This is one of the most beautiful and romantic things I have seen, and probably will never see again, on the ice. They painted a picture of their love for each other - i almost feel as if I was eavesdropping at their bedroom door. Life is so cruel at times, isn’t it? I am just so grateful that there are many recordings available on KZfaq so their perfection and beauty have not been lost. I am still left feeling sad for the performances that were yet to come 😥😥😥

They are the best skating pair-yes, of all time. The way he looks at his beloved Katia about 59seconds into this video is priceless! Such love and devotion. Now as I watch-all their performances bring tears to my eyes. Their performance inspired by sculptor Auguste Rodin's "The Kiss" is mesmerizing. It felt like we were watching a most tender and loving moment between them. We celebrated their Gold Medals and we grieved for our loss-when in reality-I think we grieved for Katia's loss.

I watched them skate from their earliest years. Their beauty and love for one another, and of course their skating, was always exceptional. It still grieves me to know we’ll never see that magic on ice again.

I never get tired of watching them perform their magic on ice. It's so many years later but when I watch these videos I'm taken right back to that time. What a rotten trick fate played on them. 💗💗💗💗

I just came across this - thank you for posting. G & G were grace personified on the ice. You never heard a sound as they skimmed across the ice. Sergei always held Katia like she was a precious being that needed to be treasured. When he placed her back on the ice after a lift, it was seamless. Again there was no sound of the skates digging in, it was just the magical connection that propelled them further down the ice. Their hearts beat as one. They were always in perfect harmony. They were simply the best! It is bittersweet to see these performance again. Blessings to all

Just perfect artistic expression. There was an unhurried flow to their skating, all in order to achieve the complete musical expression. The choreography was always great, and the technicality never fell short. This is such poetry. Great piece of music beautifully expressed.

Yes, they remained unsurpassed. A real spiritual experience to watch them skate. Russians have forged figure skating into a classical art form, blending aspects of sculpture, ballet and symphonies..bravo! Да, они остались непревзойденными. Настоящий духовный опыт наблюдать за их катанием. Русские превратили фигурное катание в форму классического искусства, смешав аспекты скульптуры, балета и симфонии ... Браво!

So beautiful!! Love how they looked at each other, the smiles they gave each other and how tender he was with her!!! Such a gentle Gaint of a man. It hurts until this day to know that he died prematurely, way before his time. That is what saddens me so that they were separated by an oversight. But I am happy that he knew true love before he passed and that Katia had true loud. Sorry that Daria missed out on having the love of a father. 💕💕💕 Though I never meet Sergei or Katia I think of both of them fondly. Through their performances I know that true love really exists! May Katia have happiness in the remainder of her days, for I know Sergei did

These two were the best psir skaters I've ever seen. I'm glad she found happiness again, but Katia said herself she would never find happiness like she had with Sergei ever again. I'm sur he will always be in her heart. Daria looks so much like him.

A Moscow news channel did a joyous interview with Katia and David Pelletier her new husband since 2021. She said everyone has their share of heartaches - David has had his too - but life is a gift and I am very very fortunate and I know it Daria and her sister are now grown. It was a great interview!!

Да,это безусловно фантастическая программа.Сейчас можно говорить сексуальная...Но пробуждали красивые чувства, именно Любовь в широком смысле слова,хотелось и хочется работать над собой,стремиться к высоте,делать легко и достичь задуманное.Стремишься к гармонии человеческой души.Нет,они совершали подвиг .Вновь и вновь возвращаешься к тем дням,тому фигурному катанию.

It' s wonderful - grace, fluidity, elegance. Just perfect. But I wish there were no ugly patterns on the ice. They are not only useless, they are kind of ruining this piece of art. Why isn' t it possible to do things with sobriety?

There are a million beautiful comments to say about this but this is the only video where her hair was so long that her ponytail could swing around and swish Sergei’s face when they were back to back. Just an observation.

jamboabantu yes, it’s Porgy & Bess. It must be around Christmas 1994.....because the announcer said they had two Olympic gold medals (their 2nd was in ‘94) and were married and had a baby. So it had to be Christmas/holiday 1994.....because he was gone already by Christmas 1995😢

It is hard when the only person you loved so deeply is taken from you. She tried to carry on but it is never the same when you have had the perfect love. I still cry for her because I will never experience that kind of love

She has remarried to David Pelletier now. It is quite obvious from her instagram posts although they never made an official announcement. And Katia has confirmed that she now lives in Canada.

@@musicfan2511 Katia has moved on, finding new love and support in her life. Twenty five years have passed since she lost Sergei at only 24. Katie never forgets Sergei and continues to share loving memory of him with Daria, her family, friends and fans through Instagram postings. Recently she wished "Happy Birthday" to Sergei on her Instagram on Feb 3, maybe because Moscow is about 10 hours ahead of North America. She did the same last year. I find myself moved by her thoughtful, loving messages.

@@whitecat3923 I never question her love for DP. IMHO, to move on means accepting her loss. But it does not mean being forgetful of someone she loved deeply. Katia and Sergei were best friends, partners, soulmates, lovers, husband and wife, and proud parents of Daria. This extraordinary relationship, albeit tragically short, has shaped Katia's life experience and became an integral part of who she is. Two days ago, Katia told her Russian fans three qualities she finds important in men: 1) Respectful of women, 2) dedicated to his job, and 3) being a responsible father... It is not that hard to detect Sergei's influence here. DP must also have these qualities. Otherwise she would not have fallen in love with DP. Regardless of her two post-Sergei marriages, Katia's loving memory of Sergei remains unchanged. This fact does NOT and it should NOT negate her love and commitment to DP. Not a zero sum game.
