Test of the new Elixir Optiweb and comparison with the Polyweb.
Personal conclusion:
Optiweb: Bright and crisp sound, feeling and stability of the sound.
Polyweb: Warm and thick, durability.

I've been using Elixir Polyweb and Nanowebs for years. I like their longevity and that slicker feel. Can't stand it when strings grab my skin. I think I can hear a tone difference here. The Poly's sound is more full and round than the Optiwebs, which is what Elixir claims. I think if you have a trebly tone/guitar, the Polys might "tone" down that brightness. Some folks may go for that, others may not. My Kiesel is very bright with its maple neck and Lithium pickups so I like to get some fullness to it. I'll probably give these Optiwebs a try some time. Good comparison BTW.

Can't tell much of a difference, but I percieve a little more punch with the Polywebs (I'm forcing myself to hear a difference though). Also, durability is a strong factor for me since right now I can't afford to change strings very often.

Hi Peter, thanks for your comment - I still have the Optiweb on the same guitar, the tone is still awesome - I recommend them :)

Loïc Bronner thank you for your replying! Are the Optiweb the ones with the thinner layer of coating, or are they between the Polyweb and Nanoweb? :)

Elixir Strings thanks for replying! I finally decided for the Nanowebs and I'm loving them so much! Been using them for two weeks now and they still feel like brand new, at least for me. Amazing product 👌

Yes peter I've been using nanoweb for years now and they are good, how ever this demo makes me want to test the POLYweb ahah Unfortunately I only see them for acoustic guitar, not sure I ever saw the electric version

Any strings will be perfect however prefer a light string gauge

I mostly use flats and the polyweb is the only roundwound string I use. regular rounds are too rough and noisy

why you shake the guitar like it has some change in the sound? if it sound different, its because your fingers moving, not for the guitar, some guitars are able to be shaken, some has a tremolo system but this its not the case you should the some advance guitar classes
