I'm in my 6months of changing too! I worked a job I do not like, I gain so much weight and I had health issues. So I quit my job and focus on myself. I go for a run 2 days per week, yoga class and dancing class. I eat better, sleep better, and lose a lot of weight. I’m starting to build my dream career too! Hope at the end of the year, everything will fall into place.

6 months later, and I can say this challenge really challenged my way of thinking and the way I will approach my goals from now on. I no longer approach goals from the external angle and started working from within, testing different systems and routines until they work seamlessly. I haven’t changed much in my physical form, but I learned SO MUCH about myself, who I am and what I can be and I’m excited for the challenges that 2024 will bring to me.

My takeaways: 1) Don’t let fear keep you in the same place. Use it to fuel you and keep going! 2) Level up your values and actions first. You need to change your systems to make things work for you. 3) Be so good that they can’t ignore you. Welcome discomfort and be extraordinary. 4) Tolerant with others, strict with self. Share grace with others, but don’t make excuses for yourself. 5) How can you benefit the moment? Learn to not be so reactive but instead to be kind to others. 6) Do the internal work and show up for yourself every day. Take it one day at a time. You got this.

You don’t have to do “extra” to be extraordinarily… This mentality can put you into “do more” “hustle culture” “work hard, play hard”. It’s always a go time… and people never Rest, think, and relax. But if you know your goal.. and understand your daily task.. and stop trying to do 20 different things.. and try to do one thing … over long periods of time, you can be the master of the domain People who is a master at xx typically do that thing day after day, without getting bored or distracted. If you practiced 2 hour piano from age 10~ 20… you will be good at piano. Instead of try to do “extra” to become extraordinary… Try do small repeatable habit.. casually over long periods of time .. to be become extraordinarily Read atomic habits. If you have to be “extra” ( overloading, overclocking) to be extraordinarily….. if stop try to be “extra” and just want to do “normal” effort.. so will the result will go away. Don’t build a system where overloading is a requirement of the system. Build a plan where 50% effort produce extraordinary outcome.

* Don't let fear keep you in the same place: "push past the fears" "you have to keep going" (what if I don't fulfill my goals? - refuse to let fear keep me in the same place) * make systems that work for you (vs. pressing the try harder button), ask yourself: how can I make this work for me? * be so good they can't ignore you (what does it mean to be "so good"): to become so good you must welcome discomfort to do extra/more to be extraordinary --> take action first (planning is procrastinating here unlike with systems) * tolerant with others, strict with self attitude * ask: how can I benefit this moment? (how to make situations better for yourself and others around you) --> think before feel through practicing non-reacting, ask if this feeling is serving someone

Hi there! Thank you so much for reminding me, hehe. It’s April 27th, and I'm a bit late with my update-sorry about that. So, how did my first month of trying to improve myself went? I had sooooooo many plans. I mapped out how my days should be spent and listed the things I should learn to build a beneficial skill set that I think I need to equip myself for the future. I set my alarm to establish a consistent sleep schedule, imagined going for walks or exercising regularly, committed to eating healthy foods, and vowed to never stress eat again. Well, guess what? I failed. I struggled to follow through on my plans and stay consistent. Some days, breaking my usual habits felt very hard, and I ended up ruining my routine. I often found myself sitting on my phone all day-not because I couldn’t stop watching or didn’t notice the time passing, but because I was scared to face the reality. I avoided my schoolwork and other tasks. I feel overwhelmed with my negative thoughts and my traumas that I thought was long gone cus I buried it and avoided it to the best of my ability. Well, they came back and it was very hard for me to deal with them. I felt so aloooone, so losttttttt and so sadddd. I became easily triggered and irritated. In short, I got worse, and I hate to admit it. Despite all this chaos, I discovered journaling and it was a lifesaver. Writing down my thoughts and emotions has allowed me to process and reflect on them. It helped me calm down and appreciate the small efforts I made to keep trying, despite the inconsistencies. Through journaling, I’ve learned more about myself-my triggers, the things that still hurt me, and my emotional responses. I've become more self-aware, noticing how I feel, what I think, the people around me, and the impact of my actions on them and the impact of their actions towards me. While this first month didn’t go as planned, I’m grateful for the learnings and the realizations. It has shown me the importance of self-compassion and patience as I navigate this journey of self-improvement. Atleast, I am now aware that this journey will never be a smooth-sailing one yet I know I’ll be fine. I am looking forward to bigger waves and storms. I might cry and probably feel lost at some point but I know I can navigate myself through it. So, that’s my update. Thanks for checking in and keeping me accountable! See you on June 25th! Love y’all.

