RemoteFaith 1995 i agree, i love her for her personality and her sweetness but let’s be honest, there was nothing impressive in this casting. Although it would be harsh to say that she did not make progress through the years.

So true, and so well put.....Nuanced, warm, heartbreaking, etc.....She is capable (and gifted) of running the gamut of emotions, big and small. That's why she is so captivating to watch.....In a round table video interview with other actresses for the Hollywood Reporter (published 7/8/19), Emilia talked about how the writers would write the character of Daenerys in a "cold" way, but that they knew that she would try to bring more humanity to her, to try to maker her "warmer". I have a feeling that this is why her character was so beloved by so many of the fans: because she took what could have been a one or two-note character, and turned her into someone with a full spectrum of emotions and feelings. We got all the colors. I will never forget her Khaleesi, the Protector of Innocents, the Breaker of Chains, the Queen who loved, and was loved by, Jon Snow.....and the Mother of Dragons.

@FORREST GUMP What are you talking about? Her performances were more than fine even before Season 8. I disagree with you saying that she can only play a vulnerable Daenerys. Specially her speeches where pretty good, considering that she needed to talk into a fictional language convincingly. The Cersei, Margaery and the rest comparisons don't apply to Dany as she is a different kind of character altogether as do them as well. Nor is really accurate to just describe those character as merely the strong woman archetype as they have more things going with them. If you are talking just in behalf of the fans you know disliked her performance, the one that needs to go outside the bubble is you.

@FORREST GUMP Agree to disagree though. It comes to your experience, but I was convinced with Emilia's portrayal of Dany unlike you. Complaining about lack of emotion is pointless when you have a character that rarely lets them out, although she does lose it sometimes as shown in scenes like this: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gciIfdiBu6_coWg.html. And that is BEFORE they changed her character for the worse in Season 8. And if anything her portrayal shined through the awful writing in the last season at the cost of other talents, like Peter, Kit or even Conleth (and those are also great actors) whose performances were afected due to the terrible script (nothing on their part, obviously). And that without mention that she was one of the actors that needed to play in front of green screens and with props the most. Not to mention the aforementioned speeches in fictional language. That does sound "unconvincing"? Not saying your opinion isn't valid, but I disagree with it as does many other people.

@FORREST GUMP She's emotional in the books. IN THE BOOKS. Series!Daenerys is a different interpretation of the character, which do not ultimately come towards just Emilia, but the writers as well. And even then, like I said she had moments where her emotions had to come afloat, like the link I posted two months ago. Stephen Dillane was excellent as Stannis (considering the crap material he was given), but so was Emilia as Dany. Specially in Season 8. Funny you say she was given a lot for her character when she was done as dirty as Stannis if not worse. I get that you don't like Emilia and like Stephen, but credit where credit is you. "The Bells" had Emilia given one of the best performances in the show even considering the shoddy writing. It may be not your opinion, but a lot of people agree with this as you can see with the likes on my OP. Also, not to belittle Stephen, but Emilia went through TWO life-threating situations in which she could risk not being able to talk, let alone act (if not die). The fact she just carried on and gave her best performance is simply impressive.

That’s how a lot of auditions work, especially for large/top secret shows... they don’t have you read the real script, they have you read something that’s similar to the character, in this case Belle. So no, the title isn’t misleading, this is still her Game of Thrones audition, she’s just reading from a different work.
