You did a great job describing taste and texture. So many people say things like "oh, it's really sweet/good/nice" and that doesn't help with me imagining what they're experiencing. I guess it's kind of like avocado... It has a really unique taste that doesn't really match any other tastes.

I don't think so. I'm from the Caribbean and my hometown was actually around the shore. And just like any other kid raising on the beach I ate tons of coconut bread just for fun with my pals. It feels very different from avocado. This is similar to a fruit called "pan de árbol" (tree bread?) Wich has a very light but similar to bread texture. Avocados are just like butter and they do combine with many many other ingredients.

Watching this video, reminds me of the my childhood. My dad would climb the coconut tree at our front yard, and will chevl each stem of coconut by knocking on one and somehow he will which stem is ready for picking. He'll cut the stem and I've watch each coconuts fell on the ground. Once he opens them up ill be the one collecting the juice put in a jug cooler and scraping the white soft flesh ( its semi young stage of coconut 😊) for eating later or making desserts. As for the old ones ( brown coconuts) I keep an eye on them,once i see the sprouts like 4- 5 inch high, ill break it open. the sprout inside is small but its crunchy and much sweeter and has more flavor, i preffer it than the huge size ones it feels like eating styrofoam 😊. Im sorry if my comment (story) is too long. I wish youll be able to experience eating coconut when its mid young. Specially the soft meat that is great for eating not the harden stage which is for milking. Thank You for all the great videos

I always gets excited when my father used to open a matured coconut when he's still alive, caused Im always waiting for this and he called it "pandesal de bukid" or coconut bread and also Btw. Your coconut is way to matured, you should've have it when it still has water and there's still has a meat that can still used to have the coconut milk, in that way it will taste much more sweeter and moist. Lovelies from the Philippines

Hi Emmy, You are such a Cutie- Pie! 😊 Anyway, I am an old Grandma and have learned a couple more things about coconuts that maybe You do or do not know. First of All, that fiber that You pulled off in the beginning and mentioned that it is sometimes used in compost and/or mulch. It is also used in a compressed and flattened to a sheet like fabric, then cut into a circle shape and used as the lining or covering of the bowl of hanging plant baskets sold in Garden shops. It is also sold the same way in the Garden Department of Discount Department Stores like Walmart and Shopko or K-Mart too. The second thing is: and I hope that You did not have an upset stomach after eating so much coconut meat. It is very fiberous and if a person eats too much, can get diarrhea. Anyway, this old Woman wanted to chime in with what I have learned about coconuts and eating them or using them to hang a plant or 2. Happy New Year to You and Your Family! 😊👍🏼🎩👑🍾🥂

A lot of the fallen coconuts has this(we call it tumbong where I lived in the Philippines). They are the best when the coconut is barely sprouting. They'll be smaller, but they will be filled with coconut juice. Really sprouted ones like what you opened are more airy and dry, but are still great!

as a brazilian, I find the americans' fascination with coconuts quite funny. it's weird how one country/culture can take something for granted as some other country/culture find that exactly same thing exquisite, isn't it? great vid, Emmy! I've never tried that coconut foam before, but I'm used to drinking coconut water whenever I want. over here you can just buy a coconut down the street and walk around drinking it like it's no big deal, and it's not because it's a "natural electrolyte", it's just because... it's good. 😄

Having a relationship with God & having His Spirit will help a lot more to get rid of any anxiety. Believe in Jesus as the Son of God. Search up who He is & why He died for all of us. It’s especially important to read the Bible yourself & best to start in the New Testament & if you want context search up what certain things mean. But make sure you understand how to receive salvation & walk in it. To receive salvation you basically have to confess that you believe in Jesus as the Son of God & that He died for your sins. And repent (be sorry) & ask for forgiveness for your sins to Father God. Sins are our disobedience to God’s commandments. The blood of Jesus washes away our sins. God requires blood for sins.

banana bread loaf Like the freshest coconut, light, clean, even the water tastes better than later when the jelly turns white and solid. The jelly is soft and slippery just fantastic. @imallearsru
@imallearsru 5 жыл бұрын
hdezines If you bought it at a store then it's already developed the firm, white flesh on the inside, it'll still be delirious because it's young. Once you remove the husk ( use extreme caution, I wouldn't recommend Emmy's way ), just use a flat bladed screw driver and push it into the husk then pry the husk off by using the screw driver like a pry bar. it takes time. Then take the cleaned nut and put it in the freezer for 3 - 6 hours. It may take longer, sometimes 12 hours, but I don't like freezing the coconut water. Remove from freezer and begin tapping the hard shell around the nut. Good solid taps * don't crack open the but just yet ) you'll hear the inside meat ( the white flesh ) break free from the shell. When you shake it and it makes a noise then take your hammer and smash the hard nut. You'll find a perfectly intact ball of coconut meat, then make a hole in it and drain out the water.
@hdezines

Interesting to see that Western countries are only now discovering sprouted coconuts.. we Indians eat it almost everyday (those live close to the coastline). In America, you can walk in into any Indian store and buy these by the dozens without the hefty costs plus shipping.. Indians also use the outside brown husk to make small brooms to scoop dirt around the house.. when we were growing up, we learnt in school that coconut is comprehensively useful - all parts of it have some function or another.. and nothing goes waste.. and the coconut itself is consumed across it's stages of maturity. Nature's love - Just so lovely!

I love that as well!!! We have a coconut tree in our backyard and my dad would occasionally open up a few of these when we need coconut milk for cooking. He uses mature coconuts that haven't sprouted yet so that there'll be more meat that hasn't bean consumed by the "sponge" yet. There'll be a little sponge at the center when opened and we eat it as a snack while scraping out the meat. The scraped meat will then be squeeze out for milk. The shell will be used for gardening and other miscellaneous stuff. The husk will mainly be used for lighting fire for barbeque. When there's barbeque, a few young coconuts will also be opened so we can drink the juice. We scrape out the young meat to be mixed into a fruit salad for dessert. I just love coconut much!

It’s so cool reading the comments of people from around the world sharing stories of them eating these from their back yards

If I saw that and brought it by mistake I would of been like I brought a damn rotten coconut 🤣🤣🤣 So it's basically coconut water foamed up

😂😂😂... i always looks at those on some beaches in Puerto Rico and always wondered; can you still eat it like the way a potato start having little sprouts? Well then question solved lol.

crankybloke wow, the only thing you guys care about is spelling. Way to go. There might be a reason for it, everything from autocorrect to dyslexia. Spelling isn’t really that important, it doesn’t change the content of the comment.

This video makes me miss when I lived in Key West Fl. I used to go on walks with my husband with our baby in the stroller and would around our neighborhood pick up coconuts that fell to the ground and bring them home as a treat.

Seeing her crack open that coconut, thinking about her bee-keeping skills and general knowledge when it comes to cooking and food, *I oddly feel like Emmy would be very well-suited to survive an apocalypse...*

I loved this as a kid. It sounds like biting into an apple but it's like biting into a dry sponge that's lightly soaked into sweet coconut water. My favorite is when my grandma fries the white ("meat") part. It's like a coconut explosion!
