Yes I have both snowblowers. My son can use one and I use the other. Same here, never looked back. Maybe not for everyone but I like the advantages of no oil and gas. Plus it’s cleaner.

In most instances, throwing distance can be sacrificed for battery life, there are some instances that require throwing distance. Like what? At a previous home, my driveway was surrounded by structures. My only option was to throw the snow off the back of the driveway, which was 30' to 50' feet.

They just released the 10.0 Ah battery model that comes with two 10 ah batteries and two rapid chargers for $1600, only $300 more than the model with two 7.5 ah batteries and a regular dual charge Definitetly worth the extra $300

@@socommaster yes they did and I just got one SNT2406 a week ago with upgraded cabling system to fix the loose chute issue on the 2020 model. EGO will also be releasing 12Ah battery in 2022 so I guess there will be a 12Ah package for next year (SNT2407??).

Mowers are normally pretty good at least good brands are snowblowers I feel have alot more strain on them

Honestly batteries don’t work the best in cold conditions. I prefer the corded blowers rather than the cordless.

When I married my wife, I got a “twofer” ; )

I’m not sure what they’d do to make it better. Maybe add 2” to the width. Otherwise it is light and incredibly powerful - and never have to worry whether it will start.

I have a 3 years old single stage Ego snow blower and it's still going strong.

I really like the Milwaukee brand too. I want to get their tree limber. My Ryobi limber is getting worn and leaking a lot now.

I think you’re right. Everything is going electric. I already got the Ryobi electric zero turn mower, the 100amp version. But the recently released EGO zero turn runs on the batteries they use for all their tool. They provide four 10ah batteries. If I waited and got that mower then my battery charging anxiety on the snowblower would be over.

I’ve worked at several larger equipment shops. One owner older guy sold building to retire. The other unexpectedly decided to retire out for several reasons one of which was couldn’t find anyone to work in shop. There’s a lot to run a shop especially having accounts with brands dictating on your inventory. As far as cordless mowers we had the Commercial Greenworks line and Toro. There’s other cordless mowers but the blades are not quite thick enough and flex.

Toro has released their 24" and 26" 60V two stage blowers. A different philosophy, basically an electric motor replaces the gas motor. Not sure how I feel about still having a friction disc drive and impeller belt but it is a design that is proven to last decades. They also now have a 60V Super Recycler mower.

I hope you can find one. Maybe their production supply lines are backed up. That’s a big driveway!

@@tamer1773 I'm not sure what the story is with the 2 stage Ego snowblowers. I ordered mine from Lowes that came with a battery. It was a chore getting it shipped but it arrived. Since then I've seen one instock about 30 miles from my house in Des Moines and it was sold. Now it just says "notify me when in stock". Amazon has them but they're selling them without the battery for the same price you would buy from Lowes with the battery. Ace hardware says that they have some (without the battery) in stock for about 900 bucks. I would expect everyplace to have them in stock by now. Normally when the Christmas decorations go on sale the snowblowers are sitting in stock.

@@andreo The Lowes near me had the two stage and the single stage with the steel augur on Friday. I picked up the single stage to help with my two stage gas Toro blower. You're right about Amazon. Their price is outrageous.

I think as battery powered tools tech keeps improving, we'll continue to see the functionality of the tools equal their gas powered competitors. I think the battery tools are more convenient and don't have a lot of maintenance issues that some people seem to have with small gas engines. I think the real question lies in how much extra money you have to pay to have enough battery/charging capacity to do the work you need to do. If your batteries only get half the job done and then you need to wait for an hour, that sucks. But if you have to buy a whole extra set of backup batteries to either do the work you need or to constantly be swapping them on chargers, that's less convenient. We bought a gas chainsaw because the few times a year we use it, we use it all day.

In that case, you may want to look at Toro's new 28" 60V 2 stage snow blowers that weights as much as an ICE snow blower while able to take three batteries for extended runtime and... with hand warmer... but still uses friction disk drive system and a belt driven auger system.... it's like a 2021 EV with a timing belt and a CVT transition box!

I always chuckle at posters who comment about their better products. If your Airens is sufficient for your particular needs...okay. Everything is not for everybody. For its intended purpose and use limitations, the EGO is a superb machine. Not your cup of tea? Okay...don't drink it.

@@zo4712 : Hey, if the battery powered blower works for you, use it! But the gas powered blowers can run all day and can probably move a lot more snow. The tech is improving each year, and for a battery power blower to meet the same standards as a gas blower, it will need more batteries.

Yes. This unit runs the 5amp battery too. I think it will run on the 10 amp they are planning too (not sure if it is out yet)

I can say the 5amp batteries worked, but, not for very long.

Yes they aren’t perfect for sure. Also I’m not necessarily the best snowblower operator either. So not sure if it was the machine or operator error.

