I'm not getting the comment from the Project Manager from ECS at Salesforce - Doug, can you please explain what is he referring to and provide an example?

The question was related to how to include multiple product images in an email. As an ECS block will only return a single image, you would need to include multiple ECS blocks for that same asset class in your email. Doug clarified that if you do so, ECS is 'multi-block aware' and would de-duplicate the images from that asset class within the email, ensuring that unique product images are displayed in each ECS block in that email.

Is there a way to automate push of new assets to ECS?

There is no API or option to automate the import of ECS assets at this time.
