It would be interesting to compare one of the cheap knives in an endurance test with one of the original victorinox knives.

Ironic, that something called "Elite First-aid" has no First-aid items in it.

That wire saw is worth less than the knife. It's nothing more than a filler. Saw w/swivels, and rings. A couple of sticks for handles and wa la. Best wire saw. Really enjoy your videos. 👁❤🏕❇🔥🥓

More years ago then I like to think about. There was a company putting survival kits in plastic Nalgene bottles. There where like three or four different ones. I never bought any because I build my own, living in Wyoming like I do. You need more water storage and better shelter. But it was and still is an interesting idea. After watching you "struggle" too get things out of the bottle, imagine trying to do that if your cold and wet or maybe you dinged your hand. At least the Nalgene bottles that where used had a much bigger mouth. As others have said, ditch the wire saw, and get one with rings for handles. Easier to pack and you can make a bow saw with it. And there are some good wire saws out there.

Some extra things could go on Outside without adding much weight or bulk. Wrap waterproof tape around bottle. Enclose it in a tight kitbag with hanging cord. Put several ranger bands around bottle above tape. Aluminum foil around whole rig before placing in kitbag.

The zip lock bag is to stuff the items in incase you use the bottle for water!

Don't know why the makers of those kits don't use wide mouth bottles....

Nice video! Interesting- when you mentioned the area where you live I immediately realized why our philosophies are a bit different (I'm in Montana where it gets cold even on summer nights). Of all the super cheap kits you've featured this one is one of the best. Yeah, some of the stuff is crappy but the entire kit is $20 that's understandable. As far as tweaks go I would lose the wire saw. The handles are huge and I suspect they'll break off with very little use. I don't think a wire saw is all that useful but if you want one I'd go with the small ones with rings for handles. Those are easier to convert into a bow saw (about the only way they're useful). I really think you should add some tinder. Those compressed towels almost certainly rayon; it will burn in a fire but I doubt it will ignite with a spark. On the other hand you could ditch the coffee filter and use one of the towels to prefilter water. Great addition of the SAK! Of course it costs almost double what the kit cost. ;-) The cord is handy as well. My guess is that if you ditched the crappy saw you might be able squeeze a space blanket in there. It would likely be a tight squeeze, that's a pretty small bottle! Good stuff, looking forward to what you review next.

I couldn't agree more. Not sure why they put these toggles on the wire saw in the first place when rings give you so many more options and are less cumbersome to get in and out of that bottle. Apart from the Victorinox saw being the best saw in this kit anyway ;-)

As you said...NOT the bottom of the barrel but will work nevertheless. Way to go in getting all of that back into the bottle. For the price...I'd buy it. Oh, maybe put some Pez in the bottle...yum.

while this kit does have SOME components that would be beneficial, it still has 2 great shortcomings that all of these premade plastic water bottle kits have. first, the bottle is plastic, so it is inherently breakable, and second, with the contents inside the bottle, where do you put water? you don't want to set out expecting to "find" drinkable water, that you then have to try and purify it with what ever tablets they provide. then where do you put the stuff when you finally have water? While we are at it, how many people buying this kind of kit actually know how to build a snare, and place it where it might actually provide protein? I stand by my earlier statements, and say that you would be better served getting a stainless bottle, with a nesting cup, and carry it in a water bottle bag, preferably one with pals webbing, and put a couple molly bags on it to hold a kit. so you can start out with a quart of water. I have a 10 "C" minimalist hiking kit on my channel that improves the quality. I admit it does increase the cost, but it makes it something you could actually effect survival with. these kits al seem to me to be companies playing on people's panic mode and giving a false sense of security

I don't disagree with most of what you said but there is a ziplock bag inside that's intended to hold all the contents while you use the bottle. I don't mind plastic bottles at all, it just depends on the situation. In the summer months with a clear plastic bottle you can use the SODIS method to disinfect water via UV from sunlight. There are also a couple of chemical water treatments, and they're pretty tiny to you could easily add more. Also if you're careful you can boil in a plastic bottle although admittedly it's not ideal. As you say, snares are probably not in the cards for most people. Those with the skill to use snares probably won't buy a semi-junky little kit like this. Still wire is immensely useful for lots of things.

Well that looks pretty good actually I liked it a lot so maybe I'll do one of these videos the water bottle survival kit I already did a mother pill bottle pill survival kids who might as well do this one this giving me a lot of good ideas because water bottles occupy a lot of space and you can put a lot of stuff in them so that way you can stay longer in survival situations very good video thank you so much sir

Nice clear review. I’m not a fan of mini kits, too often they sacrifice function for miniaturisation. A kit with no shelter is only half a kit, and the inclusion of snare wire and fishing gear in a little kit designed for very short term use is fantasy. There are essentially two survival strategies: stay put or keep moving. If you have the means to signal for help and expect to be found fairly fast where you are, a quick effective shelter, water and first aid may be all you need. If not, it may be necessary to move to where you have phone reception or where people can find you, in which case you need shelter you can walk in and the means to deal with injuries to feet, like blisters, and damage to footwear which would slow you down. Anyone going out into remote places or doing risky activities should carry a kit suitable for that environment and a PLB. Carrying a few pounds of proper gear takes around a tenth of the energy needed to make a good natural shelter and saves the 3 hours or so of daylight it takes to build it.

Great video, as usual! I would ditch the wire saw (you have the saw on the Swiss Army Knife anyway...which is awesome!) Doing that would provide a lot of room for more gear. Other than that, a decent kit, especially after your additions. Thanks, and keep the video’s coming!!

I'd take that fake Swiss army knife over those "survival tool" metal plates any day. IMO putting a $40 Victorinox knife in such a rudimentary kit is like putting a turbocharger on a Hyundai Accent.
