Elon Musk Is The Richest Person In History With A Net Worth Nearing $300 Billion | Forbes

2 жыл бұрынThanks to a blowout earnings report and a big car order by Hertz, Tesla’s market cap surpassed $1 trillion on Monday-and CEO Elon Musk has emerged as the richest person in the history of the world.
Forbes estimates Musk’s net worth to be $271.3 billion as of the market’s close on Monday-up some $41.7 billion from Friday’s close. For that, he can thank a nearly 13% jump in Tesla stock plus more than 16 million new stock options, worth $16.1 billion, awarded following Tesla’s latest earnings report.
Musk is in uncharted territory, headed toward $300 billion. For comparison, Amazon’s founder and former CEO Jeff Bezos became the richest person to ever appear on The Forbes 400 ranking of America’s richest people earlier this month, topping the list with an estimated $201 billion fortune. His net worth climbed as high as $212 billion when Amazon’s stock peaked in July-a full $59.3 billion less than Musk is worth now. Microsoft mogul Bill Gates briefly surpassed $100 billion in April 1999, during the dot-com bubble’s apex. Adjusted for inflation, that’s just over $165 billion today. When Forbes first began tracking billionaire wealth, in 1982, the richest person in America was shipping magnate Daniel Ludwig, worth $2 billion, or about $5.5 billion in today’s dollars.
Musk’s 23% stake in Tesla (discounted for loan obligations) constitutes the bulk of his fortune, but he also holds a minority stake in the privately held rocket company he founded in 2002, SpaceX. The business was most recently valued by investors at $74 billion, following a February funding round.

Elon is my hero. He almost went broke was in a depression but he endured. He didn’t commit suicide, he stayed in the damn fight. Lots of people in this world will never know what is like to have lot of money fall and then rebuild it and come out better. I know. Its lonely but it also so next level. Makes u really feel good about having the opportunity to be alive. Take what ever comes.

@Mark Fort no man is perfect. I have done great thing for people but I also have done dark things as well. This is the world. And I bought into the fact that he is pushing us forward from being a wasteful society to little bit less watesful NASA did great things but they are extremely wasteful and costly. I have lived in many nations and lot more people will have access to transportation and internet because of Elon. Maybe u don’t see the world as the only place we have and all the people on it are the only people we know to exist. So we need to advance and take care of our home and each other.

He and his willing crew will be the oily boydz gettin' the woym! lawlz So, what he's doing is fund-raising what we need to get the resources we need to make that so and not be at the mercy of some Space Agency and whatnot. This is a matter of independence from all of those dependencies so that we may become independent in Mars and beyond. Perhaps even interdependent of each other but not dependent of any one given centralised entity in this entire multi-planetary enterprise. And then if the earths corrupt governments decide to nuke themselves, there is still half a chance at resilience for the human race. Elon is a strategic thinker, but also a strategic doer, and his tactics are working very much in favour of these strategic goals he has set. And yet, I would say the vast majority of people and governments are preoccupied with matters which depict their nearsightedness.

None. He takes out loans to pay for everything he does. He cant sell his shares in spaces because it is private, and can't sell tesla because its stock would crater. This makes him a class 2 billionaire.

Well it's not liquid BUT he can get very low interest loans using his shares as collateral and because of his insane assets he has access to any amount of money he wants except it's not taxed so it's even better than the shares being liquid!

It is still in beta and growing all the time and will be a massive income stream for him in the future. That is all I was eluding to, that, it the future it will be successful. @@1flash3571 you know how expensive it is to run and maintain the starlink network? 40k satellites 250k each= 10billion dollars for just the network to maintain itself have to be launched every 4 years because of low earth orbit. To get that into orbit space x needs to 670ish launches every 4 years. Lets say elon has a break even point of 40million per launch thats 670x40m=26.800.000 dollars for a total of 36.000.000 dollars every 4 years. Besides that elon also sells each satelite dish at a 1500 dollar loss. So you can see it doesnt really look that good.

Those satellites will stay up in orbit for 5 years so you spread out the cost over that period. It isn't one time use. Elon said it will stay up for 5 years, not 4. Also, why do you think they are building starship? That will also lower cost. Also, the dish cost will come down. They already have lower cost dish they are building already. With more customers, the price will come down. It is called mass of scale.

Let's not forget most of his "net worth" is based on Tesla stock appreciation due to investors bidding up the stock price -it is definitely not "money in the pocket". His percentage ownership really only went up slightly due to stock options that are part of his compensation package. If he tries to sell shares it comes with the real possibility of him losing control of Tesla and tanking the stock -which no one wants. The stupid politicians need to look elsewhere for money to fund their bills and stop this focus on net worth.

I love Elon for what he is doing in terms of technological advancement, etc. However just for som context, Elon Musk did NOT get to that level of uber wealth through his hard work but by the tax payers. Both in terms of subsidies in the early years and through the insane money printing the corrupt FED have injected not into the economy, but thet stock market. As of yet 7 trillion dollars have been given to Wall Street from were the money ended up in the stock market making Elon and other billionairs filthy rich. The unfortunate result of this reckless behavior by the parasites of FED is that the bill will end up in tax payers hands. So the american population made Elon rich not himself. Just imagine what 7 trillions invested in the real economy would do for the nation. Instead it ended up in the hands of those who neither deserve it or need it. Socialism for the rich and capitalism for the rest

I had a client here in Texas years ago that had an estimated “net worth” of about $775 million if I remember right. Development of fully reusable rockets are necessary to make life multiplanetary and ensure humanity survives if something bad happens on earth, which usually does based on fossil records. Batteries are necessary to stop the dangerous climate experiment called fossil fuel burning. SpaceX is Plan B if Tesla Plan A fails. All for humanity. Starting a rocket company and an electric car company in early 2000s are the best way to lose all your money, and Elon came very close to losing it all.
