Thank you for joining us on this crazy journey! Our family- Kate and Marius plus our four kids, have always enjoyed living a homemade life whenever possible. I just made this tonight! Delicious! I did 50% Costco bread flour and 50% freshly milled hard white wheat! I did soak the freshly milled for 30 min with 1 c of the milk, then mixed the remaining ingredients together then added dollops of the soaked wheat into the mixer bowl. I made a loaf pan of 8 dinner rolls and a small loaf of bread. Wonderful texture and flavor! I will let it rise a little longer next time, but it turned out great!

Thank you so much for sharing how you check the temperature of your bread. I've been baking bread for years and never seen anyone temp...it. yes also not to cut the hot bread....we always did as a child but there were ten in our family. So another great suggestion. Thank you again Kate for sharing.

I made farmhouse cheddar,all the steps turned out good. My first hard cheese, I have no50 lb weight and no 55 degree place to put the cheese to age. I thought I could do this. My cheese is drying I suppose damper due to only being pressed at maybe 25-30 lb overnight. I’m asking will my cheese turnout in the fridge vacuum sealed . Thank you

I know exactly where your friend got her recipe :) The way the loaves are shaped and the butter on the crust trick are a good tell :) It's Marie's Mum's Every Day Bread recipe, from A Cabin Full of Food by Marie Beausoleil, and if you don't own a copy yet, GET ONE. It is my favourite cookbook by far, made with thoroughly tested old school recipes of real food made from your pantry stores, as well as how to put up the food to fill the pantry :) A Canadian Classic, IMO :)

I love this recipe so much, I’ve made it twice since you posted it on the blog. I was thinking of making hamburger buns with it by rolling the dough out after the bulk rise and cutting out circles with the ring of a wide mouth mason jar lid. Not sure how it will turn out, but I thought I’d give it a go. Thanks again for another great video!

when making rolls can you freeze after letting them rise or do you have to bake first?? Thank you

Yes you can freeze them first because they are no sourdough!

Venison For Dinner actually found your pizza video so I gave that I try instead 😃 but I will try making cinnamon rolls instead with other half of the dough along with a loaf this weekend. Any tips for the cinnamon rolls? Any would be appreciated since I’ve felt brave enough to make them, but your videos have been giving me a confidence boost!

Wow.....for almost $1000 or more, it better be easy to wash. That bosch mixer is very expensive. Thanks for the recipe, crazy, but I have already been making bread this way for years. Using the butter milk, and the butter on the oven hot bread and not an egg wash. And yet no one has said that it seems crustless.

I've just looked recently and the Bosch Mixer runs about $600 Canadian. I love to hear from people who have been making bread for years the way I do it now. It's good to know!

Also, is the window pane test only for yeasted bread, or is that rule for sourdough too??? Always wondered that....

Yes but I usually go by long rise, very little kneading needed for sourdough so I dont ever check it.
