Greetings jeff(?) I’ve just saved a 1991 Bentley from being scrapped.... no fuel pressure, plus loads of other issues. It has twin fuel pumps, both “seized”. The list price is 500 dollars... each! No one here in England says they can be repaired. Once opened up, both gummed with old fuel from standing.... both now fixed! it may not be enough to save the car ( loads of other issues) but I’m a step closer! Thanks a lot...😎

I don't think I've ever met anyone with a skill set as diverse as yours. Design, fabrication, electronics, and most of all the common sense to make it all function as it should. Poor design these days is so frustrating. To have to use something that is poorly designed drives me crazy. I don't think I own a piece of equipment that isn't modified in some way. It's a pleasure to follow your projects and see great design. Thanks for sharing with us.

Got a big LOL out of your poor design thought. So true! I like where it sounds like you perform many mod's thru the years on purchased items knowing they are nice as is but.... When one will have an item in many years to come why not make it more user friendly!

Hi. I have been watching your channel for quite a while now.As the saying goes " genius is next to madness" you are definitely INGENIOUS without any madness. I find it very refreshing to find someone who takes care and pride at there trade. Aesthetically the craft you out turn is excellent and of the finest quality. (its such a shame the UK now produces crap on demand rather than quality by request)

I thank you John. It is sad at times nowadays it can be so difficult to find a quality part on certain things. Before installing any parts on customer vehicles there are times I will get one from another vendor in hopes it will be of better quality. Sounds like you are very familiar with that where you live too! Thanks for stopping by, Jeff.

I got to thank u so much. I bought an rv that has the same fuel pump, its pissin gas out of the seam and I couldn't figure out if it was a hose or the unit. Same exact fuel pump. I cant find any info online about it. Ur the one and only that I found on it and now I am going to repair it because I don't have much money and I got to try to fix it now that I know how. Thank u so so much for taking the time to make this video

Jeff you are a genius, I too have had a few of the handles break on that dorman fuel line tool, also the plastic wingnuts are junk too, they crack and spin on the metal stud. Top draw video as always!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Really neat Kevin to hear I'm not the only one who don't like that tool. Got a LOL on the wingnut tip. Didn't run into that one - yet! Them white quick disconnect connectors. Could never get the line on those without sanding the barbs a bit. (read that in a review too, same issue, seems the p/n was 800-116) That new tool pops them right on, absolutely no issue now!

That optional fuel line and pump for filling smaller gas cans is smart! I love that trick and may have to borrow that one.
@Big_John_C
@Big_John_C 7 жыл бұрын
wyattoneable I made one that screws onto the Schrader valve of the fuel rail, it may take a bit longer to fill a can due to the smaller opening, but it works fine and is easy to install, remove, and store some place in the vehicle.

roguesquatcher...thanks, that's a good idea too.
@2jeffs1
@2jeffs1 7 жыл бұрын
That is so convent. Once one has that setup you'll never be without it again. Actually that idea that roguesquatcher brought up would be the easiest to do if one didn't want to cut into the fuel lines. One just has to jumper the fp relay in the fuse box. I have used that technique to drain fuel tanks when they are rusty and needed replacement or the fuel sender needs replacement. Thank you roguesquatcher for bringing that up where that is another excellent alternative for the viewers.

I myself did the T thing in my old Dodge so I could have a fuel pressure gage on my dashboard. I used the truck only for plowing snow. I put another T under the hood with snap fitting to fuel up gas cans and lawnmowers and such. It's a good deal.good video. Thanks

What's up with the hawk? I just destroyed a fuel pump. wanted to see why a pump that was only a month old. Here the bottom turbine was jammed. This was a in tank fuel pump for a 89 s10 pickup. What would cause this to jam up and WHY does my truck hate fuel pumps? I purchased this truck and he had installed a new pump and hanger assembly. I never had so many issues with fuel pumps.

80s flashbacks there. I should have thought about eliminating that stupid fuel reservoir when we replaced it om my son's Bronco II. Expensive piece of poor design. I hear you on that Dorman fuel line repair kit. I remember the first time I run into those clips and had no idea how to remove them. I broke one and it was pricey to replace. Wasn't that thrilled with them.
@2jeffs1
@2jeffs1 7 жыл бұрын
Very interesting to hear you ran into that too! On that customers vehicle I kinda wanted to eliminate that thing too but where it was a newer customer and they don't know you well yet sometimes then I just put things back to the way they were. If I would of had the new tool then instead of using those union's I would of did the splice barbs. The flex of 2 ends at once and very little travel of that old tool, cant make it work on the bench, not gonna try on the truck! Enjoyed reading about your experience. Thanks for sharing!

We have an ongoing in-house discussion here about a battery blanket. One covers the battery and over night the battery will not only be better than new it also gets slightly larger. I think I shall try it on those caps tonight! :)
@oldpackfan
@oldpackfan 7 жыл бұрын
Jeff that little rubber cap you mentioned early in the video have been a dust cap on original production models of the pump. I don't think they would come wrapped or boxed to the assembly plant?
@2jeffs1
@2jeffs1 7 жыл бұрын
That might/sounds to be a possibility. I remember many years back when I first got into rebuilding automatics at times there was a white plug with a stem on it laying in the pan. I believe it was a plug, they must have punched it in on the assy line installing the dipstick tube. One time had one in that was a fairly fresh rebuild. Someone left a rag in the pan, pressure loss, causing the clutches to slip/fail. It's sad to see when people don't get their money's worth on repairs. Seen some weird stuff thru the years, never seen that one again!
