Man. I have watched like 50 videos and still understood nothing.

I'd love more modern and applicable recomendations for Romantics because almost everytime someone gives examples with photos they are really dated and old fashioned. I'm having a really hard time choosing more formal clothes for work without looking like I'm from a 1950's movie.

Would love a video on how to “dress down” for dramatics! All the examples are usually very editorial or formal, but street style would be so helpful (especially for dresses, since that’s what I personally wear)!

I did a deep dive into finding my Kibbe body type (SN) over the pandemic. It was very difficult at first to analyze myself, without comparisons to figure out if I had small vs big hands, angularity and even “perceived” body height. When I was younger, I remember putting on an outfit for school and changing several times till it felt “right”. (My sister still teases to this day for changing outfits so much.) It is pretty much as described, feeling like you are wearing someone else’s clothing or wearing a costume. Learning the Kibbe system helped to reinforce what I instinctually already knew. Trying on different silhouettes for different body types also helped to physically see what did or didn’t work on me. I now use it to avoid buying clothes that do not accentuate/accommodate my body lines. Your videos on Kibbe and Essences are helping to refine my eye further. I do custom costuming for people and it helps me advise them on selecting silhouettes that will look the best on their figures. I practice by trying to classify my friends. This video really helped clear up any doubts I had about most of them! Thank you for all your videos!❤

I appreciate what you're saying around 3:25 about some things not changing in our bodies, but they absolutely do and that's one of the things I think causes a healthy skepticism with Kibbe. Something as simple as posture dramatically changes your shoulder, torso, and hip proportions, as well as our bones absolutely tend to change quite a lot with age and lifestyle. A friend of mine's mom was nearly 5'7" in her early twenties (approaching that automatic vertical point), and, due to lifting heavy weights for years, compressed her spine so she's now under 5'4" mid-forties. Torso shrinking is very common in general since our limbs lose little to no length with age. Pregnancy can cause your actual hips to be physically wider (or narrower!) due to the ligaments holding the bones together to relax and "stiffen" back up in different positions, and it often makes the ribcage physically wider as well due to the baby needing more room (particularly for folks with shorter torsos); some people lose an inch of height due to their feet flattening out. Years of working hunched at a computer desk will absolutely change your shoulder width and height, and then things like yoga and general stretching could eventually pull them back into place. Osteoporosis can cause your leg bones to bend (bowlegs) and/or your shoulders to round/slope. At which point should we find a Kibbe ID? When our body is "least changed?" When our body "settles?" Do these very real and obviously visual changes somehow not affect our ID which is, at the end of the day, based on visual impressions? I like Kibbe, but I don't think it's a bad thing to consider ID's may not be immutable, and people may have different accommodations in different seasons of life.

I’d love to hear about cuts that suit each type, like neackline, sleeve style and length, waist length and whether it needs to be fitted or if blousing is better, skirt shape and length etc

Discovering that I’m SN made me realize why I hated school uniform so much. School uniform is actually everything I have to avoid ( a LOT of harsh, geometric lines, tight hairstyles, no waist definition as we had to wear mid rise pants and skirts). Everything is also symmetrical ! So every time I could, I tried to relax my look. Let my hair down, unbutton my shirt, take of blazer. It’s kinda hard to look good in professional clothing as a SN. Luckily, I can make buisness casual work for me at my job )

I would love more videos on the Soft Natural type... Especially on how to look more polished. A lot of times with SN I feel like we get sort of skimmed over, or only shown casual or "boho" ways of dressing.

Love your content! I spent about six months figuring out my Kibbe Type (SN) and am now starting to really apply it to sorting my wardrobe and purchasing new pieces (after an 8 month no buy!) That idea of things feeling "off" just resonated so much with me and really got me interested in Kibbe. My sister is a pure dramatic and even though we're the same size every time I borrowed her clothes it'd feel so wrong and off, which inspired me to understand body typing better! I also showed my husband Kibbe Typing and he was super excited to find his type and start applying the lines and advice (he's a DC) Your videos have just been so useful to me!

Ever since I found out I'm a soft natural styling outfits I feel good in has been so much easier! I still wear some things that go against my lines sometimes, but I think it works because one of my style roots is moon and I like to dress to dress a little edgy. Now I'm just more purposeful in the ways I contradict my lines. I would love an in depth video on Soft Naturals since I haven't seen one on this channel yet.

