In this embroidery machine tutorial episode of Embroidery Hub, Manny gives a tutorial how to do 3d embroidery on hats. Along the way you'll learn helpful embroidery tips on how to setup your digitized design for puff embroidery, making sure your puff embroidery looks clean, getting rid of excessive foam on your puff embroidery and much more! 3D embroidery is a great cost-effective way to offer more variety to your customers while being able to charge a little extra since puff embroidery has a higher perceived value. In this episode Manny uses a Ricoma MT-1501 commercial embroidery machine.

Does the Ricoma EM-1010 do the 3D stitch? If not, what machine model can accomplish it? Looking around to buy a embroidery machine.
@ricomatv
@ricomatv 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Dawna, the EM-1010 is able to do 3D embroidery. If you are looking to do 3D embroidery as a business we recommend our 1501-TC or MT-1501 as they are our commercial machines and are equipped with bigger motors and can handle larger orders. Our EM-1010 is more of a hobbyist machine, so if that is what you're looking for then it will get the job done. If you'd like to find out more about our machines fill out the form on the following page and someone will gladly answer all of your questions: www.ricoma.us/contactus

I have the TC. Do I need to mess with tension when adding the foam?
@ricomatv

Not really, but if you’re not getting good results, slightly looser tension gives better results on puff. But wouldn’t mess with it if no issues

Is there a certain type of foam to use? Also, should density be changed? I have an EM 1010 and I just want to make myself a few 3D puff caps.

Hi Anthony! We recommend 3 mm craft foam. There is foam specifically made for this purpose: allstitch.net/product/3mm-puff-foam-for-embroidery-orange-1201.cfm

You also want to increase the density when doing 3D puff to make sure the stitches cover the foam.

how thick do you do the layer (satin below the puff)?
@ricomatv
@ricomatv 6 жыл бұрын
Hello MK Buddy, great question. You want to have to satin below the puff overlap where the puff will be about 15%-20% to avoid gaps between the puff and the regular satin stitch underneath because the thread contracts when stitched. Hope this answers your question.
