this most unique composer in the American music catalog. Zappa could take you on some bumpy rides and then give you sheer velvet. Zappa collected everything he heard, then re arraigned it for his own entertainment. What a mind. I've seen Frank Zappa for president bumper stickers on cars.

I was lucky enough to see this band some years ago. We were skeptical when we got there but i swear within the 1st six measures of the concert we were hooked. Ed's bands are the best. His arrangements are great!

Phenomenal concert, Ed. Killer version of "Sofa", and love the transition from Moonlight Sonata into She's So Heavy. And, its always good to see Napoleon.

Dude this is UNGODLY!!! This is like even better than a Zappa cncert. Forecasting Uncle Meat INSIDE of Holiday in Berlin, forecasting Eat the Wuestion INSIDE Uncle Meat. Zappa would have LIVED FOR THESE MOMENTS! I mean seriously the Holiday in Berlin/ Uncle Meat stack was so unprecedented. Beyond well done. The gold standard of Zappa cover bands!

I saw Ed and his band deliver the goods in a Zappa program at the Bottom Line (RIP) in NYC in the late 90s, and was gobsmacked. I'd never heard a proper big band before , and was blown back in my chair like that that guy in the old Maxell tape ad. Ed's arrangements are beautiful, and the assembled musicians always deliver them with gusto!

What's funny is that Zapoa made fun of jazz. He didn't really like it. However, he had to use its complex structures to realize his compositions.

Imitation is is flattering but if you base your sound after someone else's work, worse a legend, you may not have too much to say (musically or Lyrically) yourself. Great, you like Zappa, but you are not Zappa, BE YOU, with maybe a Zappa influence.