I’ve been trying to learn more about kibbe body types since I found your channel a few months ago and it has really helped me shop/put outfits together in the way that you described, but I still find some things a bit confusing. I would love a full length video on theatrical romantics! Especially on trouser silhouettes, are there any alternatives to harem pants? It would also be great, if you do decide to dedicate a video to each body type, to discuss how to combine all the different style roots with that body type!

I’m SD and I truly feel like there’s pretty much nothing normal I can wear. Sexy hourglass shaped dresses don’t work for a non-celebrity lifestyle. I’ve basically had to ignore Kibbe’s direction because it’s just not practical.

Now I understand why I hated collars on me so much in school and felt so off wearing them (and still do) as a Flamboyant Natural. And why dresses that look great on the hanger (usually curvy/sexy or structured) also didn't vibe with my body, creating a lot of disappointment in the dressing room 😅. Now I look for flowy, effortless and unstructured pieces with a wider neck line and I feel so beautiful in them! But would have never thought to look in that direction originally because I didn't want to be seen as "shapeless". Thank you so much for your helpful tips and videos!

What really helped me to find my type was hearing others of that body type describe their struggles with clothing or what doesn't work for them and why. I'm mostly moderate in height and proportions, so I thought I was maybe some kind of C until I saw an online SN discussion about things like turtlenecks and zipping up dresses. I struggle with both and that's what helped me to realize that I've got some upper body width to accommodate.

I find the system so helpful and your explanations are brill. Funnily enough though, my bones structure has actually changed from having a baby! Hips and ribs wider than they were, some find their shoulders too

Here's some ACTUAL advice for Soft dramatics that doesn't suck: Nobody runs around in big chunky heels and cocktail dresses all day and nobody actually looks like Sofia Vergara 🙄We need more realistic approaches with real life examples! Girls, try high turtlenecks that hug your body with long flowy pants that can be tied at the waist. It's important to focus on dramatic first and romantic second as a SD. We sometimes fall into the trap of dressing like a TR but that can look a bit lost on our larger bodies. Dressing sexually will look very sexual. If you want to tone it down without looking frumpy you can wear casual looks with a long, tailored jacket to at least keep some length in your look. (If it has a belt even better!) Dressing casually as a SD is so difficult and the recommendations are sooo old fashioned. I've learned that flared pants look lovely but these modern high waisted wide pants make us look boxy and heavy. I feel like flowy and soft fabrics are key. Instead of forcing yourself into highly romantic terrain, try taking some inspo from flamboyant and soft naturals, Off shoulder will look awsome, wide neckline will look awesome, but so does high neckline. Round neck t-shirts are awkward and so are super low waisted jeans. I know high waisted jeans are trendy but they can really draw attention to that stubborn frontal belly fat and love handles that we have on our stunning curvy bodies. If your color seasons allows it, create mono-colored looks with a high neckline or wide neckline that hugs your body and add pants that are tight around the hips, yet loose on the bottom, ideally a soft/flowy fabric. From there you can add bigger accessories but if you don't like them try layering! Keep that vertical! You don't HAVE to accentuate your waist. You can actually wear shirts that end slightly above the hip because they move with your lower curve. Try switching to a side part to create more volume! Loose blouses can look great if tucked into the front of your pants! I hope that helps. I'm really sick of that half-assed sofia vergara advice. Dressing as a SD in everyday life is so so hard. Being tall and large and curve can make you feel so frumpy and out of place next to all of these delicate people. But once you embrace that curvilicious body of yours you will be surprised!

I always enjoy your videos, Ellie-Jean and I've learned a lot from you this past year! I think I am a SN, but I have a hard time determining if my shoulders are "square" or "broad." What makes me lean in this direction (and away from SG) is my height 5'4" and also some of my favorite clothes over the years have followed the recommendations for SN. E.g. I need soft waist definition and loose fabrics work best for me (IMO). I would love if you could do more plus size examples of any of the body types..I know celebrities are usually verified by Kibbe so they are the easiest to use - totally get it! But it would be a nice way to expand your content. Keep up the great work! 💚

