The EM sparring bud came years later I believe after he had retired. As for De La Hoya the only rumor that was true was in the post fight of de la Hoya/pacquiao someone interviewed EV saying he got kicked out. Years later somebody else from golden boy admitted it.

I like Valero, a lot, he finds away to break you, but in this video, Morales has already been known to struggle making weight, then you get Valero who isn't burdened with a real camp trying to get eyes on him and going all out. The only advantage Morales had was the experience but Valero had the condition, youth, and hit too hard. Even with the protection of the head cover you could tell Morales felt Valero’s power. Too strong Edwin Valero; with an internal fire only comparable to Mano de Piedra Durán at it best!
