my grandma actually met Elvis after a concert. She was a teen and apparently after an Elvis concert she saw Elvis in a car, she and her friend walked up to him, she put her hand up to the window and then he put his hand up too. It's funny because she still brags about it to her friends.

This is really got my attention. He did a movie in my hometown many years ago called "Follow that Dream." I've seen a lot of movies and documentaries on Elvis and this one looks to be really epic one.

I’m taking my 83yr grandma to see this. She’s the only reason why Elvis is known in our family. My grandpa would always sing Elvis songs to her all the time. Grandma also told my mom the reason she wasn’t married to Elvis is cause dad won a fight against Elvis. Lol

Many comments here are aimed at the dissimilarity between Elvis and Austin, but that's one of the problems of casting someone to portray an instantly recognizable icon. No one is going to look like Elvis. No one is going to look like Freddie. No one is going to look like Lennon. The best we can hope for is to draw an actor from the pool that can do the subject honor without crossing the line into caricature. The fact that this young man endured weeks of vocal coaching and preparation is enough for me to give him a shot.

I’ve been using the example of Lennon as well as in Aaron Taylor Johnson as him in the film ‘Nowhere Boy’ him and Thomas Brody Sangster don’t look much like John Lennon and Paul McCartney in that film however it worked They weren’t doing impressions instead they were sincere in their portrayal and they were more representations of who Lennon and McCartney were at that time

Funnily enough, there was a pseudo-Elvis movie a few years ago that DID hire someone who looked almost exactly like Elvis. It was called "The Identical" and it was a what-if movie that asked, "what if Elvis's stillborn brother had been secretly given up for adoption and became an Elvis impersonator?" The actor was an Elvis impersonator in real life. They hired him for his look and his voice, and that was a BIG mistake because he was a TERRIBLE actor whenever he wasn't singing. It's more important that the actor embodies the spirit of Elvis more than his looks.

remains to be seen how close Bromell holds to the "fact pattern" (no shortage of polarizing material there) and how Baz Lurhman's vision plays out. trailer is well done, but trailers are designed with one intent - to deliver an emotional jolt. let's see the entire film before we deliver up oscars et al
