Heres the thing, plug and electrical standards were set around the turn of the last century in haste by a few industrial conglomerates. If the UK or Europe could somehow go back in time say 120 years, all would have chosen the compact A/B plug and the more versatile 120/240 volt split phase residential electric system.

WAGOs hold the wire so much better than wire nuts. Seen plenty of wire nuts let loose later for no obvious reason

Steel has higher melting point, iron oxide has lower melting point. the hot steel probably oxidises in air to form iron oxide and this melts. Given that the air is being ionised and probably is making ions desperate to find a new friend this isn't going to help.

Your audio sync seems a bit off. Please note that having the audio leading the video is more jarring than the other way around, so if you're going to be off in either direction it's better to have the audio lagging a little. That's because with the speed of sound being lower than the speed of light we're wired to expect it to some extent.

There being this many different plugs is a great example of there being not great solution? Or being different on purpose to avoid misuse.

This sounds like jealousy to me. Just about everything was invented by British men. Even your country was invented by the British. You are the poms. By the names of each prisoner sent to Australia, the letters P.O.M.E. was written. This stood for Prisoner Of Mother England. You are the poms, so now you look silly, don't you?

13:04 I've made that mistake before. I ended up melting the leads when I was checking a car battery's voltage with it plugged into Amps (not fused)

I don't think he's really shocking himself. Sure, he's making sparks but he's certainly not getting done by 120V / 240V AC as a lot of things he does would be fatal. The good thing about video editing software is that you can make things look crazy. And yeah, active terminals on the side of a power outlet is just asking for it.

Was at Spencer's as a teen and was enthralled by their plasma globes in the back. I touched it a few times but wanted to carefully brace my hand so I could get closer and closer to see how the electricity tugged towards my finger. Since they had the globe sitting on a metal shelf my now braced hand became grounded and it shocked the absolute shit out of me. A lesson learned that literally sparked my interest in electrical engineering.

The PEN fault contactor is designed to _completey_ disconnect the car from the mains supply because a PEN fault could present a situation where the earthed metal body of the car is live at 230V which is why they break the Earth. It's switched to emulate as if you were literally unplugging the car.

Generally any AC panelboard switching would have a ratcheting lever that would throw all at once to try to limit the arc involved in making contact between two conductive parts. That MCB looking breaker that needs to be pumped is something I have yet to run in to.

In case nobody else answered, in the US, most circuit interruption devices are designed to protect the wiring and overall building. We mostly leave protection of the smaller devices to the manufacturers, but we usually install separate interrupt devices for bigger items. For instance, it's code most everywhere in the US I think to have a fuse or breaker devices near AC units outside. It makes servicing them easier as well. Just pull the fuse right next to the unit you are working on.

11:50 No surprise there with the graphite rods ... that's how old (REALLY OLD) movie projectors used to generate light bright enough to project to a screen 30+ meters away and still be visible. My home town still had two of those projectors back in the early eighties and I got to help the projectionist on occasion with keeping the electrodes the correct distance apart so it had enough light without moving them too close and generating enough heat to melt the film. (There was a lens from welders glassed with score marks that showed where the tips were at any point and you just moved them a bit closer when it reached a certain distance apart.
