If you want to learn a pain free, effortless golf swing you need to watch this tip. In it, I go through 6 reasons you'll increase your clubhead speed and hit the ball more solidly just by loosening up plus, this swing will finally end your pain so you can have more fun playing golf.
Pick Up Free Samples of The Body Swing here: bodyswing.com/freesamples/
Everyone wants more clubhead speed so they can hit the ball longer. It makes sense to swing harder right? Wrong. When you swing harder, you tighten up and cause other things to happen that actually lose distance and you could actually hurt yourself.
An effortless golf swing has you swinging looser not harder. The problem is it goes against human nature. Hopefully by the time you watch this tip, you'll understand why this easy golf swing will actually hit the ball just as long, if not longer, than you ever have so it'll convince you to try it.
Once you do, you will finally generate more clubhead speed, you'll make more solid contact and you'll be playing pain free golf.

Got it Paul! I've been enjoying your videos for 4 months now and I've learned SO MUCH ! Bunkers - I'm fearless now. Putting - amazing and now the Driver. This video was my AHA moment. I've been working on turning my hips, but it hasn't been fluid like you do. So today, I swung a broom stick with loose hands and relaxed body. BAM! I've already added 25 yards to my drives this year and I believe this will add another 20+. Thank you Paul. Your BodySwing program is excellent and worth every dollar.

Paul, I am very thankful for the amazing results your golf instruction has made in my golf game. I tried traditional golf instruction and golf pros were trying to force my 51 year old body into painful positions I was unable to reach. I have been doing all of your recommended practice exercises and I am amazed at how consistently pure and far I am striking the ball after 6 months of daily practice. My handicap has dropped dramatically and continues to improve. I recently entered a state golf tournament and shot a personal best 76. The guys I play golf with all asked what changes I made to transform my game and I sent them to your website and KZfaq videos. Also, I no longer have back pain during and after golfing. I cannot thank you enough. You are the best golf instructor period! Best regards, Chris

Glad you found me. I want people to do a swing they can actually do. It has to be simple too so people actually understand what they are even trying to do. In no way should you be in pain playing golf. If you are you are doing it wrong. This is a swing for life and you put in the work now it's paying off big time. Great round you had especially in a tournament. Thanks for the promo to others. I truly appreciate it. One day everyone will be on board but I get it. They need to try everything else first. Seems like I am the last resort for most people.

This video has really helped by ball striking. I am absolutely crushing long straight drives. I finally get it. Yesterday I had my best driving day ever...hit almost every fairway, in the past two weeks on the same course, i had my best drives on several holes. I’ve gone from 220 to 250 on my drives. Several times yesterday, i was less than 120 out after my tee shot. Paul, thank you for the great tips.

This series the last couple of months is amazing. Been doing what you say and its is working, slowly, some ol' dogs take sometime to get it down. The main thing, for me, was the quicker hips at the start, that seemed to loosen everything else; maybe by getting that hip turn, everything else has to follow quickly/looser (club head speed) to square the face. The feeling the of the club 'weight' has made me loosen arms and wrist; got to feel the weight. Noticed less stress on my body also. Enjoy your humor and patience and explanations. Paul, I must confess that I thought I had it but really, I didn’t. Well I REALLY do have it now. It is so different than anything I’ve used before. The body gathers AGAINST itself and then released with the hips. The hands are almost non existent which is crazy. I always thought the release was controlled with the hands and wrists but no! The release is controlled by the left side. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction Paul. It is so much more fun and less draining after 18 holes and I’m not dragging. Best regards.

This is where my swing needs to go. I tried this yesterday and it has improved albeit, it is not consistent. I appreciate that it takes time to develop the muscle memory to become more consistent. I also realize that even the pros have the odd miss-hit. The key for me is accepting that in golf, trying "harder" is not supporting a relaxed, effortless swing. There-in lies a significant hurdle. Yesterday, I shot 96. That is an excellent score for me. I made the perimeter of the greens on long par 5s in 3 swings....then added 4 to the cup :( , but I digress! Thank you Paul for providing a template/goal/objective that will without a doubt serve any 90-100+ golfer.
@paulwilsongolf
@paulwilsongolf 3 жыл бұрын
At the level you are at you have work to do on your swing. If you can keep the concept of the hand and arm unit as a unit that hinges and rehinges and it is attached to your body that is coiling and uncoiling you have the image of the swing. Then it is refining it. Power it with the legs and hips not the arms and you will be miles ahead of those trying to hit it hard all their life.

