When the movie ends and Elio watches the fire while he is bending down and clutching his body so he doesn't feel lonely, when he starts to cry, I can feel like I break and it is soooo sad

reading the book and seeing Elio talk about why they call each other by their names, he explains that its bc "he's more myself than I am" or that they've grown to become each other, and that the world would simply not make sense if something were to happen to the other one. when he talks over and over again about Oliver saying point blank "you'll kill me if you stop" in his dream, and hoping he'd say it the days that they slept together, but never did, Elio decides to say it himself, in hopes that Oliver would repeat him, a game they used to have. Oliver never did, so Elio was alone, which made Elio realize that either one of them could've said it and it wouldn't have made a difference. they became each other in 6 simple weeks. he used to say in last few days in Rome, that his "favorite Oliver" was the one that thought like him, because normally Oliver was the kind of person to intimidate everyone, and when he stooped to elios level, to become 17 one last time, he showed that there truly wasn't any difference between the two of them. they were the same when they met, and they were even more so when they separated. it had everything and nothing to do with intelligence, his father would say, but rather the goodness of themselves. Elio had never heard his father speak that way of goodness before. but Elio, too, was good, so neither him or Oliver could have been in the slightest, wrong or misunderstood. Elio speaks of his days in Rome, eating with Olivers colleagues for a book reading, when they all spoke of the two of them as if they'd never be the same again, so happy, without a touch of sorrow or malice. that soon would go away, they'd say, and the two of them knew it just as much, but couldn't bare to admit it. just as they couldn't bare to count down the days until Oliver would leave, but it became much easier to count them up, afterward, "how many years has it been?" Oliver would say in his workplace when Elio finally came to visit him for the first time. "15, I counted them on my way here. actually, that's not true. I've always known."

Elio, brave 17 yr old to express your feelings, your joy, love, lust and intent. My your heartache at losing Oliver turn into a life filled with the knowledge that love exists. Many of us a scared of this.

This is literally the best movie I have ever watched. It always gets to me and the ending always leaves me with tears in my eyes. Its an absolute masterpiece.

I find some something different each time that I love when I watch it over and over again. Nothings ever hit me like this beautiful story as it unfolds on camera.