@herlifesinceaprilof2024 heyy I'm so happy to see this comment and your update. It reminds me of myself because I did the same thing and I immediately gave up after struggling to keep up. I have a tip that could help the both of us. Maybe we shouldn't set sooo many plans for ourselves with a full on schedule so soon. Knowing ourselves and what we will most likely struggle with will make it harder. Why don't we set some goals and work ourselves up to slowly get used to doing more and being more consistent. It includes self discipline. It can be overwhelming right from the start if we set too much right away. We should progress to our goal and live the journey of the ups and downs instead of expecting to be right on right away. :)

I applaud you for your hard work, I personally do not believe in being hard on myself anymore. I need to be as compassionate with myself as with anyone else, while holding myself accounatble, and adharing to my own standards. At least this is what seems to help me better myself in the long run, I found as a 37 year old woman.

I realised the same thing here. Once I turned 30 I understood I do not grow in the areas I wish if I'm not compassionate about myself enough. Compassionate, not self-pitiful. And I have noticed that I wasn't the only one who didn't benefit from this, friends too. Also, being hard on myself developed a habit of negative thinking. Now we're on the way to undoing the work 😅 with self-compassion and reframing thinking.

It's not everyday you see a content creator who show up so vulnerable and share their growth process. Very beautiful & inspiring to see your journey. Thank you so much for sharing I know it will help many. Especially the way you put working on systems a priority instead of working harder. That is a concept not many even know about so they spin their wheels and don't achieve, & become frustrated and give up. Which in turn creates a whole other set of issues. Thank you very well put!!! ❤

Do you ever ask yourself why you need to be "so good they can't ignore you"? Why you need to lose weight? Why you need to wake up at 6am? Why you have to be this "best version of yourself"? You are a human being, not a machine that needs to be made more efficient. I wonder if with this mindset you will ever be content with the way you are. And as long as you are so focused on yourself, will you ever make true connections with people? I used to get sucked into these self-improvement narratives and they were really dangerous for me. Working hard to achieve something you are passionate about is one thing but treating yourself as an eternal project that always needs improvement can be very harmful. I just want to say that the way you are right now, you are already perfect, and worthy of love.

Why do I break my own promises? I suffer from food addiction. I've been addicted to sugar my whole life and have never been able to give it up. After reading that prompt, I've changed my life. I have to share this, I've seen more 'help yourself' video's than hair folicals I used to have 🥴 and this one, 'your's' is the most value per word explanitory I've ever witnessed. Not only do I admire your sharing of this but how you put it into totally absorbable chunks too. Thank you & may you continue to flourish. 👌

I really enjoy listening to your experience. I have been going outside of my comfort zone and CREATING my life for what I want. I appreciate the fact that we can learn new things and chose pathways that we desire. It is hard to understand or grasp the feeling of what is waiting for us down the path that we have chosen. It is SO worth it!!

Beautiful video. I'm 3 months in and on shakey ground... but you have just inspired me to keep on going. I especially love what you said about how we never get what we ask for as we expect it, but instead are given opportunities to grow into it... for example; I've dealt with a lot of self doubt... but instead of it just going away when i tried to get rid of it... i got into situations that caused me to doubt myself even more... honestly that has made me sooo much stronger though... learning to opperate in the chaos is hard... but so worth it... appreciate you🙂

I just wanted to say that you are super gorgeous! I also relate to your assiduous attitude, I didn't know there was a word for it and I didn't really see it as a positive before your video. I always thought of it as why can't I be nicer to myself because everyone tells you to be nicer to yourself, but I'm coming to terms with the fact that sometimes my anxiety that I put on myself motivates me ❤‍🔥

That first one hit home. Fear has held me back from so much but because of where it came from I haven’t been able to feel like I can distance myself until now. And now I am standing up for myself even through the pain. My fear was real but when my time comes I’ll remember and be grateful for what I did and not the pain I suffered from the actions of the person who instilled fear in my life.