It takes two batteries and comes bundled with two 7.5AH batteries (at least when I got mine it came with 7.5AH). However, it can run on any battery. It runs on one 5AH or a 7.5AH and a 5 or 10AH. But it really sucks down the juice so I don’t recommend using just one except maybe to test out what other battery to get. They should all recharge on your current system ok. However the bundled version comes with a dual charger which is convenient when/if you need to recharge and keep cleaning snow…

It’s still going strong! The batteries are still good, I leave them on the charger all the time. I haven’t used it since last winter, but I pulled out the other day, aired up the tires and tested it. It’s ready for this season.

gas engines have expenses too, which you totally glossed over. gas? have you seen how artificially inflated that is currently? want more capacity? buy more batteries. they last 10+ years if you take care of them (keep them mostly room temp). can carry them in a thermally insulated bag during work so they don't get cold/too hot. plus allows for easy carry when work is starting/ending. recharge time isn't a issue if you have enough capacity or nearly enough capacity (60-80% of daily need), as you can make a stop to put them on the charger. same as you might if you run out of gas and need to restock. expense wise, they are roughly equal in price (brand new, battery included) to ICE machines. cost over lifetime is much lower then ICE machines because you don't need to change oil/filter/anything really besides the battery once it's capacity drops a lot which again is easily 10+ years. i can easily see how someone could run a snow removal business with the current tech. you can always wait though, they will certainly keep getting better. might as well run your current machines into the ground and then you can slowly replace them with full wireless electric. this way the upfront cost isn't too bad and you can lean into it instead of slamming.

@@rocksfire4390 but the batteries are simply the fuel tank, if you will. Extremely expensive. You still have to pay electric prices to charge (fuel) them up. They lose capacity each time you charge them, regardless of how well taken care of they are. Not feasible over gas, yet. So not only are you paying for a glorified gas tank, you still have to pay to charge. The electric tools in other areas make a lot more sense…trimmers, blowers, etc.

Nice! I’ve been lucky so far and have not noticed any drift yet. But I’ve only used a few times…had one major storm so far this year and the ego did what I needed. Supposed to get a week of snow starting tomorrow!

That’s great! Too bad about the antique 1964 hauns eclipse. They don’t build things to last like that much anymore. However, I believe the Husqvarna will last.

On the stock non-rapid charger two 7.5Ah batteries take just about exactly 2 hours to fully charge. On two rapid chargers (like he has the 5Ah batteries on by the looks of it) those 7.5Ah batteries fully charge in about an hour (based on other videos where they have shown the same, and Ego's claims on their chargers). Not sure if charge time degrades at all with age, as all my sources are generally looking at brand new batteries.

You make a video of yours with the same depth and wetness of snow on eco mode, then comment on how well it works.

I have about 10-12 EGO batteries of various sizes... all (12 amp/hr are beasts) work beautifully, some just last longer. Number of charge cycles is the greatest wear on the batteries. Mixed data on using rapid chargers. If batteries are used only to run the blower, its a non-issue.

Just below “turbo” for most of the time.

Some youtubers say it chews just as much snow on eco and last twice as much. Makes sense, spending energy to throw the snow will shorten the battery.

A bunch of other vids of people using this Ego had their auger setting at eco and they were able to go a decent distance and blow a decent amount of snow. Go slow or eco on your drive speed and auger and you should do better. Thanks for videoing your snow blowing adventure.

Yes it is. It pushes through the snow very well, especially considering it isn’t too heavy.

@@reddragon3518 I think it depends on how big the area is that you need to clear. I would prefer the 10’s I think. I have an Ego mower and the batteries would serve in winter and summer.

Yeah. Not for everyone. I wouldn’t recommend using anything less than the two 7.5ah batteries. Preferably the 10ah. If you need more, then the gas option.

We usually get a big snow like that a couple times per season. Although it seems like it is rarer these days.

Yes. I just wanted to see how much I could do with it. I really only use it for the little front driveway and it handles that just fine. But to you your point, I could easily get that done with a single stage. The longer driveway stretches back over 300ft (over an acre long) which is what I was having trouble with. Normally I use a little tractor and plow attachment for that bigger area. Not really sure how much gas it would “all” take, I think over a tank.

@@CashJohnston a 300ft drive way 😳😅 that's lots.. my main drive way is sloped at only 70ft by 14th to 19th wide plus a 40X28ft parking pad.. if you have a video with the single stage please share i think it would suite my easy days of the main driveway days for a Canadain NW winter being 3000m above sea level, for now had to pick one and i got the Toro 37802.. on easy days 2 weeks b4 i top up the tank.. battling the elements 4 hour straight heavy packed snow and just just over half a tank

@@joebrown9621 I like the single stage. Just need to set the feet so as not to get caught on the cracks in the concrete. I’ll have to do a video on it vs the two stage next time we get a good snow.

@@davehenderson6896 Yes we do get a lot. This is where the 2002 Winter Olympics were. However, the past few years we haven’t had as much as usual. This year people are already skiing so maybe we’ll get more.

@@davehenderson6896 This was the first snow in 2021 that actually stuck and needed clearing. It was Late February. Normally we get snow in like this in November. But it’s rainy in the early part of winter the last several years rather than snowy.

Yeah. Should sell my Ryobi zero turn mower and get an Ego. Make more use of those batteries

@@CashJohnston way better idea. You get 4 big boys with that sucker. Then you can stick ur 7.5's in the 2 extra slots. Have additional chargers. Absolutely a good idea. The zero turns of any kind are always highly sought after, so you probably wont lose much if any on ur purchase. Im assuming you take very good care of your stuff. Looks like you have a really comfortable life. You are absolutely enjoying life. Congrats on that. I'll be waiting for that video of, how you sold ur zero turn for the ego, lol.

I’d need two 7.5 volt batteries just to the front including my neighbor’s. I’d need FOUR MORE to do my back area and the batteries are expensive.

Yeah he has way too larger an area for that. Stick with a 3stage gas. For the cost of batteries its bad. Get a used 3stage and be done.

I'll stick with gas,, much more dependable and much easier to put in gas if needed instead of wait for batteries to recharge
