Casio F-91W / A158 is the best budget beater you can get. I have several because they're light, durable, reliable, and inexpensive. The F-91W always get new adapters and straps for longevity and versatility. As a straight purchase the A158 is impossible to beat.

Great video! I enjoy seeing what other people carry in their EDC packs. This one helped a lot. I have always been a gear guy and struggled with over doing it in the weight department. Simple is best, but it adds up in weight if your OCD like I am. Plus I don't have a lot of money, so I have to be careful when I make a purchase. Thanks for the ideas.

About six months ago I made the switch from carrying a Leatherman Surge to carrying the Knipex xs Cobra pliers and a Victorinox Fieldmaster. Even though I'm carrying two tools, it's way lighter and the pliers work much better for nuts and bolts. The only thing I've missed is a couple of times I wished I had wire cutters on the pliers.

I agree a SAK suited to one's personal needs paired with a set of Knipex Cobra pliers 5" or 7" is a hard combo to beat. My EDC fav combo is the One Handed Trekker and the 5" Cobra plier. I do like my Leatherman Wave but it is in a BOB kit as it's just not as suited to my daily needs as the OHT and the Cobras.

I agree on the SAK and pliers option. For a shorter bushwalk or a fishing trip with the Mrs and kids, I carry a Camper or Alox Pioneer or a GAK. - Weighs next to nothing. For bush camping trips and longer hikes I carry a Soldier 08 on my belt. I perfected my EDC through performing volunteer rescue work. In my experience I have found that you really only need something to cut with, something to make holes with, a screwdriver and something to loosen and tighten bolts with. There is a tendancy with multitool manufacturers in my opinion to offer too many features. Which then results in something gimmicky, bulky, too heavy and over engineered.
@markcowan3366
@markcowan3366 2 жыл бұрын
I agree, they also don't seem to offer the assortment of most used tools in 1 package. Atleast for my needs. I have gone through SAKs, Leatherman, and Gerber multi tools and so many times I wish I had a specific tool from another model (within the same company lineup) in place of a tool that I have no need for. I wish these companies would atleast give us the ability to build our own tools, even at a premium price. I would pay $200+ for the ability to customize my multitool from the factory.

Those are some great recommendations, especially those Cobra pliers with a SA knife. For a revolver, for the same reasons, I went with a Ruger Redhawk .45 Colt/.45ACP variant. Right now, at least where I live, .45ACP is a lot easier to find or order online. Also, modern .45 Colt loads can get the same "work" done at lower pressures than their .44 Mag counterparts. For certain restrictive states like CA, I'll carry a Gen3 Glock in 9mm because it's on "the approved list" by the CA DOJ. A properly carried G26, or similar platform like the S&W, is pretty hard to spot. Non-CA people can carry anything they want (at their own peril) as long as they have a 10-round mag in the gun. The 10-round mags keep it legal which help, if caught, keeping things in misdemeanor territory. More importantly, I think the most useful self-defense item is OC spray. It's legal to carry in the People's Republik of Kommiefornia as well as in most other places where personal safety and noisemakers are frowned upon. The difference between "bear spray" and OC for humans is that the OC component is of a higher concentrate. Bears, having a much more sensitive nose, don't require the same level of concentration. The advantage to BS is that is sprays much further than one intended for humans. Thanks for sharing your valuable insights.

@robertsauceda4757 2 жыл бұрын
I have two of the same Redhawk, if you're only shooting 30k PSI loads in it youre missing out, the Redhawk can take .45 colt loads in the 50k PSI range that puts it in spitting distance of .454 casull

Hey, have you ever tested the HydroBlu Water filters? They are a lot like a sawer filterm but much more versatile. The HydroBlu Versa Flow looks like a sawyer mini, but it has a female threaded end on top and bottom. It also has a carbon filter you can just screw on to it. They either bought out Renovo or have teamed up with them, and they even sell the CNOC water bags on the website. You can buy the versa flow with a gravity flow system where you just need to buy a dry bag or a bucket to make the system work. Or you can buy a system with a dry bag included. They even have a pressurized jerry can system is you need a lot of water. Pretty cool company. I bet they would send you products to review or maybe even sponsor you.

So little information to add to the 44 mag , MA compliance only involves purchasing of the firearm from a dealer. You can carry what you want as long as capacity is 10 or less. Since youre not a ma resident you don’t have to worry What you do need to worry about is even possessing a firearm without a permit. There is no reciprocity there but They offer non res ones but only good for a year and takes about a year for approval. You can travel through the state With a firearm and be protected under fopa. Stay in VT, NH or ME much better places

Might consider getting you r hand a little more up on that grip and more engagement with your left. In video, it appears that the web of your right hand needs to be more engaged. I prefer the G20sf or G29 (compact) as they are compliant in all states. The 10mm will definitely take down fat grizzly's and its simple shape and reliability allow for "light" carry with more capacity (which I find to be far more important). In non-communist states you can even go to standard 15 rounds in either platform. Not to mention the ability to add maritime cups that will allow the gun to fire more often with mud or water. Oh yeah and far faster follow up shots even with one hand situations. I have a one handed mag dump video on my channel that shows how much softer the recoil is than a .44 in one hand

@Charles, Well technically Channel Locks are a brand name of a slip joint plier and the Knipex actually lock in a specific position. So although they are similar, imo the Knipex Cobra pliers are superior in function and versatility. You should give them a try as I suspect you would be pleasantly surprised to find they work better then Channel Locks in many applications. However Channel Locks are good basic versatile pliers as well even if their not as versatile and functional as Knipex imo.

Really the charge?? I remember not long ago, saying that the ST300 was the best for outdoors. The charge was already available. Anyways. Good video

Ya the charge is great for me working on the rv and having it on my person. Not. The best for outdoors work, but still good.

Man, go from instinct solar to fenix series, it's way better than the instinct, the fenix comes with a full gps map and more others.

I appreciate seeing EDCs with the firearm included. It's weird when I don't see it. Kind of like an oxymoron. The purpose of edc is being prepared and yet you are not prepared for the most important part (protection) when there is no gun.

You're missing a long gun. If crap hits the fanb in any way shape or form, you need a long gun or two. AR, shotgun, etc. To be ultimately prepared. Body armor/ chest rig is optional but recommended.

This is on body EDC, I have plenty of other firearms with me but I am not hiking or going to the store with a shotgun strapped to my chest. Though that would be zombie edc.

Excellent channel, you used to have a good number of reviews on gear considered great bang for the buck prices, it seems most of your gear now is pretty pricey, starting to consider the gear you review as too pricey, my 2 cents

Thank you for the comment and reminder. Budget gear is always a big part of what I do. As an example, the buck 112/110 slim, the LAPG flashlight, the knipex/Swiss army multitool option, Shield 9mm, Garmin instinct all on the cheaper side of very category.

A .44 rifle would give you a 50 state legal rifle and could use the ammo you already have. Rough market now though. Assuming, wink wink, you don't already have something else stashed away... 🤣

My Rossi .44 mag Trapper lever gun holds 10 rds and will take anything fast. Limited to 100-150 yds, no scope, but durable as heck. Wouldn't trade it for the world.
