The TA2 really surprised me in what it is able to do. For a 2.1 system under 1k, I'm don't think there is another integrated that does more.

Emotiva is such an overprized and uninteresting amp! If you like bass, you probably tonedeaf! The midrange is much more important to people with good hearing!

I wish I still had the TA2 to show you. But, know that the subwoofer integration might just be my favorite feature of this amplifier.

I tried an Emotiva BasX A-400z Zone Amplifier when it was available at discount and while Emotiva stated their 2 channel amps had better SQ, I did notice the upper frequency extension which I liked. The bass wasn't good being less detailed and not as fast as I expected and the mids not as smooth or as detailed (also lacked depth) as as my 2 other amps but the high frequencies were good. I would expect this 2 channel amp would be better than that zone amp from other reviews especially in the bass and mids. As to the amp being too analytical for the ML 15i, I find that while it is detailed and great with voices, it remains smooth, well controlled in the sibilant ranges and rather delicate and less prominent in the high frequencies especially when compared to metal dome tweeters. My other speakers Focals, Triangle including Dali Opticon 1s with a soft dome have more prominent high frequencies so perhaps alot of people would still find the pairing with an Emotiva fine unless someone really needs warmth thru all the frequency ranges. The 15i has low end punch and speed but isn't warm, comparatively speaking but it is smooth. The Aluminum mid cone is responsible due its nature, IMO. I felt the AMT in the ML is good though and like it alot. Really fun with movies and I got used to it with music. Lots of clarity and texture but behind much more expensive speakers. Good at its price point. Considering the discounted price, size and capabilities, it is hard to beat. With Elac Carina, you probably get more lows and lower mid emphasis but expect it may be too laid back for movies, but some find it pleasing and easy to listen to with music. I almost pulled the trigger on Neat Petites which are known to be very resolving, detailed and having a strong low end as well as highs but feel the ML 15s were a good enough compromise, especially with a small sub. Still would have liked a bit more prominence in the high frequencies but it rides the highs well enough, you miss little if anything. So, I wouldn't think an Emotiva would be too much as long as the bass is there for some balance. Brightest amp I ever tried was a SoundArtist SA-200IA, really overly prominent in the upper mids, too unrefined across the board and had too many QC issues ( I tried a couple), and would hope Emotiva amps would be better across the board. The zone amp was a bit better and smoother in comparison but nothing special, but it was inexpensive.

As is wrote in another post. Low Pass filters are fairly common in amplifier markets this day. The gamchanger in this amp is the HIGH PASS setting thtas built in. That unheard of in High End amps more so in 1k and under price range as the Ta2 is. High pass takes the kow frecuencies from your speakers but let them run till 20k. Then setuo the low pass from the same frecuency you cut off the speakers so your subwoofer can run the lows fro when the Spekers let go. This is were the magic happens!!

I don’t have the TA2 anymore, but it didn’t strike me as remarkable for low-volume listening. I much prefer the newer Arcam amps (sa20 and a25).

They do/did. It’s around $300, but it’s been listed as ‘sold out’ on their website for quite a while. I think it’s called the a2m.

I don’t know if they’ve ever had any production issues. But, production faults, or not, I do know they sent me this TA2 on accident. I actually had ordered their A2 power amplifier.

I’ll push back in one or two areas. First the watts per channel is pretty impressive for the price. Second, bass management built into the integrated amplifier is excellent. But, none of that matters if it doesn’t sound good. I think this amp sounds fine, But I enjoy the sound of the Rotel A11 tribute more.

You are completely incorrect about the overpriced for the specs. Emotiva sells direct to consumer so they can be cheaper than competitors with cuts for middlemen. How are you reaching your conclusion about overpriced? Can you explain?