I’ve watched several of your vids this past week and its crazy how much sense it makes. It’s all body physics and I cant wait to get on the range later today and start working on all these tips, which are free and way better already than any paid lessons ive had in the past. what is sorely lacking in most golf instructors is they fail to explain the why’s and reasons for the correct body mechanics. I’ve been told countless times not to grip the club too hard to use a light touch like im holding a birds nest blah blah blah. What you have finally given me is the understanding of why, and it’s so we can keep our wrists loose, which is the start of a good swing. All the other tips follow this and I finally understand what I’ve been doing wrong and when I do hit good shots its likely because I’m employing some or most of your amazing tips. Would love to one day come out and get a live lesson, hats off to you my friend. I’ll report back in a few weeks.

Today at the driving range I was using my PW swinging through the ball nice and easy, it's amazing how wonderful it sounds off the face, I was aiming at the 100 yrd pin, I hit it three times and close many times. A golf instructor was teaching a young woman and he said to her, now that's what I want you to do, not knowing that I heard him. This effortless swing that Doc Wilson is teaching is to be taken serious or you can swing like a batter outta hell and keep getting hot over frustration:), all you got to lose is old bad habits. I feel great with my not so perfect yet effortless swing, but it can only get better.

Yeah, taking a break is a problem. Remember that human nature is telling you to hit the object sitting in front of you and hit it hard. This means you will hit with arms. Whenever you take a break in the future start off by working the wrists back and forth thinking hinge and rehinge keeping the wrists loose. Then as you did, you start out slow and build it up with the legs and hips while keeping the arms and wrists super loose. You did it and now you know how to get it back. It is really all about wanting to hit. Any break and people will always hit when they start out.

Great advice all the way around. I once had an instructor ask me to do the following drill. He asked me to throw my hardest punch and he then asked me to throw my quickest jab. Doing those two movements were vastly different even though they were both punches. When I set up to throw my hardest punch I clenched my fist and immediately tensed up getting ready to exert Max force. When I set up to throw my quickest jab my body instantly relaxed and I became very loose to get ready to snap a quick punch. That is the difference between force and speed. We need speed to hit the ball farther, we need to be loose and tension free.
@paulwilsongolf
@paulwilsongolf 3 жыл бұрын
Loose and tension free is a great though. Once you are though you need to use your legs and hips as the power source which you would have done on the first punch. So legs and hips of the first punch combined with loose and relaxed arms of the second.
@legend9018
@legend9018 3 жыл бұрын
@@paulwilsongolf agreed! The golf swing is a fairly complex movement that requires you to be loose and somewhat rigid at the same time. You cannot be so loose that you are swaying all over and have no low point consistency but you cannot also be so rigid that you have no speed. Your videos really all extremely helpful. The dropping the right elbow tip to prevent the over the top swing is really fantastic. That move also promotes keeping your head behind the ball especially with the driver swing. Thank you for your great swing tips. Following your advice, I have totally reshaped my golf swing, going from an arms oriented to a mostly body oriented swing. Hinging and rehinging with loose wrists and arms has placed my new swing in a higher scale. I am a 61 years old man with a 16 handicap that plays at least once a week. I find this happens a lot to me too because the arms try to take over control at some point either at transition or on the downswing. If you hold your pose at the end of the swing you will immediately see the key difference between the well struck straight shot (without arms and using the body) and the swing using the arms for power. Currently I am getting this right about 3/10. I am a slow learner/adaptor to this technique so I am guessing it will take me a while to get the consistency necessary to lower my golf scores. Worth it though in my opinion and I am enjoying learning. Another consequence is that I am more ‘chilled’ on the course because I am no longer trying to hit the ball all the time so not firing up all that adrenaline and getting angry with the result thereby trying to hit the next drive even harder etc. This not only changes your technique, it changes your whole attitude. It takes time to make this change work though.

