Almost every factory service manual flow chart ultimately says to try with a "known good component". This is how it is done, redneck style, lol!

I think we all must be a little bit redkneck :-D. A 21 watt bulb on loooong wires comes in handy, it also adds a load to any circuit you are monitoring, multimeters can see phantom voltages so can be deceptive. Testing for radio power. Lighting problems. Wiring a toe hitch to a car without schematics. Checking for power at a petrol pump, using a safety pin to penitrate the wires. Very handy the bulb :-D

Hi D-Ray, What kind of lift table do you have? My brother and I are getting too old to lie on the floor to work on our ATV's and we are interested to know what you are using. Enjoy your vids!

Great videos. ..what is the best way to seal the air box on a 2008 Polaris Razor 800...would you extend the air intake. .?

One xr600 had bad exciter coil. It had working lightcoil. So I put 220v to 12v transformer wrong way around so the lighting coil output would be high as the exciter. It worked and run fine for 10min or so. Then the transformer got fried.

cant say ive ever done that one but I will next time. I had a Yamaha bear tracker which is basically the same thing with that problem. fortunately it was a bad wire and not the coil.

iv got a 08 500 foreman es. when it's over 1/2 throttle in any gear but reverse it gets stuck in that gear. the gear indicator will flash that gear and can't shift at all unless turn key off down shift to neutral fire up and take off again. have you ever had that problem
@DRaysShop6 жыл бұрын
sounds like a weak shift motor.

I love your videos. I want to ask you I have a 2016 Honda pioneer 500 and I love it. But the rearend sounds like crap when the machine is coasting or when you let off the throttle. I've read a few sites about this and it seems to be a problem. What would you recommend doing?
@007.3l6 жыл бұрын
Haha that is pure genius
@DRaysShop6 жыл бұрын
Those machines have molded, straight tooth gears, they are not a matched ring and pinion set. You could try re shimming the gears, but it is most likely going to be noisy. Only other thing I could recommend would be go with a higher viscosity gear oil. "85w140"

hey dray, 85 big red, cool weather, have to shake it side to side to get it to start, very cold natured i guess. Does it need a different needle? I have to tie the choke button with string to keep it on choke......also the green light wont stay on unless i fiddle with the key...new switch i guess?
@DRaysShop6 жыл бұрын
The choke jet is probably plugged. also 85 was the first year for the 250 big red, and they were pretty notorious for hard starting. I drilled out a lot of choke jets on those to make em choke better. Your choke lever won't stay on choke because the detent spring and ball in the lever is either rusted or missing.
