Please Note: In Blue Hawaii, Elvis' girlfriend didn't own the agency where they worked. Also, both assassinations of Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr. were in 1968, but not JFK's. Sorry about that.

Well, I cried at the end of the movie, but it wasn't because of Austin Butler's performance. It was seeing the clips of Elvis's final performance (which I saw live via satellite) and news footage from the day that Elvis died. I remember where I was on that day. Time stood still. I've been an Elvis fan since I was 4 years old. There will never be another Elvis Presley.

The only person who actually would have looked like Elvis, was his identical twin brother who died at birth. Just think there was almost 2 of them. I feel Austin Butler did an excellent job. He took the role seriously and he worked hard to give us Elvis. I saw Elvis in concert on October 22nd, 1976 in Champaign, Illinois. The show was awesome and I still have my ticket stub. We went as a family, mom, dad, my sisters and me. It was great! And the only reason Garth Brooks passed up Elvis as having sold more records is because Elvis died at the age of 42 and Garth is close to 60 if not older. If Elvis had not passed away, no one would have topped him.

Thank you. I have yet to see the movie but for us who grew up on Elvis music and movies.......for us..... he was our first love. This short video reminds us how much Elvis meant to us and how he was an uncompromising influence to our lives as teenagers growing up in that day. I would like to watch the movie but haven't yet had the opportunity. I am sure this will open up to the modern generation how one man changed the whole face of music and influenced the whole world. His music will gain new fans and his music will reach into their hearts as it did ours. Fantastic facts, thank you. My family and I loved the movie. I didn’t think I would, because I'm often distracted by actors overplay or underplay of iconic people, but Austin Butler’s portrayal of Elvis is outstanding. We all felt so sad at the end of the movie. The song caught in a trap, now has a whole new interpretation in our minds. It’s so tragic that the Colonel remained in control to the death of Elvis. All that Elvis achieved under a selfish, greedy man, imagine how much more he could have done with a Manager who cared about him and supported him?

I agree 👍 it made Lisa happy and that matters a ton, but apparently it portrayed Elvis as being an unhappy and miserable person and his family (Smith's) said he wasn't like that at all. Elvis for the most part was a happy person with a good sense of humor. They did give kudos to Austin Butler's acting but thought the Tom Hanks portrayal of Parker was odd. One thing they pointed out was Parker didn't have an accent...

I never really liked Elvis. Then during my 2012 Divorce I was flipping channels and ALOHA From Hawaii began I half interested watched it. By the end I was completely SHOCKED at the talent he had possessed. All I ever heard was a few overplayed songs on radio. Since then, i have learned to play guitar, became an Elvis Collector, and have every album, movie he ever made. He is the Greatest Entertainer that has lived,🎉in my opinion. Yet,his career only lasted ten yrs. The first three. Then the Army, then ten yrs of movie making. Then another seven yrs of live singing again.. sadly dead by the middle of 77. Look at his fans still 50 yrs later.

As an avid Elvis fan too since 1975 when I was 5, I noticed everyone that you are talking about. I do agree it gives casual or new fans the wrong idea, but that what biopics do., bur for a reason. They have to squeeze so much information into a very limited amount of time. However, this story is being told by a dying Parker who is now very old and on morphine. This allows for missteps because our memory always recalls things differently over time, but the story we tell is similar to the actual event. We know Elvis didn't fire Parker on stage, but in the film the curtain is actually closing so it's mor backstage in the film and I real life they did have a shouting match backstage and Elvis did fire him in the same hotel, but up in his room. Trouble wasn't written by Lieber and Stoller until 58 and Elvis performs it in 56, but Parker could have thought it was Trouble since it was used years later as the opener for the 69 Special, a significant moment. Baz gets away with using the lyrics he thinks best fits the scene by the story being told by an old drugged up Colonel. Personally, I think they could have just used Heartbreak Hotel which has a similar arrangement and was a song he did perform at Russwood in 56. There was no riot at Russwood but there were riots at Elvis shows in 56 and 57. They made Elvis' draft having too much to do with Parker, but Parker was still in correspondence with the Pentagon in relation to Elvis possibly getting drafted and did think that if it did happen, they could spin it their way. Elvis wanted Special Services, regardless of what we've been told, who can blame him? But it was Parker who convinced him that it would look bad, and he would be more accepted if everyone knew he was a regular solider. Cops did indeed at some performances threaten to arrest Elvis. They too make the draft look too close to the Russwood even, but again Parker's memory could be off. Litle Richard certainly wasn't a newcomer in 1956, but the point of the scene is that Elvis dug him. It goes over the top making the 68 Special an almost Christmas Special, but Parker did indeed want it to be, and he also wasn't keen on If I Can Dream at first. Elvis didn't meet Steve Binder up on the Hollywood Hill but in his office, but the conversation is legit, and I have no issue with adding where the meeting took place for dramatic affect. The tablecloth contract took place at a diner in Vegas, not the showroom, but it squeezes a performance and the contract into one scene. What I disliked most about the film was the portrayals of Vernon and Gladys. They made Vernon a wimp and Gladys a You Know What.

