Now make a version for stretch markers instead of splits. Would that workflow still apply?

in my experience, stretch markers can work, but i prefer the split and slit edit method because it 100% preserves the audio. REAPER does a good job of preserving pitch with stretch markers up to a certain point, but for transient data like drum hits, my preference is most definitely slit editing

Reason I chose stretch markers over SLIT editting was mainly borne out of laziness and want to automate the process a little bit with the help of scripts. I used the script "create stretch markers at transients" and having said transients to snap to the grid since SM's don't have snap offset which worked until the track grouping update came out. Now the script only marks the selected track but never quite cascading down the others like it used to. Now my question is this: Is there a way to automatically snap your splits to the grid via script or Quantize?

@@huginnmuninn1130 forgive the typos, I meant SLIP editing 🥹 I do show a method in my course for mostly automated snapping to grid after splitting but I still prefer to do it manually for the sake of having much more control and getting better results that sound more human. I also tend to not cut and move every single hit. I choose to work in broad strokes as much as possible. Your mileage may vary, and I understand some styles tend to favor very rigid robotic performances, if you'll figure the expression. Like technical death metal where everything is precisely quantized, for example. Long story short, if your method is working for you, I see no real reason for you to change anything unless you come across a method that significantly enhances your workflow.

@@LetsTalkAboutReaper All in good humor,bud. 🤣 Yeah the stretch marker worked, till it didn't with the track grouping update. And yes I agree with keeping the feel of the player behind the kit which is why I only Quantize on every 4-8 bars depending on the material. I will definitely check out your course and If you have one about mixing workflows then I'd definitely sign up. Love your channel and your brand of humor, btw.

The parenthood of this technique is not the mentionned youtube channel. I made a video about this technique à long tile ago (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bcmZgpV-mtOqdHU.htmlsi=D60_Ql51TzFyE3Yy) and a lot of "english speakers" just copied the trick...

This technique predates your video, the concept of slip editing has been around for quite some time and most of us learned it from elsewhere and adapted the workflow to suit our own needs and preferences a bit. I most certainly did not invent slip editing, and I'm pretty sure you didn't either
