ELVIS PRESLEY INTERVIEW HOUSTON, FEB 1970

ELVIS WORLD

Күн бұрын

The Houston Astrodome was chosen by Colonel Parker to be the first venue for Elvis to perform outside Las Vegas. This was done for several reasons, but none of them was because the place was suitable for a show of the kind Elvis held. 'The Dome' was an enormous hall, built in 1965, the least of its functions being for concerts. Parker was possibly unsure of Elvis' status in the wider world - performing in Las Vegas was something quite different from performing in venues which could seat far larger audiences. The rodeo show at 'The Dome' always attracted thousands of people no matter what. After the concluding show Elvis held a press conference for about 100 journalists at Astroworld.
He declared that he got a big thrill out of the appearance in 'The Dome'.
Elvis checked out of Astroworld wearing a blue Easy Rider-inspired suede jacket and black trousers, taking with him 20 suitcases and 3 guitars - $1.2 million richer than 3 days earlier.

I love how he treated the media and was sincere and simple in the answers. He did not think to much, or look bored, simply he just answers the truth like in a normal conversation. also loved how he treated the fans, who went to his house to see him. He had no obligation to meet anyone, especially if they are at the door of your privacy, but he would go to the fans and attend to them. He definitely knew what he meant to people and was grateful to them

He may have been kind but he was used. Elvis Presley was a sa* anist puppet. Rock &roll even gets his name from its idea - to rock and roll living stones (us) away from Christ's temple. Why do you think the most iconic rock band was called Rolling Stones. What goes with rock? Drinking, drugs, unrestrained sex, violence, 'do as you wilt'. Presley started generations of sat&anism and helped mess up probably billions of people. So he got a similarly ignominous end to the likes of king Herod.

@@dimipartcaster7770 bruh there are plenty of people that still make music and have a huge passion. You’re just old and it shows. There’s always been a lot of bs on the radio, that’s nothing new. I am not old Sherlock, it was unlucky guess. But I am a musician so I know very well what I'm talking about. Also I don't want to repeat myself. I said what I had to say and it's pointless to explain to someone who can't understand. And yeah, they are plenty of artists, with quality, ethos, talent and passion. The difference is that noone of them builted a big career. Nobody knows them. Instead, we are full of Biebers and Gagas. Finally, its like to force me to listen when their shit music is everywhere. He had a rough night or a good night before that interview can clearly see he wasn’t really ready for it. Still doesn’t hinder how good of a singer he was and how willing he is too answer question and more of a normal person down too earth. He died 13 years before I was born and I’m still listening too him today. Elvis is a legend in the music business today willingness to give a good show and a legend for his party’s no one can beat him just like the Irish ✌️

2 years later I'm watching this for the first time. The love and respect I have is true. Although, as a recovering alcoholic and seen a thing or two I agree with the rough night, was wondering if someone would actually say it. He looks pretty high. Down to earth and calm as can be, but the coughing... dry mouth and itch in the back of his throat. Yet too polite to get up or ask for water. Or anything to drink. Hard to find polite people with true hearts these days. RIP Elvis!

Always had the sense from the few interviews he did that this was someone who really knew...a lot...about music. Its roots, its evolution..ironically, the one thing he probably didn't fully grasp was his own phenomenal importance in musical history. It sure was a different time back then. I was just 2 years old when this interview took place. You can see how respectful Elvis was to the older generation and how they all dressed up and carried themselves. I'd say it was better then. It seems like "seniors" have a lot less importance in our culture today and are more or less ignored. Its a shame really...

Yea no one seems to take notice that he always has his father with him especially for interviews!! That is most certainly who taught him how to act like a man and carry himself as one as well! I really do believe that is such a profound statement he is making, ironically with no words! Nowadays you have all these celebrities who not only show no respect for themselves even much less anyone else!! Particularly no respect for seniors which is very disheartening because they were young one too just like everyone else and that's where the wisdom is NOT with these children who are given wealth and fame with no moral compass and have now made it cool to be dumb!! It has now become cool and fashionable to act ignorant! Again, just very disheartening!

How many times did Elvis haft to tell them that he missed his live audience and just wanted to do live apearances. Goodness. What a great and polite man. He is the greatest. I admire Elvis. There will never be another entertainer like Elvis. Sad that Col. Parker held him back and he never got to preform in Germany and other countries like he wanted to. I just wish that we could have had him longer than 42 years. I wish things would have been different. He was so generous and giveing to everyone. R.i.p. Elvis. You will always be remembered as the king and live on in our hearts forever through your music and kindness.

"Col. Parker" was an illegal alien who would have been deported if it was found out. That is why he didn't want Elvis to leave the country. Parker could not leave the country to manage Elvis overseas.

For being called "The King", he seemed like such a humble and genuinely friendly guy. Now, obviously, I can't this for certain 100%, as I never met him, but from all the interviews I've watched, I strongly get that impression.

First Elvis interview I ever watched. Therefore, unbiased. My bottom line: deepest respects for him and his music, especially his vocal range. There really was and always will be only one like him in this world. This was 1970 and he was still down to earth, not arrogant whatsoever, intelligent, well spoken, inspite of all those random questions from countless people in this interview. Draw my hat! Just a tiny little change in his demeanor when his old man came in... which reveals the reality of it all: Plain cold hard business forced upon him by those people in suit and tie. Too much for him to handle. RIP Elvis.
