@@KushDreams420 yeah after Em made him switch genres. Plus that line was referencing how Em giving Kelly attention is what made him popular, but now he’s known for trying to start beef with one of the greats, and losing.
@zuton_
@zuton_ 2 жыл бұрын
@@KushDreams420 so you believe that MGK won the beef? I can respect that we have different opinions. But MGK talked about Marshals daughter. That’s what started the beef. Then Kelly dissed him in a song for no reason. Eminem responded by dissing Kelly in Not Alike and Kelly made an entire diss track on Em. Sure Kelly had a fan base before this happened. He had to have some sort of crowd. But when Eminem dissed him and Kelly made a diss track. Kelly was the talk of the hip-hop world for seven days, until Eminem dropped Killshot. Which completely ruined MGK on not only a lyrical stance, but in comebacks, wordplay, and cadence. You can like whichever artist you like, but you have to understand why other people have different opinions. I’m not an Eminem “fanboy” I’m just using facts to back up my opinion. MGK is definitely still popular, but those seven days are one of the Prominent factors that made him well known (because he was beefing with an icon, and because the icon wasn’t responding) but when Em actually responded. Many professionals agree that Em won.
@zuton_
@zuton_ 2 жыл бұрын
@@KushDreams420 yeah I agree that his career hasn’t ended. But it has fallen off and is not exactly where it used to be. He does have skill in multiple different genres but I wouldn’t say he’s more skilled than Eminem. Marshal has honed his abilities in one genre while Kelly has spread out to multiple in order to try to gain the same relevance he had for his seven days of fame. at least that’s what I think. I agree that Kelly is good at both rap and rock but I am just quoting the song, which did signal the end to MGK’s rapping career as he switched to rock. Many speculate if this has anything to do with him losing to Eminem and personally I think one reason he did switch was because of the hate he was getting after his beef with Eminem. But I’m not saying he is a nobody, I’m just talking about his rapping career and how he lost.

It will only be when Eminem is dead he will the get the respect ✊….I get it I do rap is a black sport /craft black people are very passionate about what they believe in and there’s nothing wrong with that but …….if you truly do like hip hop then you got to respect the fact that em is the goat ! He is no doubt. Wish the instrumentals were better though. Too many artists complacent with any beat and thats what music is, the finished entity. Everyone is music blind so present in what is being said and if its on fire but no one critiques the sound mixture or how the artist illustrates his vocals with the bass, drums and every possible other soundboard capabilities. I see the music getting asphyxiated today. Endless amazing vocal tracks that are poorly mixed with the instruments and melody.

DeathGaming 190 like a lot of it just didn’t sound good to my ears. For example, the song believe, the chorus sounds good on paper like it’s good lyrics but it just sounds bad the way he did it. Or just the fact that it’s like 50% pop. I’m a fan of hip hop. I’m not close minded to other genres and I can tolerate any kind of music but I don’t want a 50% pop album from a rap legend like Eminem. Honestly it makes me rush back to mmlp to cleanse my ears a bit and remember who Eminem is😂 fr I’m a die hard em fan, I bought every album including revival and whenever anything drops I instantly buy it cuz basically owe it to him to support him no matter what because his music got me thru tough times and taught me a lot and help shape me into the person I am today but that album is still kinda hard for me to even listen to. When that dropped I started to question if em had it anymore but all my faith was restored with kamikaze. And now I can appreciate revival more especially songs like untouchable in these times

One reason to love Eminem is simply the fact that he is the only rapper who exploded in the 90"s that still destroys till this day. Not only that but he also is so rich he could have retired from rap with millions like others have. He loves the genre so much he chooses to stay cause he hates were rap has been heading. “Turn down for what, I ain’t loud enough Nah, turn the Valium up” I saw it as a double entendre like Em usually does with his bars. Might not be referenced in that verse but he does mention “I should eat a pill” referencing how people want him to go back to “Slim Shady”. “Do you know why Dre’s record was so successful? He’s rapping about big screen TV’s, blunts, 40’s and bitches. You’re rapping about homosexuals and Vicodin.” - Steve Berman (skit) MMLP Also interesting that there’s no chorus at all in this song. Unconventional cadence, the beats he raps to, this is one of those unique and highly slept on songs by him.

Eminem is the lyrical king. Anyone talking shit just gives him more fuel for another fire. I like a lot of different genres and artists that have great lyrics, but none touch the level he's on. He's the entendre and bar king. I've listened to older stuff when he was younger and stuff that I thought was a double was actually a triple or quad entendre not counting it relaying to the previous or next lines at the same time. I don't know, man. I've been trying to find people from any genre that cut so deep like he does, but even poets and authors, etc don't compare overall. This comment is a lot lop-sided since it's to an Em song and that's why. If we were talking playwrights or whatever then, no, not the same and he would probably fail at classics like Shakespeare or whatever. I wouldn't be surprised, though, if he could do a modern rewrite of that and make it really good.

Revival was slept on because it was one of the realist albums he put out. He out his whole heart into that shit spitting real life facts. And people now adays only wanna play shit that can be bumped in clubs and make the booty shake. That album completely went against anything that was popping at the time. So people just hated it before listening to it. Then they heard real life issues instead of a sick ass beat and a wack hook and simple lines.

True. Some are saying they want what he did 20+ years ago. He's grown up and has had different life experiences over the years so that will be expressed. The only people who want him still talking about what he talked about at 23 yrs old are the ones who never matured and living the same life they did at 23, but if he hadn't evolved in life or music, there would be something wrong with him.

I feel like there should be an IQ prerequisite before being able to react to or give opinions about Revival publicly. If your IQ is isn't at least in triple digits, you shouldn't be able to share your dumbass opinions about it because 99% of the bars likely went right over your head. All of his albums since Recovery are too complex for idiotic fair-weather pop-rap fans to understand. If you're focused on beats and hooks while listening to Eminem, you're missing the point entirely.
@Donyerky
@Donyerky 3 жыл бұрын
I think it was how each song was constructed. Features were questionable..beats were uhhh weird. Bars were him spitting facts ! BUT felt watered down. I agree with the timing in which it came out. All the bullshit people was listening to , his music they attacked it. But it wasn't the best put together in my opinion. But I respect the message if that makes sense.
@TitoMcFadden
@TitoMcFadden 3 жыл бұрын
@@Donyerky I wish more people used their brains when sharing criticisms of the album like you just did. Everything you said makes sense. He was pushing the envelope creatively and not everything was executed as well as the genius level shit he did with the last 2 tracks, Castle and Arose. So I do see your point. That's valid criticism.

"The old me killed the new me" we can't enjoy his new music because everyone's comparing him to his old music. So he breaths on a mirror but he doesn't see his breath. Breath is also a homonym for "breadth" or largeness, a reference to his greatness. But since no one thinks he's great anymore he must be dead. But he's still killing it on these beats. So for a dead man to be rapping so good. He must be possessed with an evil spell so he's E-V-I-L.

I also saw a comment by Zikloxy on the LawTwins' reaction the stated "I'll take a number two" could connect to "I guess when you walk into BK you expect a Whopper" which is a #2 "You can order a quarter pounder when you go to McDonald's" which is also a #2.

I also saw it as a whole generational call out, since number 2 pencils are most like something theyre not using, therefore marking a visible shift in the new ways of the ones who disregard the old ones and even the ones who just are not familiar.

I love how you explained the part where he's talking things he would rather do than listen to these new rappers, I feel the same way for the most part. I believe since he started rapping he has been saying crazy shit so he may feel like he needs to keep doing it at least every once in a while.
