Please help me understand how the foster system works. I am from Africa, Zimbabwe we don't have a system like that. Children live with family that could be either with parents or grandparents or extended family then in very hard circumstances they may end up in an orphanage or children's home.
@HyperWolf
@HyperWolf 2 ай бұрын
@@mongiwamabaleka4820People who have extra room in their homes sign up to care for kids so they don’t end up in orphanages or group homes if they don’t have extended family or while they search for extended family. There’s a lot of inspections done to make sure the living space is up to standard. A lot of rules and safety things to follow to get and keep the license to have foster kids in your home. The goal is firstly to give the parents time to get their life in order and reunite the family, but in some cases where parents don’t have rights or are dead, and there is no extended family to take them, then they might be adoptable if the foster parent wants to and can adopt, if not, they are placed until 18 years of age.

This is a definite huge problem in the foster care system. Yes I believe that they should be closer to the biological parents as long as laws are being followed, etc. but how is it better for them to keep moving them from home to home to home to the point by the time they’re 18 they’ve already been to five or six homes if not more how is that not more traumatic for them? Luckily, I was fostered by my grandparents, but before that when I was a child was bounced around from home to home😢

Peter you are such a wonderful person and dad 🙏 Those 2 kids who had to leave recently at least had a month in your home and experienced love and a safe place to be💖 Hopefully, they will move to another safe place and be surrounded by love 💕 and a feeling of being safe and secure 🙏🙏🙏 Being near their mom will be wonderful if things are improving with her 🙏🙏🙏 It must be heart wrenching every time you, and your kids, have to say goodbye 😢😢😢 May God continue to keep you strong in this journey through life 🙏❤ My thoughts and prayers are with you and your children and the two who have moved on🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤

You are so gentle and kind! Thank you for sharing the harsh realities of being a foster/adoptive parent. I worked in FC as a case aide. One of the toughest parts of the job was the transfer process, accompanying children from one home to the next. The best situations were reunifications with bio parents, however, the foster parents remained in the childrens' lives as "auntie", or "grandma".

It is very sad when the foster children get moved on, especially when you have such a warm, loving home where children can feel safe and cared about. Lack of stability for foster children is one of the most difficult things about the system. I hope your tiny tot might one day be adopted by you. You’re a really amazing dad and Anthony is such a caring big brother. ❤

This popped up on my feed today, even though it has been a couple of months I am just seeing it now. I really hope those 2 little ones are doing well wherever they are, i have heard some horror stories about the foster system. I can't even imagine the amount of stress it must be for them immigrating to a new country and then being transferred from home to home must be. The trauma of it all is really heartbreaking. I pray for protection for them wherever they are and stability. As an immigrant their story pulls at my heart.

You all gave them a month of love, acceptance and understanding, even with the language barrier. You gave them the best buffer in the unfortunate disturbance of being away from their Mum. They also left with more than they came with and things that will bring happy memories of being with you. Loved the caring you showed explaining to your other children and were willing to answer questions too. As hard as it is I believe you are doing fantastically. 🙏❣

Grief is about loss, not just about death.. even though this grief you feel when children move on is tempered with the knowledge that they are moving to what is better for them, you are still allowed to grieve, grieve for the loss and the change, Love is returned to you when people leave our life’s , hold onto it, nurture it, understand it’s sad, then have it ready and healthy for the next children who are lucky enough to receive it .

I pray their mother is given the support financial and emotional so the children can be returned to her promptly. Moving children with language and cultural barriers is traumatizing indeed. A new country , being thrust in the foster care system , being removed from their mom is almost criminal. God bless Peter. God bless America but we can do better in this situation. Give mom the resources and tools so she can be reunited with her children. Blessing to all involved . GOD'S COVERING OVER THEIR LIVES.

Yes, thankyou . This is exactly how i feel. Some children are simply taken from a loving parent because they are poverty stricken. . In a country so wealthy we can't help our poor but we can send billions to other countries. It is pathetic. It is wrong and we must demand a change now

Since they are moving soley to be nearer to their mom, it doesn't make any sense to me that they don't give them a day to say goodbye and prepare themselves before leaving. As they return to a place where they can be closer to their mother, the joy of that move is really only possible because you were available to care for them in the interim. How lucky were they? How lucky were you and your kids? This network of love and acceptance is going to be with all of you forever. Blessings to you.

I can't imagine going through this, on either side. I genuinely don't know much about this process so I always have questions. Have you ever had the experience where the kids don't want to leave all & get upset? How is that dealt with or can anything be done to allow them to stay longer if that happens? You're just a wonderful guy and I really appreciate you sharing a glimpse into your amazing family ❤

Thanks, Peter, for educating us about fostering children. It is great to watch your programs before taking on such a meaningful journey with the life of a child. I really learned a lot with you! It is really time-consuming. And dealing with the situation is not an easy task. But if that is your God's giving assignment, i am pretty sure God will provide all the resources for you, spiritual, mental, financial, and, above all, patience 🙏. Life is very mysterious, and we will never know until the end. Who was the lucky one! God blessed you already by just the way you are. 🙏

Can your friend take my kids next? Just kidding! I feel sorry for the kids. They need stability. They thrive on structure. Maybe this is a blessing in the long run.

Are you crazy? All the dude does is tell folks what they want to hear. I've yet to see him engaging with the kid's AT ALL. WTF????

You are a tough nut Peter. I don't know if I could let them go😢. You are so right though, being close to their Mum is best❤. JO JO IN VT 💞

Its not they didnt want y'all. The goal is to be a safe loving home for as long as needed. The goal is for the family. The children want their Mom, even to be close enough to see her. Time will tell the important things that go along with her being there in the capacity she is. I admire what you & your children are doing, offering love, home, support as they go through such traumatic situations. Prayers for all of y'all🕊🙏💗

Hi Peter! It's a shame that they had to go so soon but good that they will be close to their Mom. Even though it was a few short weeks, you all built memories for them ( & you) to remember and reflect on in years to come. Good Memories can keep you going for a lifetime. This I know for sure! Thank you for sharing your journey with us all- we are learning so much!
