Idk if any of y’all remember me but my names Kyzer McCarthy and I feel like I should tell y’all that I came in and out of that system from MEC to the Detention Center to John G and now I have a wife 3 beautiful girls and have a full time job as a residential contractor I’ve made a pretty massive turn around from what I was in the past

Worked there for many years and this is NOT an accurate representation of how it is to work at DJJ. Hours are long, pay is POOR, and if you’re not one of the directors “faves” you’ll be overlooked. Just ask those working in the IG’s/public safety office. Interview those who can give you an actual inside instead of a company “Stan” like Barnett!

I was at a camp behind John G but CeC was a headache

Sadly, the reality of working in such a place is probably NOT as depicted in this very nice presentational promotional video. I really don`t mean that in a derogatory sense either. The staff of DJJ are obviously engaged in this work for the right reasons and really do want to change the direction of the lives of the young people that they are there to serve. The US incarcerates more people per capita than any other industrialized nation with overcrowding and environmental stresses unfairly endured by both staff and the young offenders. Further, the US judicial system seem to be very punitive and does very little to help those make better life choices which, in turn, is directly the fault of the judicial system either but something far more multilayered and complex.
