This was an emotional tribute piece of music he wrote following the death of a young man called Guy who died tragically in a car crash. It is a wonderful piece of music that brings a tear to the eyes.

Elton actually wrote the song on a Sunday after dreaming about his own death. The young man,Guy Burchett was a 17 year old messenger for EJ's record label and he was killed in a motorcycle accident the next day. Guy's mom said she cries when she hears this song. Can't blame her there,

I had the tickets in my hands.... and he had to cancel the original concert because of some heart issues... I wasn't able to go to the rescheduled show in Pontevedra and I missed one of Elton's best shows (I love Pontevedra's setlist) :( Anyway, thank you KZfaq!

Guy, in this song, was a delivery boy for Rocket Records. The way the story goes, Elton wrote this song on a Sunday while feeling rather morbid. The next day they received word of Guy's death. This story was written on the back of the 45 rpm single that this song was on. 1978.
