His voice still has that southern blue sound. This man was told at an earlier concert that his black backup singers couldn't be on stage and he said fine but I'm leaving too. This man stayed with his poor roots and stuck up for injustices ♥️

That’s a true story. Whitney Houston’s mother told her the same story. Her mother was a backup singer of his and he told the venue if they (the black singers) don’t get the same accommodations he gets than he to will leave with them.

@@HarryRacer18 That wasn’t Cissy Houston, that was Myrna Smith, the other Sweet inspiration. Whitney Houston’s mom, Cissy, only worked with Elvis for less than 6 weeks before she quit because her kids needed her at home. It sucked career wise because she loved working with Elvis & only had good things to say about him and vice versa!

I am a black female who was born in 1965, my Grandmother who is from Louisiana and most of my older family share the same love for him. I've heard nothing but good things about Elvis as a child. I was 12 when Elvis died and I remember where I was when I heard the new on the radio. I felt like I lost a family member. When I used to go to Louisiana in the summer time as a young kid my Grandmother would play Elvis's songs. She really loved all kinds of music and I got my love for music from her. I've only heard negative things about Elvis from people/celebrities who never met Elvis. People need to shut up and stop spreading horrible rumors and lies about people they don't know.

At 12 years old I was at the concert you alluded to in VA when his back up singers walked off the stage. It was my first concert ever. He never meant his comment to be taken the wrong way I am sure. That night he also saw a woman catch one of his scarves and another woman take it from her. He saw it happen and he called the woman to the stage. He gave that woman a diamond ring off his finger. So instead of a scarf, that lady took home a diamond ring off the King's finger. Lucky lady!!!

Elvis grew up very poor in Tupelo Mississippi. He had a twin brother who was stillborn. He was born before Elvis. As a young child, Elvis would sneak out to go hear the music being sang and played in the black churches he could get to. His love for music and all people began there. Elvis was humble and spent most of his time with the janitors and such after his shows instead of going out with the band. He had the best of the best musicians. Jerry Scheff, his bassist, played for many artists including the Doors. It's his base playing on LA Woman by the Doors. His lead guitar player was once a good friend of my father. So, Elvis' talent was naturally given and inspired by the black community he was raised around.

Elvis did the two shows a night bit in Las Vegas, but I don't think these engagements lasted for months --just weeks. But that alone would have been super taxing. They had one child together Lisa Marie. He really took care of everyone in his group of friends. There was Liberty Land Amusement Park in Memphis back in the day. Of course, he couldn't go out in public because of the fans. He would pay whatever the price was for Liberty Land to be closed down for a night ever so often so he could take his beloved little girl there. He wanted to just be with her, family, and friends. Just a normal daddy showing his little one a night out. Also , same thing for movie theater Rent the whole thing to watch movies, pay for all the tickets, closed to public. He couldn't go anywhere outside of Graceland without being mobbed. I respect that he just wanted moments and memories of a "normal" life.

:D I remember when Elvis was appearing on television. In the 1950's and 60's there were still censors paying close attention to what live t.v. programs were broadcasting. Elvis always found it difficult to "stand still" while singing and the censors solved that by declaring that the cameramen only film him from the waist up. Isn't that a hoot?
