long video today, but thats because we have a lot to talk about. A Disney cast member story video today, my journey, what cast member roles I had and of course Disney vip tours fun! This what is was like to work for Disney In a way, I could get more detailed on each role, however I don't want to go into to much detail simply because It's my former employer and I would never talk bad nor give away any Disney secrets. Obviously I did quit my Disney job awhile ago, here is sort of a look at a day in the life of a cast member. I close look at what it is like to work for Disney AND my experiences.

It's because he was a really shitty employee. I worked right beside him and watched him break literally every single rule. Not any one at work actually enjoyed working with him. I'm actually surprised he wasn't outright fired.

I worked at Disney during high school and college. I started two months after opening. My first job was as a Monorail Operator for 3.5 years. I was the youngest in the Monorail position, at 17. I was selected, along with five others, as opening trainers and leads at Space Mountain. We arrived in September 1974, four months before the official opening on January 15, 1975. It was still a construction site. We wrote an SOP, qualified ourselves, and then Tomorrowland management. We had to train about 180 cast members before opening. I stayed there for one year. A friend who had been an hourly Monorail Operator was now a Tomorrowland Supervisor. She suggested I might want to go to work for her brother, who was the Manager of Cash Control. I was a teller and Vault Teller. I left in April 1979 to begin a 37-year career at American Airlines. Now, forty-six years later, on December 24, 2023, I received a Christmas card from my friends at Disney.

Amazing video! You took me back in memories to my 3 CPS’ back in 2015-16 2017 and 2018-19. You made me want to go back to work for Disney again hahaha! I always think about the fact of “backstage ruining the magic” and at least for me, experiencing backstage it was actually a privilege to know where actually all the magic begins, and that is priceless and absolutely magical.

After 3 years I left Disneyland then later came back. Both times i was a ride operator. After about 6 years I started working for Disney Corp. Then went back to Disneyland as a R.S.T. I transferred to WDW as a R.S.T and later became a C.R.S.T. after 29 years of service I retired. I think Disney is a wonderful place to work. I loved it and the people I worked with. Thank you for sharing your feeling about WDW.

Thank you so much for sharing your journey in Disney . You showed it in a positive light , but you are telling us some of the reality of the position. I have a cousin who worked for Disney from the mid 70s to 2008. She started as a Monorail operator and finished in Casting. I think she met her husband there. He worked as a chef in Biengarten. They did not choose to leave, they were laid off in 2008 during the economic slowdown at the time. I am happy you were and still are pursuing a career that you have a passion for. Nothing worse than to be in a job that you hate and dread everyday. I know, I have been there. Again, thank you for sharing. Thank you for the glimpse into working at Disney. I would think just having Disney in your resume will be a benefit in whatever job you apply for. Thank you for the tip on not tipping the cast members and handing them a " thank you card " instead. They add so much to the enjoyment of my visit to the parks and Disney resorts.
@eliaswedway658
@eliaswedway658 3 жыл бұрын
The possible plus/advantage of having Disney on your resume varies greatly due to various factors. The role you held, the time in that role and the geographic location of where the position you are applying to, all matter. In central FL, those that can list Disney employment on their resume is a dime a dozen. There are literally thousands upon thousands of residents in central FL that can do so. Therefore it is not that impressive unless you held a very high upper level position. Disney employment listed on a resume for someone applying for a position outside FL, generally holds much greater weight One advantage of having Disney employment on your resume for a local hourly or entry level positions is: if a stable and established employment record is evident, it is a definite positive because it is well known that when you work for Disney-----You work ! I have been a full time WDW cast member for almost 10 years. I have worked in both parks and resorts in various depts. I can honestly say it is the most unique employment experience you can have. It has it's definite pros and cons. Even the difference from working at parks vs resort is huge. The difference between seeing Disney through the eyes of a guest vs an employee is also huge. But it's an experience that I would not trade for the world and I'm so grateful to have. When my grandchildren, who will tell you that I work for Mickey, lol, give me messages to rely to their favorite characters---because they KNOW I work with them!!!!! It makes everything in balance.

I have been taking my daughter to Disney since she been 6 months old she is 18 now and every time we seen a College student I would stop and ask them how there experience has been through the college program. Not one in all the years has said they didn’t like it. Every time I stop to talk my daughter would get so embarrassed but I just wanted her to hear how wonderful the program is. My daughter has been a tour guide and a head tour guide in high school and now in college. I know if she wants to do the college program if it comes back she would love to be a tour guide thanks for sharing your experience with us. I hope the program comes back and you get a second chance.

Best company I have worked at. I was a fellowship program student, and I felt in love with the company. Believe that has been the company that set standards for me.

I remember when your dad came to Disney World and you drove home after your first CP to go back to college. You and your dad looked like you had so much fun together.

When I was in high school, I worked for Disney. I also worked in the Haunted Mansion for my first position. It was/is my favorite. Also it was always nice and cool. Blackout dates for CPs, I always went into the park after my shift.
