EMG T Series Pickup Install and Review

Jimmy Schoettle installs and reviews the EMG T-Series Pickups.
This is a unsolicited and unpaid review of the EMG pre-wired active pickups for Tele style guitars. This reasonably priced upgrade will make a huge difference for guitars with low quality stock pickups.
During CoVid I spent a lot of time finding inexpensive guitars and fixing them up to make them play and sound great to give away to younger beginning players. This guitar started out as a Fender MIM Squire, and after a little TLC, and about $300 in upgrades played and sounded so nice that I kept this one for myself. The bulk of the sound improvements on this guitar have to be attributed to the EMG pickups, which in my opinion sound amazing.

I just acquired a 1988 American Standard Tele that came with the Fishman Fluence system installed. It's similar (noiseless - dual voiced via a push button, active) but the pickups sound perhaps a bit more Tele-authentic then EMG. Though I could still detect some of that trademark Tele "honk" in your sound. Before I knew what I had it was my intention to go with these EMG's as I did on my Strat. Your guitar sounds excellent. At any rate. I've only had this new-old Tele for a day and it seems I'll stick with the Fishman's already installed, they do sound brilliant and totally noise free. What I really need is another Tele with EMG's! Best to you.

See... I will have to study the t line at emg.. it's funny i have 2 basses both emg-jvx..my ibanez s us emg81tw B and 81 N... I don't want my tele to be a big sound because the ibanez takes care of all that and splits on top of that..I want clean clear bell tone bright...so I need to see what emg has in that area.

Does this pickups have 50 hz hum/noise on hi-gain, like classical singles? Or they are quiet like humbuckers? Tnx!

so it's not a pain in the butt to find space for the 9 volt?

I have actually seen some guys route out the control cavity to make the included connector fit, but that seemed silly to me. I simply used a 9 volt connector with the wires in the middle and everything fit easily. Do you have a feel for how often the battery needs to be changed?

EMG preamps are very low usage; EMG rates them for 1,500 hours, if you unplug them when you're not playing you can usually get about a year out of them