Dolly's, "I Will Always Love You", hadn't even been released when they divorced. Priscilla had some input in the Elvis movie and I'm sure she had that part put in to make her look good. In her book she said when they walked hand in hand after their divorce he whispered in her ear, "Forever always and ever". Now, she has rewrote history again, something she does every time she opens her mouth, she told Dolly he sang "I Will Always Love You" to her as they were walking hand in hand after signing their divorce papers. It was before the Elvis movie was released and the prediction was made that he would win both the Golden Globe and the Oscar. It’s time for Elvis Presley to get his Oscar for his immeasurable contributions to the movie industry. The new book Elvis: The Quest for an Oscar was written with that specific goal in mind. When the Academy Awards are aired and Austin Butler wins the best actor Oscar, Priscilla should be standing right next to him accepting the Oscar for Elvis Presley. Please go to Barnes & Noble, read some reviews of the book and marvel at some of the photographs, how about the cover of the book. It is a fantastic image of Elvis Presley at the very beginning of his illustrious movie career. Spread the word, Elvis: The Quest for an Oscar.

You could only hold this opinion out of ignorance. Elvis was portrayed as a cheating junkie who had chickens in his house and wore enough make up to be the envy of any astute drag queen. This film refueled all the lies that have been prevalent about Elvis since 1985 when Priscilla started the campaign to earn a living off his legacy by gaining public sympathy at his expense.

@@boldchick101 I enjoyed it for what it was and I will stand by that. It was not a documentary Miss Linda know it all. The Elvis movie was entertainment taking creative license as MOST movies do. Or do you believe there really is a Spider Man and a Bat Man? 🤦‍♀️

@@inproper3952 I know it was not a documentary Miss Ignorance whose internet handle should read improper not inproper. What you do not get is that the lies in the media are compounded by the inaccuracies in the movie. Superman and Batman are actually fictitious, Elvis was a real human being with feelings and a sense of character. Let me dumb it down so that even you can get it. Elvis was a sweet and humble person with strong values and an auhentic nature. His mistakes was his to make, he never meant anyone any harm; on the contrary no one who knew him was not better off afterwards as a result, especially lying, cheating Priscilla. Elvis has been a victim of sensasionalistic lies since he started singing publicly, he does not deserve to be seen or remembered as a womanizing junkie who kept chickens in his house and wore make up that would make a drag queen envious. I combat misconceptions about him not because I am a know it all but because I have done proper research; the truth matters, the truth and his true image mattered to Elvis, why is that not respected? Please do not answer, the question is rhetorocal, I already know the answer even if you don't. If you are going to depict someone's life, especially someone who has achieved the heights Elvis had, at least have the common decency not to make a fool of him in his own life and home. The only accurate thing in that movie was the fact that the Colonel exploited him, the rest was presented sensasionalistic and completely out of context. The fact that you refer to me as a know it all is a sure sign that you are intimidated by your own ignorance and blunder of putting your stamp of approval on something that Elvis would have hated ala Priscilla. Now, run along and let me rather speak to someone who makes some sense.

It seems like someone is always coming out with some comment about him for the sake of attention. That's why I have great respect for Ann-Margaret. Never revealed anything about him. There is another… In the scene where Priscilla and Elvis are on the bed surrounded by postcards… It is reported by Priscilla that while she was still living with her parents, she was visiting him in LA. Her parents stated that she had to send home a letter daily. So, when Elvis decided to take her to Las Vegas, they purchased enough postcards for the days they would be in Las Vegas, she filled them all out, and then they had one of his drivers in Los Angeles send a postcard every day. This way her parents would not know that she was in reality, in Las Vegas.

