About Jeffrey Yu: Yale '23 (Computer Science and East Asian Studies)
Jeff is a senior at Yale double majoring in Computer Science and East Asian Studies with a concentration on China. His college admissions essay was featured in the New York Times, and he specializes in essay writing, college admissions strategy, and life coaching. He has served as a Student Ambassador to the Yale Admissions Office, written extensively about college admissions on Quora and has taught courses on motivation, passion, and leadership while sponsored by the US Embassy in Tokyo.

- be consistent: say that you will do eim things in college - make characters count - numbers matter - WRITE everything that you were in that organization - write accomplishments - write out acronyms - order them in how many hours you've put into them - use very strong verbs and use the smallest amount of verbs you can - can use humor, add color - don't exaggerate

Why the hell does this have 17 views? Oh my god, You just helped me think of my passion project. I'm a gap year student from Nepal, Asia. And, Yale is my dream ( not exaggerating ). Hey I'm not really sure about my extracurriculars . Just wanted to get your opinion on it , it'd be great if that'll possible . 1 Reported for an upcoming news channel via youtube 2 Wrote a novella 3 Published articles in my school magzine , newsletter , local newspaper and a local magzine . 4 Published a research paper on the QUAD 5 Worked as a content writer for six months in TedX Talks 6 Founder and President of the Literature club in my school 7 Tutored students for around 5 years . 8 Participated in an anthology that was published 9 IMUN at school level 10 Participated at various workshops , submitted a short story in one of them . Yo, I work at Stanford as a tech ops for sports broadcast, my daughter is a freshman in high school, she shadows me now and now will be hired as a tech ops when the acc comes in, is that a good start

If there is not enough space to type in all the leadership positions you’ve had in an activity, would you recommend to just input them all separately?

I'd just put the top leadership positions you were a part of! If you still have extras you want to mention, you can talk about them in your Additional Information

What if a college allows me to upload a resume on Common App? If I have more than ten activities I want to share, should I leave the Activities section blank and just create a resume?

I don't want to sound repetitive and waste admission officers' time by doing both. Even if I note at the top of a resume that it's just a continuation of my Activities Section, I don't have that many extra activities lol, so I'm worried that my resume will look too blank. I think my concern might be kinda silly, but I'm genuinely confused. As always, thx for the vid!

Never leave the activities section blank! Some colleges don't look at the resume (even if Common App allows you to upload it!)

I just started using the common app today and I left a few things blank because I need to ask my guidance counselor about a few things before I finish. But I’m afraid to exit out of the app and that it won’t save my work will it delete and j have to start over?

Hey Kevin, I have been watching your videos since the start of my junior year and now I am in my senior year. I just wanted an opinion. (others who read this comment, please rate my stats and let me know where I stand.) I have a gpa of 3.5 out of 4. My SAT score is 1370 (770 in Math and 600 in English) I will be giving my IELTS exam in August. I have worked as a Developer Intern, a fundraising intern(raised > ₹33,500) and a cybersecurity intern. I am also the President of our school's Student Council. I am also the founder of our school's first computer club and have organized competitions for students of grade 3rd to 12th. I have also hosted our school's annual sports day and edited our school's annual magazine. Also have collected food, stationary supplies for orphanages from all the students currently studying in our school. I am still working on my essays. Please give your honest opinions about these and let me know if you got any tips for me. I wish every applicant good luck and I look forward to applying for colleges this year with y'all. I have also worked on a working voice assistant, which I ironically names Jarvis. Unfortunately, due to the lockdown, I lost my code with my laptop. Should I still include it in my applications? This happened back when I was in my freshman year(9th grade).

@@viplavnagpal8008you have a strong stats and ecs but most imp make sure your essays show your personality and growth. Another tip - apply to your dream school in Early decision.
