In this video I have a basic 3+2 leveling kit. 17x8 steel wheels with 4.5” back space, with 35x12.5r17 treadwright tires. And just remember, you don’t start off good. You have to work your way up to it. I started on easy trails, and you just keep pushing yourself and the truck. You’ll be surprised where you can take it.

Curious ! I travel the needles often.... Did you go out to Devils Kitchen via "dupont alley" or "squeez play" (two names for the narrow passage before D.K. Camp area) ? Been through from beef basin to E. Hill with my Ram which is route around that spot. Have wondered if I'd fit thru OK with my big truck. (Ram 2500). Do it in my Jeep alot and have measured it, but actually squeezing through is the real test. Thanks. Nice work on the hill BTW. No slips or chirps. Amazing how many people struggle on that acsent.

How did the do on the squeeze? You said it got your door handles, but did it not get your mirrors? I have a 2024 2500 I’m tempted to take on. I’ve done this trail 7-8 times in a jeep wrangler and gladiator but not the full size.
@chrisbogan74182 ай бұрын
It was extremely close. But I didn't hit the mirrors. The 2500 sits a little taller, that might tip you over a little more. But I think if you stack some rocks you'll be good.

Are Ram 1500s well suited for off roading with the independent front suspension? I’ve always been under the impression that solid axels are the be all end all for off roading. Would love to hear some input from anyone who knows what they’re talking about.

I like it. and they are a lot stronger then use to be. I have to do a lot more modifications to get it to flex more. My friend has an FJ cruiser and it’s IFS is amazing. I seen him jump it and beat the hell out of some big rocks. IFS is really good unless you want to make a budget rock buggy.

Used to go down there a lot in the 80's ! I actually had a dumb ass run into me descending the back side at the steepest part ! I was driving a 77 wagoneer, he was in a Dodge Ramcharger. Looks a little easier with all the concrete filling in !

@@chrisbogan7418 I'm a newbie, so don't have the lingo down yet :( My RAM has r20 inch stock rims, but wanting to get 35" tires on it. Should I go down to a 17:" rim?
@chrisbogan74183 жыл бұрын
It’s all good. I enjoy helping. You can do a 35 on your stock rims. You’ll need to get 1.5 inch wheel spacers. For clearance. That my original set up. As seen in this video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/kLahldSCpt2cp4E.html 17 inch rims is something you might want if you find yourself off roading a lot. Having the extra side wall will let you air down more making the ride better and gives you more traction.

Benjamin Limones I did a 3"+2" levelling kit, and that lets me run a 35x12.5r17. I still had to remove the rear inner wheel well when I was off road. I also have the stock 20" wheel, I do have a set of 35x12.5r20 tire on them and I had to put a 1.5" wheel spacer on.

Also, I'm having trouble finding the 17x8 Pro Comp 98's with the 5x5.5 bolt pattern that these are supposed to have. 4 Wheel Parts has 17x9's with that bolt pattern but not 17x8's.