@@dwaynecollins4974 That's true. What I actually read is an article from a medical journal, where a doctor had gone over the autopsy and was commenting on it. The key point was whether Elvis died from an overdose and the conclusion was that he did not. The article discussed Elvis' suffering from an autoimmune disorder that had gone misdiagnosed for years. I have always refused to watch anything or anyone that tries to take off Elvis, but i decided to watch this. I am not knocking Austin down, and although he was a nice looking guy, i didnt get the feelings i get what i see Elvis! He didn't even look like Elvis really, and what annoyed me was the fact that the guy playing his dad said something like "well you had all the cars, the planes, the women we're broke! I cannot understand why it wasn't mentioned in themovie at the millions Elvis had paid to charities, buying a plane for children, a hospital, etc.etc. I also found a bit error where they said the girl playing Priscilla, starred in a movie, no she never! Not in an Elvis movie! It was pretty good, but i feel they made it like he spent a fortune on cars, women and planes etc, but they should have mentioned all the good he did for so many people and children. I just didnt get that tingly feeling! Like Elvis gave me, and like another reviewer said, when they said he sang exactly like Elvis, that particular song WAS ELVIS! I would know the slightest note sang if it was Elvis or not. But quite a good movie but they could have made it a lot better. Back to the REAL ELVIS! LOL Rosina Lock from London

I have not seen the movie yet I watched a clip of Austin and the director talking about the movie. Austin went through major voice training. They cracked a joke in the interview saying that making Austin's voice even deeper and he would never be able to get back to normal. As Elvis got heavier the voice got deeper. I forget the point where they said that Austin started lip-syncing because they did not want to permanently damage Austin's voice. So it is Austin's voice when he was younger but not in the ladder years of Elvis's life. If I remember it is after the comeback show at end of the 60s when they said Austin stopped singing. Elvis's voice was much rougher or rawer when he did the comeback show. As I said I have not seen the movie yet but it is because of Priscella that I will see it. I figured it was just another person trying to sound like Elvis. Then I watch an interview with her and she was watching the screening with another one of the Memphis mafia. They said they were asking each other is that Elvis or is that Austin? She said Austin even had the way Elvis's accent would sound on certain syllables. His ex-wife and the woman he was truly in love with as she was with him giving that kind of review of Austin. I think I need to see the movie.

My daughter gave me this DVD and I still haven’t watched it. She saw it opening night and she is a Performer. She knows I love Tom Hanks and he wasn’t lovable in this movie, I have never liked Parker and I love Elvis. She did tell me that Austen did a great job and that I would at times forget he wasn’t Elvis but he got his moves and looks down. If he could get it all he would be Elvis and Baz Luhrmann wouldn’t want that. He does want the truth though. I saw him interviewing Elvis’s best friend in Tupelo Mississippi, Baz always does his research. That isn’t why I haven’t watched it. Elvis died in the daytime in Australia. I went to my Mother’s house to tell her and she was upstairs on her bed, crying. She never cried where we could see her. She was the same age as Elvis and her Doctor had just told her she had a couple of weeks left because too much of her heart had died. She was upset about my baby brother until I promised he would be taken care of. We had a sister younger than he was but she was tougher she told me. She was gone a few weeks later and I still link her to Elvis.

Exactly! I haven't seen the film yet, but as soon as I heard Priscilla and Lisa Marie were involved, I knew it wouldn't be accurate. I'm sure Priscilla is portrayed as the love of his life, but he actually had trouble deciding between her and Anita Wood. When Anita found this out, she walked out on him, making the decision for him. I think Elvis loved each woman he became romantically involved with as much as he was capable. If he had a "love of his life" or "soul mate," my bet would be on Ann-Margret.

@@Angelfire. You are 100% correct with everything you said. Elvis asked Ann to quit her job and stay with him full time but she was too ambitious. They were soul mates, though, in my opinion. Perfect for each other and it’s sad they couldn’t make it work. But yes, you are correct. In the movie, Priscilla is made out to be the love of his life, they acted like Priscilla left him due to his drug use, and that Elvis wanted to get back her later in life. All are categorically false. Elvis asked her for a trial separation shortly after they got married. And they also conveniently forgot to mention that Priscilla cheated on Elvis too (many times) and that Elvis was pressured by Parker and Priscilla’s dad to marry her. That part is sickening
