In my point of view Edwind Van der Sar is the second best golkeapper in the world after Artur Boruc .

SAR HAS RULED SINCE HE WON THE UEFA CUP WITH AJAX BACK IN 92 IN HIS EARLY 20S. Yes that means 17 yrs at the highest level and still breaking records and winning prices. Approaching his 40s he is even getting better and better ... a true legend. AFCA

VDS is the best keeper in the PL and to me top 3 in the world. just look at the impact he has had since returning to the team now in january. tomasz kuszczak did good, but VDS is fantastic. i truly hope he takes one more season for united.

Hey Guys! I'm Czech and I can confirm that Cech is not great goal keeper anymore. He was outstanding before his head injury, but after that, he have lost his form and became commercial star with his black "helmet". He is now just trade brand for Chelsea. PERIOD PS: Sorry for my bad english.

David Luiz should be playing in defensive midfield and has good skills going forward but is too inexperienced to be a good centre half at this point, just look at all the needless penalties he gave away this season. Clearly, VDS has a much better back four to shield him, forcing opponents to take long-range pot shots at him which are easy to save and look spectacular. When you watch Chelsea, on the other hand, the defending isn't calm at all, it's nervous. Also United as a whole are better atm.

i think cech's case was similar to United's... he also has the best defense covering his ass in terry and carvalho like us with ferdinand and vidic. still VDS makes better saves IMO :P

@ronaldothebest11, please watch some football before making stupid comments. You can't compare Cech with VDS, both are great goalkeepers. Cech took a head injury and now has to wear a helmet in all of his games, yet he still plays well. Also, you have to look at the defenses of the sides. Manchester United has Ferdinand and Vidic who is an absolute beast on the back line while Chelsea have Terry, who needs to stop doing his teammates' wives, and Alex, who is fairly average, or David Luiz.

Oi since Im from Amsterdam obviously Im more interested in AFCA and Sar really did an excellent job for us during the 6 seasons he played for us, he even made us world champion by winning the penalty shoot out against Gremio. More like the most over-rated goalkeeper in the world.He's awful at penalties.Italy won the penalites at the WC because of the one french player David Trezesomething totally missed. And Holland clobbered Italy 3-0.Van Der Sar kept a clean sheet while Buffon let 3 in.

van der Sar ones sais when he was yhoung he first didn't want to become a goal keeper but when his theam didn't had one they said well than it would have to be Edwin because he is the longest man and he seems to be quite a good keeper. (he's 197 cm)