Hi Paul I love your instructions and have watched most of them over the years. However I have always been an arms swinger and lack the consistency . Although I have been quite a low handicap(9) I just cannot grasp not using my arms. I have tried your effortless body golf swing but just cannot get it . Please help . How do I get the sensation of not using my arms . Its so difficult. Cheers Edward

Work on the neutral grip first and get the wrists hinging and rehinging. Then you make the arm unit move by coiling and uncoiling your body. Keep in mind I don't want floppy arms. I teach powerless arms which is you not hitting or helping the shot in the downswing. So as you work on this you are feeling your arms. Your last step is to turn them off. Here's ANOTHER THING you just said that most other golf teachers DON'T TEACH ! You said , " I want you to hold it 8 OUT OF 10 " as far as gripping the golf club goes whereas the majority of other teachers say grip it " 3 OR 4 out of 10 " . I always wondered how the HELL you can even HOLD ONTO THE CLUB gripping it THAT LIGHT so once again I like YOUR teachings ALOT BETTER ! Like you said it's not THE GRIP that needs to be REAL LOOSE - it's THE ARMS !

hi Paul, more reasons to switch to an effortless swing.. I have been trying to switch from a swing I have developed over 40+years, and played fairly well.. Switching to this swing has been a challenge in that to eliminate my arms, I have done your drills on wrist hinge etc.. Question I have, is the set up.. aka, distance from the ball-- with a looser swing, one would have to set up further? as "conventional" swing would be closer?-- would that be correct.. As it is a new feeling/swing that inconsistency is "consistent".. I know it will take awhile to get it, as it took me 40+years with my old swing.. thanks.
@paulwilsongolf
@paulwilsongolf 3 жыл бұрын
No real change in distance to the ball. Toe slightly higher than the heel then measure the butt to belt buckle at 6-7". Make sure you see the simplicity of the swing. I used to make it complicated and it got me nowhere. Simple is the key. See the wrists hinging and rehinging this unit is attached to the body coiling and uncoiling. It really is that simple. You watch your ball to tell what is or isn't working.

I watch all of your videos and I’m learning so much. How much of a role does flexibility play in the looser swing. I feel locked up by my hips and hamstrings. Like they’re stopping me from rotating. Loosening up sounds easy but it is pretty hard to do. I teach an instrument and I tell students to relax and loosen their wrists. Kids don't have muscles so it is easier, but adults usually have a very difficult time loosening up. Some never loosen up and others could take years.

Bryson certainly hinges and rehinges his wrists. I just watched his swing yesterday. He is certainly using his legs and hips too. His experiment was more distance. I didn't think it was going to work but it is starting to. He is a pro with an amazing short game. So he can hit it long and still get the ball in the hole. Not sure it will continue. We'll see. I want the average player to actually play great golf for life. The average player is already hitting hard and it is not working. So it is time to do something else. Let's turn the arms off and see what happens.

I’ve been working on this effortless swing, referring to your ignition golf sit for details. It has been really hard to make the change. So hard to just “let it go”! But it is beginning to happen, I think. I’ve used the loosening drill where I let the club shaft touch the back of my neck, then swing. The club kinda flys out on its own coming around to hit the ball, resulting in a reasonably decent shot. That is giving me the feeling of letting go. I’m starting to feel that My arms fly out of control, my wrists snap through on their own, but somehow the ball goes in the right direction. Any way for me to send you a video of my new effortless swing to get feedback? That would be so helpful Thanks Paul
@paulwilsongolf
@paulwilsongolf 3 жыл бұрын
You are starting to get it. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain in trying it. The best way to do this is go out late a night by yourself. 3 extra balls in your pocket. Sit there and go super loose and keep doing it with the balls you have. This way no one is watching you. You are not keeping score. You are just trying to do it when you play. We no longer do swing analysis as they take us way too long. Instead I created an app called CoachLink that allows us to work with you through video on your phone. We actually work with you live at home, at the range or when you play. Once I can see you I or my assistant can check your positions and/or give you a few things to work on. These are short sessions which is all anyone needs to know they are working on the right thing. Find out more here: bodyswing.com/coachlink

I do line it off the toe. I was a George Knudson follower years ago. He wanted off the toe so when your arms stretch out it hits the center. I checked his swing. This is not the case. His head moved forward slightly. Look him up. He was compared to Hogan with his ball striking. Won 4 times on the tour.

@@paulwilsongolf have you mentioned this line off the toe in any of your videos? After noticing this, I started lining it off the toe and found I started making center contact on my drives vs hitting the heel when I lined it up with the center of the driver face.
@paulwilsongolf
@paulwilsongolf Жыл бұрын
I was a follower of George Knudson (look him up) many years ago. He want it lined off the toe to allow for inertia pulling the arms out through impact. Once you get used it it it's kind off hard to line in the middle again. Feels kind of cramped. If it works for you keep trying it but typically hitting with arms sends it over the top so you hit the heel. Stay focused on turning your arms off and powering the swing with the legs and hips.
