Karen, I'm thrilled to see you on KZfaq! I'm your old friend in Arkansas. I sent you the Beauty Berry photos several years ago. Our Elderberries are already ripening in early July. I have eaten handfuls of raw Elderberries with no ill effects, but I didn't really enjoy them, as ours are practically tasteless. In fact, they taste much like the Beauty Berries.

I can not forget you and how generous you are!!! I eat some raw too but many people do struggle with them raw.

You can grind up the flowers and use them as flour. flower flour. Or flour flower.

@10:13 please note those berries aren't quite ripe, and I think you referred to a flower recipe? They turn a deep purple, almost black when ripe for sambucus nigra/canadensis. De-stemming is the chore. Thanks for the tonic recipe, that looks interesting 😀

I did - an oops moment! I had flowers on the brain! When you see the recipe though it is correct! The tonic I take daily!

How can one tell the difference between elderflower buds and green berries? I wanted to infuse the flowers into gin, but there are many tiny whitish/pale green buds? or berries? on some of the clusters. I don't want to infuse them if they are green berries...

I'm not sure what you mean by the green berries. When you find the elderflowers the best way to get them without the flower stems is to let them sit for a day or so (spread out) on a plate. They will fall off!

I know this question may sound OLD FASHION! Why don't you use the American standards of weights and measures, e.g., when you describe the size of the flowerhead, you use the European standards of measurements - 15-30cm in width! It's become a major pet peeve with me and I don't understand why any Americans would set aside their heritage and use the foreign land's measuring systems! Otherwise, thank you for the good information! Do you sell the bark?

Thank you for your kind words and your opinions about the metric system. I am in Canada, and we are on the metric system. I know the US is not hence the reason on my website and as much as possible in my videos, I give both - sometimes I forget :( . No, I don't sell the bark.

@@EdibleWildFood-1 Thank you for clarification. I should have looked on your website for your "location"!! BTW, your English did NOT give you away as a Canadian, LOL! Thank you , again, for your remarks and response to my product question! :)
