According to the police's story, the only possible time he could have thrown the gun was _after_ he was shot. Because according to them, they _saw_ him pull it out of his waistband and thats why they shot him. So between being shot and hitting the ground, he'd have had to throw a gun 7 meters. Without anyone noticing. Also, if they found the gun _in a sock_ and the only possible time he could have thrown one was _after_ being shot and _after_ they described the gun they 'saw'...How did they 'see' the handle, trigger and barrel of a gun that was _in a sock?_

And yes, you are a racist, I am not here to debate it, if you call an innocent man being shot by police who arranged a huge cover up and literally cropped the photo of his DAUGHTER'S GRAVE to make him look bad, then you proceed to point out black crime ignoring all the socioeconomic factors, the you are objectively racist. I also love the "white guilt" bs, if a white person points out systemic racism they are "guilty of being white" if a black or brown person does it's cz "they are justifying their crimes" if an asian person does it's cz "they wanna dunk on white people",you can't win can you? nobody can win talking to racist a-hole who will go to any length of vile filthy hatred to justify their rotten beliefs.

I think people forget that someone doesn't have to be innocent to have the right to life. Mark Duggan was far from a saint, but that doesn't mean anything. He was unlawfully killed, and I think everyone knows that. people get too hung up in the idea that an 'innocent person' was killed, implying that it would be any better if they were guilty. I don't think we need to focus on proving Marks innocence, but more so trying to get rid of this idea that you have to be innocent to deserve to live.

As a lightskin young man who lives in London but happened to be raised in Cambridge one of the most prestigious places im used to be mistakenly accused of a part of the underground black grime drill culture. I used to be very posh in speech now my voice is Americanised thx to instagram Im often worried about being in a case of mistaken identity. And it is odd to be in London from Cambridge kinda young. I moved to London Croydon area 6 months before the riots l was just south of tooting but l remember this unknown suburb which l only went once at 4 years old and at 11 l witness it on fire being looted in broad daylight just destroyed by the looters glass AND ITEMS EVERYWHERE STREWN ACROSS THE STREET and later that night this furniture shop ABLAZE AN INFERNO and its a massive house in the middle of the biggest plaza in Croydon which stood out even without the fire so ablaze it was bad. It was awful as from tv l was far from the action but in my suburb it was eerily quiet like a vibrant Wimbledon area ghost towned apart from 2 teenagers near a Sainsbury's whom we called the police on

I remember these riots so clearly. I worked on a retail park at this time and the centre had a direct train link from London Liverpool Street. On one of the days when people were rioting, our shopping centre got a call to say they'd been tipped off that rioters/looters were on their way to the centre and we needed to clear out in case the police couldn't intercept them in time. So we were all sent home within minutes and escorted out by security and police. It was terrifying and I didn't know the full story of Mark Duggan back then, being about 16, but although I didn't agree with the rioting and looting, I can completely understand their anger and frustration. With people being left homeless and businesses being destroyed, it was devastating.

I lived in a nearby town in London, and it was a massive heatwave at the time of the riots! I worked in a kitchen and we weren't allowed to open the doors for 2 weeks because the company was worried about the riots starting in our town, and being looted as the nearby shops had been, as we were fairly close. I really remember sticking my head out the door during the 3 day riots and you could hear a pin drop. It was like a mini lockdown of the local area of everyone being concerned it was going to happen here too. I was absolutely appaulled by the situation and knowing people who were trying to get into the riots or start one in this neighbouring town. RIP Mark Duggan, I honestly hope that noone forgets this injustice for him and his family. Thank you for doing this story, there were very few things I didn't know about this story, but it filled in gaps that the media were spinning.

@Yorkshire Tea no amount of kids would ever make me think murdering another human being is acceptable, it’s very selfish of you to say “they’re a threat to MY life so it doesn’t matter if THEIR life ends” police don’t need to shoot up a person to make violence go away, they tried that and look what happened...yeah riots happened (even more violence due to anger from the mistake of a police force). It would be amazing if you provided proof as a rebuttal against hers, she’s in no way prejudice or selective about the cases she talks about so what would make you think she lied about the facts to fit a “narrative”? You as an adult need to think logically, this happened 9 years ago and now history has repeated itself. So please tell me how killing a human will solve anything because to me that only causes more violence, in 2020 George Floyd was unnecessarily killed did that solve anything? No, it only caused protests and riots. Take a seat before you act like you know everything

You’re no better than the image you make of him. If he was really a criminal you’re one too, for thinking that the only solution is to kill when there’s other ways this could’ve been handled. I suggest you grow tf since you’re more immature than a 17 year old. How would you like it if your kid got murdered for something they didn’t do? But the officer, and whole department that lie, and cover this shit up.. and deny their wrong doing, their the ones that deserve an eye for an eye.

