I own a Pioneer sc-LX901 receiver (145W/ch) and I bought an EMOTIVA 6 channel XPA amplifier because some 140W/ch receiver onwers praised the Emotiva SPA amp. I had quite high expectations. However, after installing the amplifier and comparing them for more than 2 hours, (both bi-amping Front & center with paradigm studio 60 & cc-690) there was no difference - dynamics, clarity, details, and volume except sound color. The Pioneer is a D3 amp, so it's a little more vivid and bright, and the Emotiva is an AB amp so it's warmer and smoother. Both have great sound. I preferred the D3 amp sound, so I returned the Emotiva.

Nice review 👍. Looking forward for an in-depth review. Can you reconfirm the measurements. I though the unit was 19 inches deep and not 9 inches 😊.

NP. I think I could do with some more headroom in my setup but am thorn between getting this or the Parasound A31 which costs much more. Happy problem, no?😊😊✌️

Hii. You manched in the other video about bazz noices. If you contact the company they try to solve this problem? I thought to buy this amp. But after that problem it chill me up.

It's not a problem with the amp, its my receiver introducing the noise. The amps actually help reduce that noise. Its extremely faint as well, you can't hear anything unless your right next to the tweeter. I wouldn't hesitate buying the amps

Ok so I bought one of these amps and love it. But mine was 200 more than there asking now, Bought in January 2020. Think they will cut me some slack on my next purchase?

I have the Denon AVR-X3700H, Am looking to get a external amplifier, Am thinking either this Emotiva or the Rotel 1585, This XPA-DR3 Amplifier which has 3ch at 450watts, But the Rotel 1585 has 5ch at but at 200 watts, Any recommendations?

The dr3 is gonna give you a lot more power... if you only have a 5 channel surround, like 5.1 instead of 7.1, the Rotel makes sense. But if you have power hungry front speakers, grab the dr3 and let the denon power the surrounds

How high is the total buffering of the electrolytic capacitors? The XPA1 Gen 2 have 80.000 mf

I purchased my XPA- DR2 two months ago..It sounds amazing, coupled with my tube pre McIntosh C220 . I never listened to a such amplifier, under every aspect, and I have 45 years of " audiophile career" on my shoulders, during wich I listened to,and owned, a lot of amplifiers of any brand, much more expensive than Emotiva. Sincerely, I don't care anything of what the others say. My only judge are my ears. Bye bye..

I believe you, becouse I got Dr2 and is just amazing. Dr2 drive my polk audio rti a9 very easily and they sound fantastic.For this price best power amp

This is a much better version of the xpr-3? Is it worth going to XLR connection? Cause I've just purchased the Denon x4500h if XLR is much better I may trade up.

XPR-3? Or XPA-3? I didn't know they had a XPR-3 if so... If it's the XPA, the DR3 model will have a little more power, but only by like 20%. It's fully differential so you'll benefit from am little lower distortion and noise floor most likely, but if you aren't needing that or the extra headroom, you'll probably be ok. If it's the XPR... My understanding is those were some of the better amps from emotiva and I don't see a reason to upgrade.

@@thecman26 yes. For Home Theater Crown it's more than fine. Emotiva got overpriced and their products aren't disruptive anymore.

@@thecman26 you are comparing different class amplifiers man. emotiva are a/b/h or g class, crowns are D Class which quality isnt in the same field. Perfect for Party, concerts not great for 2ch hi fi if you want to get technical. Most can't hear the difference but if you wanted D class they have alot of other companies where you get 2kw of power in class d to 5 channels for under 2k.

It IS a pretty blue light...... honestly though 90% or more of electronics comes from China. Emotiva has worked well for me over the years

Guess my Chinese made SVS PB16 Ultras and Elevations are crap too? Sorry bud but I have to disagree. Emotiva amps have been great to me. Zero problems, great quality, and they do their job well for their price point.
