Electric Locomotive Engine Working || Electric Train Working || AC & DC Electric Train Engine
Electric locomotives consist of AC or DC Motor but at present time electric locomotives mostly used AC 3 phase squirrel cage induction motors because this motor is robust and rugged in construction and also speed and power can be controlled with an IGBT control switch.
Several topics covered in this video about electric locomotive can we get an electric shock when we are inside in electric locomotive, how electric locomotive complete its path, how three-phase induction motor run in electric locomotive while single-phase supply given to electric locomotive, power of traction motor.
topic covered in this video
0:00 Facts of electric train
1:09 why diesel locomotive uses traction motor to drive wheel
3:05 Interesting things about traction motor
4:30 IGBT control 3-phase squirrel cage induction motor
6:32 why spark does not occur between pantograph and contact wire
8:06 why passenger did not get electric shock in electric train
8:12 electric locomotive working
10:08 can we get an electric shock when touching electric train track
10:41 electric locomotive wheel slip
11:42 which train more powerful diesel or electric

wow, a very informative video. I liked all details and especially the way you have explained details. simple enough for everyone to understand. one point --> both the overhead wires have voltage and current in them. the only reason we have two lines is, a metal wire will sag under its own weight. so, using a thicker upper wire in curved mode, and with connecting wires of different length between the two wires, the second wire can be kept almost perfectly horizontal. . another is, copper wire is very conductive, but it lacks enough strength. now electricity has the habit of flowing more on the surface and upper layers of the metal than within the metal so using a copper wire with a steel core gives it the strength of steel as well as the good power conduction of the copper layer.

In dc series motor torque is directly proportional to square of armature current, due to high current high torque high speed of motor takes place.

Last fact is partially wrong...major sound comes from air compressor driven by an electric motor for numatic system. Diesel engine also produces one extra sound when it's air compressor which is directly connected to the engine runs...the sound goes like: 'Kol kol kol...' mostly noticeable in ALCO locomotives...
