Throughout the OBX seasons I firmly believe that JJ (aside from John B, Rafe, Sarah, and Ward) has the most character development. All of it- from his traumatic family life, his raging outbursts, and even his euphoric accomplishments with the Pogues; it’s all why JJ’s character is dynamic. That’s why everybody loves him. He starts out as this troublemaker, this fugitive, this childish and scrawny boy. As the series progresses, we notice that JJ is starting to grow up. His heart called Kie’s name, but he refused it. He was afraid. Afraid that anyone could ever love him, because he couldn’t even find himself. Despite Kie falling in love first, I believe that JJ had room for Kie in his heart all along, he just chose to ignore it. OBX is by far the best tv show I’ve ever watched; the storyline is just so beautifully written. ❤ I’m beyond excited for season 4!

I love how jj is so protective over kie like some ppl think he asked about her and pope cause he was jealous, I think he asked her to make sure she was treated right and I love how is so protective (and yes I said that before and yes I liked my own comment and yes I think them 2 r the best obx characters + Rafe)

I can see the writers attempting to right the wrongs of Season 2 when experimenting with Pope and Kiara as a couple. As I like Kiara, I have to be honest. At times, she was annoying in Season 1 and 2. She appeared to not know what she wanted and tested the water with John B before taking the plunge with Pope. Having rewatched the series, it should've been her and JJ from the beginning. Their characters are unique, and the tension should've been allowed to build. An example of this is the dialog between Jim Hopper and Joyce Byers in Stranger Things. Since Season 1, the chemistry was organic, in addition to the hints of attraction between the two. The Duffer Bros gradually brought them closer as their endeavors made them inseparable. In OBX, that was a missed opportunity for JJ and Kiara. It feels like their characters weren't executed to their full potential. Nevertheless, the writers clearly know how to correct their mistakes, which makes OBX the engaging series that it is, and will hopefully continue to be as we wait to return to Poguelandia for Season 4.