Firstly, LOVED your explanation for how the Kibbe theory personally helped you. I feel exactly the same way, it was such a relief to learn to appreciate me as myself and not feel the need to change. I will say- I am curious about the Kibbe system after pregnancy though because I am positive it actually does change your bone structure slightly. The pelvis opens and my rib cage also opened more. Am I crazy? I’m pretty sure this is true, right? Maybe it doesn’t change it enough to count as changing into a different type! Love your channel! ❤️

After a lot of back and forth, I think I am a soft classic. Even when I have been quite underweight I still have had that layer of softness to my face and body, so that is the soft part of soft classic😅 I also sort of feel like a shapeshifter, because the slightest change in detail in clothing/makeup/hair make me look like a different person😅 I find that I don’t need a lot of effort to make my look be more edgy/casual/elegant, but that also means that I quite easily can look over the top or like I am wearing a costume, which doesn’t leave me a lot of room to play. I also find it hard to find classic clothes on a budget, because the lines might be slightly off, or the pants might be slightly to short/long/wrong texture. I also struggle to match my body type to my face, since despite of having roundness and softness to my lower cheeks and eyes, I also have an elongated face and a slightly longer nose and not to much volume in the center of my face, which make me look a bit more yang and a bit off compared to my body. I just feel like it’s hard to make everything look balanced all the time, and would love to hear more about how to make facial feautures (essences) work with the different body types.

I self-define as a Soft Natural with a side of Soft Dramatic only because I appear a bit taller than my 5’7” and love Flared / Boot Cut jean with wedge sandals. I feel totally weird in glam hair & makeup - love natural make-up & hair. Other than the jeans ~ definitely look better in soft natural clothing lines.

Would love a comparison of soft classic lines and romantic lines focusing on silhouette/cuts/lines and not details since I feel like aside from the details (minimal SC vs ornate R) there's overlap in SC/R lines in that they both call for soft fabrics, roundness, and waist emphasis. It's hard for me to tell if I'm an SC with dominant romantic essence or R with dominant classic essence since it's hard to separate the lines of the image IDs from the details that could be influenced by essences

It's certainly a journey for Romantics to look elegant without having to use traditionally feminine details. I love florals but I want to use them without looking like a garden. 😂

I know I need waste definition, and I know that I am petite even if I look kind of average height. I am still a bit unsure if I am a Soft Dramatic or a Soft Classic, and I find it a bit hard to see what are the thoughts about how to dress put on me by others, personal preferences and what are actually my lines. They both resonate with me in different ways, and I think it boils down to Soft Dramatic being how I feel like i should dress and Soft Classic being more how I want to present myself. I don’t even know if that makes sense or if there are much similarity between those two types.

Hi, I would love it if you could do a video for people who are around the height of 5 feet 6 /7 inches who could fall into dramatic classic, soft dramatic, or dramatic, as I find it very hard to distinguish between these three. Hello! I love your videos. If you see this, do you have any recommendations for accommodating for scoliosis. I think I’m supposed to have a romantic body type but the scoliosis makes it so I only have a true double curve on one side. If you don’t have recommendations then that’s okay! Can you do a Vid on Summer outfits for Flamboyant Natural?

Just getting into Kibbe body types after having two kids and being the heaviest I’ve ever been, I simply can’t “get away” with wearing clothing that doesn’t fit my lines the way I could when I was much thinner. I have lots of curve and round lines so the romantic type resonated with me first, but after listening to this video the soft classic seems to reflect outfits that have consistently flattered me over the years so maybe I have some yang somewhere that I haven’t fully noticed yet. Related, this explains why having 100% bluntly cut stick straight hair has never looked right on me. Even if I’m not wearing my natural curls, I need a curvy line in my hair somewhere. It’s because the yang hairstyle does not match up with my more yin features. Mind blown!

If you have a short torso what body type are you most likely to be?

I am quite interested in this theory (and have watched a lot of your videos), but I am still totally unconvinced what my body type is. Strangely I have worked out what clothes I like in my style and I know really well what will work: I like oversized things with minimal sharp details, I like structured things but nothing too rigid (it has to be soft structure). I absolutely hate fitted things with waste emphasis, most of really bold romantic patterns look terrible on me as well as romantic details like ruffles etc. Used to love A-line skirts when it was practical for me to wear skirts. Safe to say I am not a romantic. Could be flamboyant gamine? Dramatic classic..? May be I will never know:)
