well done as usual! will we ever get more videos about the muslim conquest era? i think thats the point that must be hammered the most....that is the primordial building stone on wich the myth of ''bad christain agressors'' is builded on when speaking about crusade.Because most people are not too versed in history and they beleive those ''peacefull and tolerant muslims'' were always there and that were not making any trouble until we bad people attacked them in theyre own land.for that reason alone the muslim conquest deserve to be hammered and hammered until truth is forged in heads

Great video, as always. I was wondering if you could give some of your opinions of the Cathar Heresy/Crusade? I gathered that the Cathars not only threatened the basics of Christianity, but they also posed a massive risk to society as a whole. There were quite a few burnt at the stakes. A few thousands, I think? And did it end at the castle city of Carcassonne? Thanks as usual.

Does RODRIGUEZ last name originate from Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar??
@Infanzones
@Infanzones 6 жыл бұрын

Why is it that all of these crusaders/knights no matter what part of Europe they come from-France, Spain or England in the paintings in which they are depicted-look as if they all would have English accents if they spoke?

I mean "depicted-look as if they all would have English accents if they spoke" seems a little subjective thing to say, if you mean because of the art style I would wonder what makes you think that, if you mean by the clothing, well they all wear medieval armor/clothes typical of the era, not particular of england, and if you mean about the looks of the people, basically the nations you mentioned (france, spain and england) are all western european so they have traits in common. Greetings.

They look like that because you have grown watching to many Hollywood movies in which everybody speaks in English and with the plethora of British actors available it was not difficult to find one to play the knight part.
@iain5615
@iain5615 6 жыл бұрын
Many were still of visigoth blood, etc. before the later intermingling of Arabic blood as with Italy, etc. As such many were blond haired and fair skinned. As for accents perhaps your impression comes from Hollywood movies who relied on English actors a lot when productions were overseas.

He was committed to his social status improvement, his honor, and why not, in getting wealthy. He wasn't pursuing any anti-muslim prochristian cause. About Valencia, he was Christian, so the logical thing is to establish the ruler’s religion as the official religion. That’s it.

Many people say that it was the Muslims who gave Rodrigo Diaz De Vivar the title "Al-Sayyid" or El Cid as a grudging respect. But I think it was the Mozarabs or the Iberian Christians who gave him that title. Back then in Al-Andalus, Arabic is the first language of some Christians like the Mozarabs. Just my opinion, what do you think RCH?

@robertojrantonio3443
@robertojrantonio3443 8 жыл бұрын
"First Language" means the language the person speaks best, they may know other languages and these are called second language. The Mozarab (Christians under Muslim rule) may have been more familiar with the Arabic than the language of their Visigothic ancestors. Actually the Mozarab Language (derived from the Arabic musta'rib "those adopt Arab ways') is a Romance Language with many Arab loan words. Mozarab is also usually written in Arab script but sometimes also in Latin script. This obviously have contributed to the development of modern Spanish as some words in Spanish are of Arabic or Berber origin.

Chaoticawesome1 Basque isn't Celtic. They have OWN unrelated language (not like any OTHER European language). Currently in Spain it's Castellano the official language. Franco made that the rule. Arabic isn't any official language anywhere on the peninsula.
