12:12 Why is it funny that he added some warning stickers? It says "DANGER! High voltage!" for a reason. That reason being that if you're too close to the coil and it activates whilst you're not a minimum estimated safe distance of 3.5-4.5m, you're probably going to "unalive".
@Sup3rdud4
@Sup3rdud4 Жыл бұрын
The skin effect is actually caused by eddy currents due to the magnetic field inside the conductor, increasing the internal resistance. This causes attenuation of the current density (amount of flowing charges in an area). This makes the charges move best on the "skin" of the conductor. To eliminate some of the increased resistance you can use many wires wrapped around each other, otherwise known as a litz wire.

Don't know WHY I havent discovered your channel earlier - I was laughing along with you when styro pulled the silly antics with the plasma globes. That tesla coil beats mine. Mines a little tabletop model, but still manages to light up flourescent tubes a few feet away and you can touch the output streamers as the current is down in the microamp range, yet the voltage is very high - about 15cm streamers. I discovered Styropyro when I got into lasers. Lasers are lots of fun but watch your eyeballs! Sounds like your an Aussie - Sydney here :)

What he means by skin effect is that AC creates eddy currents in the cable itself which pushes electrons to the outside of the cable. The higher the frequency the stronger the effect, less wire is utilized thus the resistance gets higher. So at a certain point, the wire becomes useless.

If those long arcs from the secondary touch flesh, there would be surface burns but no electrocution due to the low currents and high frequency. Stay away from the primary and the circuitry around the spark gaps, that is super dangerous. The 60 cycle frequency component would probably stop the heart and there is enough current available to cook meat.

9:44 Speaking of free energy, my friend is convinced a battery can charge itself. He's got a car battery attached to a power converter with two outlets. One has a drop cord for his lights and stuff, the other is powering a charger that runs back to the battery. I tried to explain why that won't work, but eventually gave up thinking he'd learn soon enough... It's been running for 2 days, and that battery is still at 12.3v... smh

I managed to blow the old florecent tube with my tesla coil sitting on top. I guess too much current. Rough estimate is over 15A at 230V input and i mean i blow the fuse not the measured current coz any meter device just doesnt work arround the coil. Also when i put 20A fuse i can break c16 breaker so yea its pretty good. And mine is double resonance solid state variant that can play music. And the weirdest part it managed to corrupt chinise sd card data in one of the security cameras over 12M away.