my dad is a police officer, and about shooting in the arm or leg to disarm the victim/criminal/suspect whatever you may call It, is actually not what is trained. Shooting with a gun- this is a last resort when you feel in danger. When you shoot your gun, you shoot to kill because your family, colleagues, and anything important in your life is flashing before your eyes in this scenario. So tasing is the better option here.. my point here is that when officers shoot, they shoot to kill. That is what's trained. I asked this same question before

I think the reason why the witness testimonies were so different was because their brains were trying to fill in the gaps of the event. I remember learning it in psychology, when under stress people don't remember exact things, they only focus on the most shocking things rather than the smallest details. When questioned they try to link everything together so they fill in any gaps, even if they arent true to what happened.

Hi! I do forensic research in university specifically on eyewitness recollection, and what you’re saying is generally true. As humans we do have a hard time remembering events, and things become even harder to remember when “fear” is involved (ex. violence, guns, loud noise, etc.). We do have a tendency to fill in the gaps of our memory which eventually become “false memories” when we replay it so often that it becomes our truth. Hope this helps!

Georgia Marie did a video on her case and my family is trying to bring awareness to it. 💜 The video is called What Happened to Melissa Platt Midweek Mystery. I sent you a message on IG on it. My sister was severely beaten and left for days in unimaginable pain laying in her own urine and feces. She was covered head to toe in bruises of varying age, her jaw was broken in two places, and she had a brain bleed, also a strangulation mark on her neck. The person responsible was never charged with a single thing. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. If you're in a dangerous situation, please try your best to get out. 💜

Cases like this make me so angry. Black rights and black lives are not expendable. They are not up for debate. The black community has been fighting for their rights for longer than is necessary. All because of the colour of their skin. As Muhammad Ali said, the black community has been told for years that their kids and their kids will have it better. But it hasn’t gotten better. Black men, women and children are still being beaten and killed, their families are still mourning, and the protests are still happening. When is enough enough?

No one deserves to die, prison time, yes that is the whole reason a prison is made but no one deserves death. Just because he "sold" drugs does not give the police the okay pass to murder a him, in fact if people got killed just because of something they did wrong or because of something they did while they were young then no one would be alive! I'm sick of people like you wanting to spread your disgusting opinions on a comment yes we have rights but if you don't have something nice to say then don't say it at all. Surely, even if Mark did throw his gun away, his killing still wouldn’t be justified. How can a person, having literally just disarmed himself be an imminent threat to anyone?! You can’t use a gun that is no longer in your possession. I don’t think the rioting was at all acceptable, but the police are notoriously criminally corrupt and should not just be let off because of their position in society. K A I see your point of view, thanks for your reply! I think I’m referring more specifically to the point that Eleanor raised about the damage done to people’s livelihoods who weren’t police or rioters. I should have made that clear in my comment. I don’t know, I agree that peaceful protests aren’t always successful, but I don’t think it’s fair for ordinary people to deal with the collateral damage that these riots in particular caused. It is also important to remember that Mark’s family didn’t condone any violence or harm, they want/wanted answers and justice. I think we still need a lot of reform, but I think that that is most effectively achieved through discussion as opposed to rage...

The fact that they cropped a picture of him at his daughters grave sight while holding a very emotional message to make him look bad is evil. It's bad enough to crop a picture to make someone look bad but to choose such an emotional picture is disgusting...

Clara Halstead police brutality still exists without guns. racial profiling and aggression towards black people by the police happens a lot more than people want to admit in the uk. unfortunately some of our police still hold the same prejudice over here, they just use different tactics to carry it out

Eleanor there's a case I've been dying for someone to cover and I'd love for it to be you because of the high quality and amazing content you produce. Someone in my small town of Mooresburg, Tennessee killed someone. They guy who killed this old woman was Kyle Wolfe, I went to school with him my whole life and none of us know why he did it and none of us can put in an understandable way, I really hope you see this 💕

This makes me so mad. I hate how police think. My uncle lived in Las Vegas Nevada in 2013 and was shot 11 times and once in the head by his girlfriends neighbor. She said she "feared for her life " but my uncle went to her house to get his car keys that she took from him and said he tried to break in but there was no evidence that he broke in. The guy that shot my uncle is a ex marine so he knows where to shoot to injure or shoot to kill. And he is out on the street acting like nothing happened because he didn't get convicted because my uncle was a ex felon so they just let him go. Makes me wish someone would have done more to get that guy locked up. I hope this makes sense.

I moved to London when I was 19 the day before this happened. I went down for an accidental 24 hour jet-lagged “nap.” When I woke up, my roommates and I had breakfast where they informed me “not to be concerned about the riots being within a mile from us, they started while you were asleep.” It was a wild start to my time there.
